Haha, gratuitous old thread resurrection! Which one? American Standard Jazz V http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/images/large/004-8736-000.jpg or American Deluxe V Humbucker? http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/images/large/005-6135-000.jpg Or a normal sized Jazz replacement from SD or Delano as mentioned earlier in the thread? I'm more or less a republican BTW

Re-furb of an old Romanian flatback bass
Si600 replied to Blartfactor10's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Very nice. I need to know what you did now, like what was the disc for and the long piece of wood you were planing in the Workmate -
Thank you. I'll print it and try it out. Is it a subscription website?
-
Where did you find that? It's better than anything I've seen so far.

Me again after some help does anyone have the score for Pretend We're Dead? I've known the main riff for years but now I actually properly listen to it there are a few variations on it and a little run/fill after the drum part. Most tab I've found claim it's just the riff over and over, do they not listen to the songs they transcribe?!?!

The morning of the 10th

I have arranged with Donnyboy that the Baton will be at the Midlands Bass Bash on the 10th of May. If any attendees or the next link in the chain would like to take it on with them that would be awesome!

I shall be bringing the BC Relay Baton, details in the first post. 1. Any idea how the bridge pickup compares in output to an American Standard P-Bass? I'm thinking of dropping one into my bass.
-
Has anyone got one of these basses? What's the double Jazz style humbucker pickup like in output and sound?
It just goes to show how things have changed. In the 70s i regularly paid to see bands in pubs. In those days it was the norm rather than the exception to pay. I've seen lots of groups for free way back then but also have paid to see The Stranglers, Dr Feelgood, Average White Band, The 101ers, Eddie & The Hot Rods etc for 50p and i even remember seeing AC/DC for the not inconsiderable amount (at the time) of £1.
Was that in the main bar or a separate room? The point I was trying to badly make was that if I went down to the Dog and Duck for a drink and there was a band on in the bar then I'd be surprised to be asked to pay. If that band were in the separate function room annex of the Dog and Duck then I wouldn't expect to be able to get in without paying.
-
It depends I suppose, I wouldn't expect to pay to see a band if they were on in a pub, unless the pub had booked and organised it as a ticketed event, but nor would I expect to walk into a function room or hall attached to the same pub when there was a band on in there for free. If that made any sense at all!

Opinions on talking to audience between songs
Si600 replied to bonzodog's topic in General Discussion
I and a couple of mates saw Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish in Birmingham on Saturday. Less Than Jake kept stopping to talk to the audience and invite random members of it up on stage for a dance-off, which IMO completely killed any atmosphere and continuation. Reel Big Fish on the other hand chatted to the audience but kept the songs coming which I think made for a better set. Someone else will have a different opinion of course -
Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby - anyone have a transcription?
Si600 replied to stevie's topic in Theory and Technique
I suppose I'm the only one who thought of the old Access credit card advert then -
Is that the one that can run to 300w with an extension cab? I've got a pdf for it that I can send you tomorrow if it is. Welcome BTW

We're going to need a bigger boat...

Cheers for that advice HJ. I've been to an SE Bash, and had thought of a jam room with a house band and raffles etc, but TBH, as a first event I didn't expect this level of interest! The main atrium is just outside the door and we're able to use that as a milling space, plus we have an external door to the car park if the weather is clement.
-
BC skippers checked with and there's no problem regards the website to selling stuff at a bash. We'll make an area out of the way or you could put a post-it on whatever it is
A solid colour MIA Precision 5er with a Jazz pup, age not important, I'd just like a genuine Fender. More curiously, a couple of flight cases!
Nothing any more, I've got everything, except my P doesn't have a J pickup. Yet...

Grover tuners on a Rick 4003 - A criminal act to replace them?
Si600 replied to Tech's topic in Repairs and Technical
Do you know anyone either into silversmithing/jewellery or modelling? They may be able to repair the tuner instead of buying a replacement. -
I got a 3U flightcase from Matt. As described, a fair price and delivery when he said it would be. Top gent

As far as I could see it's fully equipped, kettle and cooker included. We didn't look through it but I'm sure there are mugs.
