1. Dunno about Squier, but the name on the headstock definitely puts me off. On the other hand I love Warmoth. My dull American strat became the best instrument ever once I stuck a Warmoth neck on it
2. Les Mis - My bro is a big fan of the stage show and this was his mini Facebook review: Went to see Les Mis at the cinema today. I've always enjoyed the musical, and I've seen it four or five times since it first came out in 1985. The film absolutely does it justice. Anne Hathaway was astonishing, and Hugh Jackman played a powerful turn. It is the second most powerful film I've seen, only slightly behind "Life is beautiful". The central theme of grace vs law is captured well, but it was able to bring out the raw emotion of Fantine, Eponine and Valjean even more powerfully. Personally I love musicals as films.
3. I am a Christian bass player, but I haven't been affiliated with any church for some years now. This is an old video of me playing along by myself to 'Your love is beautiful' here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCpBYr2ZaRA
4. I'm afraid that I totally don't need another 6 stringer (probably have about 8!) but that looks absolutely lovely! In a perfect world of space and money I'd have one. FretKing make some very good guitars.
5. Thanks for the replies, interesting videos. I definitely feel up for this now. It's just for fun noodling at home, but seeing as I already have most of the expensive kit I figure I might as well go ahead (once I get paid at the end of the month!). I already play keyboards, but there's just something fun about playing with midi sounds on a stringed instrument.
6. check out the pdf on this page. Might be of use, shown high/low inputs. http://www.ashdownmu...etail.asp?ID=75 edit: just seen that new pic of yours - doesn't match that!
7. I don't know if he's still there, but there used to be a staff member in Coda who was both rude and aggressive at times. I couldn't believe his interactions with other members of the public sometimes when I was browsing. One guy came in to see why his guitar wasn't fixed yet and he got a right aggressive earful. After he left the staff member said "right, I'm making sure his is bottom of the pile" - nice! He was there for some years but I haven't seen him in a long time now.
8. I happen to have a roland GR-20 and also a roland GR-55 sitting around (occasional use with guitar), and I suddenly wondered about hooking the bass up. I was wondering if anyone here uses midi with their bass and what they think of the concept in general. Also it would be nice to know if the ROLAND GK3B pickup is any good, as that's the route I'd probably take.
9. Very tempting but Birmingham is a long way from me. The wife would have a fit as well!
10. Sounds like it was ideal service to me. I like them to plug in, check it works and then bugger off out of earshot!
11.
Reading with bemusement. Wonder what would fit better in a motown band: 4-string Bongo or 5-string Fender? :-) CB
Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. I seem to recall that Oasis told the bass player to lose the 5 string if he wanted the gig.
12. What a strange thread. Did everyone suddenly become competitive guitarists overnight?
13. This is all I use right now, several guitar amps sat unused this year
14. Well, if I was moving house I think I'd have left that in the loft as well ....
15. bad timing! I'm desperate for one of these but the coffers are bare.
16. He did a very good job for me on knackered strat frets. Certainly go there again.
17. I have EZdrummer, I don't use the loops, but I have a Roland electronic drumkit and EZD sounds waaaay better than any of the onboard sounds when recorded. Don't confuse me with someone who plays drums though, pretty poor but just about OK for my limited recording purposes!
18. I want that bass!!! Nothing to trade and no money though.
19.
The argument bus no 25 will be along in a moment
Oh no it won't. Sorry, did I get the wrong end of the stick there? My favourite bass tones are active Status, really zappy, punchy etc. but my next bass will be a passive Jazz bass. Horses for courses, as already said.
20. Prob too jazzy for the OP, but as soon as I hear the words 'walking bassline' this gem springs to mind:
21. Oooooh!! I really want one of those. I do need to sell some stuff first though and I'm real bad at that.
22. Probably shown before as I bought this from a forum member! but here's my Status (absolutely bl**dy love it!!!!)
