1. I was making noises about having one in Northampton (http://basschat.co.u...bass-bash-2013/) but I didn't get around to doing anything about it. Re-reading my thread the consensus is build it and they will come (maybe ) PM me if you want to collaborate this year on one.
2. No offer of passing on my contact details, just got the response of what do you need to know.
3. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=201019043071 What sort of questions should I be asking about this? The thing that really puts me off is the "selling for a friend" bit.
4. Could I take an instrument jack to 3.5mm jack cable from a line out into the microphone port on a laptop for a quick recording to pass on without any ill effects?
5. I'm going to say warm! I don't dislike the road-worn look, but I'd prefer it to do it naturally, every scuff tells a story sort of thing, so it seems a bit silly to scuff it up without the history if that makes any sense at all!
6. I normally listen to it, play the root notes along with the guitarist and then I listen to it properly and find out all the stuff that I didn't hear in the first place! An MP3 player, headphones and lots and lots of repetition. If I can find the TAB then I'll use it but so many are just plain wrong, even the 5* rated ones.
7. Hey no probs. We all have off moments I do the same thing at work when I've been asked the same question by three different people even though it's new to person number three I'm after a 5 string P-Bass but all the Squires I've seen on the Fender website have a normal p-pickup so the two Jazz setup looked weird to me. There's another on eBay in black with no strings. According to the advert, for a small fee, the seller will string it for you!
8. Does this mean that the new P-Bass 5er on eBay from the US for £700 + about another £70 shipping is going to end up costing more than it would if I bought it over here? I did think it was too nice to happen!
9. Exit to the Imperial March from Star Wars :-) I wanted to but wasn't allowed :-( I also suggesting Killing in the Name Of as the first dance, that got vetoed as well. We both suggested Du Hast but didn't get it or many of our other more sensible suggestions due to the appalling "DJ" we hired.
10.
Yes it's a Squier (note the spelling). Not a Squire.
Yeah, I saw that after I'd posted, but it was late and I'm on my phone. Dannybuoy, thanks for the info Squier5, sorry that I don't know everything and have upset you by asking such an obvious question.
11. Any ideas what this is? The shape is right but the pickups are wrong and the neck plate isn't on straight. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=261366753521
12.
You mean like this one?
Er... Maybe... :;
13. Can you see John Hall making a Lemmy sig? I think he'd top himself first! I'd have a Steve Harris sig if it wouldn't just sit around looking pretty as I'd never use it.
14. Just the question I've been asking myself
15. I got the promise of a gig bag. Now I need to research what's out there and make subtle enquiries as to how much I can spend

1/4 Jack to XLR

Resurrecting this one as I've thought of another question... I've been looking at small mixers, for no better reason than I can. I thought of getting a little one to record to a computer and play about with multiple inputs and generally learn how to use it. If the phantom power is global, as it appears to be on most desks, does that mean you are only able to use powered microphones? Most channels seem to have a normal 1/4 jack as well as the XLR so I'd guess amp line-out's can go in there rather than using the powered XLR on the desk?
17. We're working on a song which has the guitar and bass copying each other note for note under the verse and then root note/chords for the chorus and under the solo. It's a punky sort of number so dirty guitar power chords but when we get to the solo it's just me following the roots with the guitar noodling away on top and it sounds a little thin. Any suggestions on what, if anything, I can add to my sound to fill that gap in? I could play power chords I suppose...
18. Has anyone had any experience of using a Linux based system for recording the output from their interfaces?
19. Thank you
20. I don't suppose any one has the bass dots or tab for Doubleback by ZZ Top do they? The 'net is full of the guitar parts but not the bass.

1/4 Jack to XLR

Ooo crikey DM. It does have two toggles, but as they're between the controls for the inputs and there's no obvious manual online I think there had better be more research. What's a condenser microphone, or rather, is one better than a dynamic microphone? I think I need to rename the thread

1/4 Jack to XLR

If we plug the vox microphone into it won't that need the 48v?
23.
+1 to what 51m0n says! We're posting up a sticky on this sort of stuff fairly soon. Watch this space, etc. Well not literally... go do something useful in the meantime
Wot no sticky?
