1. I like to widdle up there. Might as well use everything available!
2. I don't know that much about different basses, but I had the pleasure of a brief noodle on a Roadworn jazz bass recently and it was an absolute peach to play. Can a MIM jazz be set up/altered to play as well with a bit of sorting, maybe smoothing the finish off the back of the neck, rolling the fretboard edges a bit etc? I've never tried a MIM so I don't actually know what they feel like!

Relic J5

Sounds great. Needs to be relic'd!!
4. Are you guys joking??? that bass is awesome!!!! I cried just admiring its beauty. Nah, it's a wind up - it's horrible. Having said that. I'd gladly have it cheap and remove that finish if I still played 5 strings.
5. My mate at work just bought exactly one of these (I can't tell you how much for!) and it is a sweet player indeed.
6. A thing of beauty. I love it! If I win the lottery I'm ordering one! To make it more realistic, it should only work if you keep topping it up with alcohol.
7. I read the title and thought you were modding your bass with one of those 80's whammy bars!
8.
I am LOVING that black 70's reissue pic above!!!! Want.
Doh, got all excitable about that bass but it's 3000 euros!

Spectors?!

@johnfitzgerald: Awesome bass - I love bodies in that sort of colour. I tried a Euro 5 a lot of times and really liked it. Tried an NS5 and it was my favourite bass ever - couldn't afford it though
11. I use them ones there [points to bass]. They came with it. I'm not one for swapping strings much. I don't play bass anywhere other than at home. My hohner Jack V is wearing the strings that came with it when I bought it 16 years ago!
12. Only had time to dip into the tracks a bit (at work and the girls are out of the office) - I really like them! Cool sounding band.
13. Great cover, I loved it! Really good arrangement which retained the characteristics of the song well whilst adding some cool embelishments.
14. Darn it!!! I need to hear some early Genesis now and I'm stuck at work!!!
15. I'm back. Yamaha about £50, Cordoba about £200. I think that settles which one I'd be going for ...
16. That looks like an awesome travel instrument - I want one! I had a brief try on a ukulele and was lost on it, that looks more useable with current skills. How much are they? Actually, that's so lazy, I'll go google them ....
17. I already have a Fender CS, it's a Reggie Hamilton 5 string. Probably on the chopping block now though as I am firmly in the 4 string camp. I guess I'd like the same as a 4 string but relic'd and NOT sunburst!
18.
I don't like dragging names through the dirt, but one player who is highly revered that I got to see play at very close range was Billy Sheehan at a clinic that he played with Paul Gilbert in Cardiff many moons ago. I thought his finger technique was appalling, his bass tone was even worse and his timing just plain sucked. I still really don't understand how this guy is such a big influence to some players. Everything he does seems wrong to me. That said, Billy is a really nice guy to chat to! Very down to earth and very funny.
Personally I think that his live performances are fantastic fun. Great energy and enthusiasm. My favourite gig was a Steve Vai one with Billy on Bass. I don't recall thinking that his timing was out or his technique was bad, but the whole atmosphere was cookin' and immensly enjoyable. Maybe Michal Anthony is a candidate? I remember a few years ago the separated masters for some bands/songs were 'out there' (was it related to guitar hero?) and a lot of people seemed to be commenting on how sloppy the bass parts were on VH recordings when everything around them was removed.
19. Who's that black player that plays slap with the bass mega high up and his right arm seems to come up from under the bass? That's a pretty mad technique to be starting off with, although he was pretty darned good at it! Anyone recall his name?
20. Main amp for the past year has been an H&K Tubemeister, but I'm gonna flog it now. Doesn't get switched on at home since I bought an Axe-fx. I'll probably get a cab and poweramp for it at some point. Main guitar is a Fender strat with Warmoth neck and Kinman pickups.
21. Hmmn, drums in the Garage, full length weighted keyboard in the loft, 3 guitars at work, 3 guitars + an amp on loan in different locations. The picture thing ain't gonna happen.
22. What a fabulous looking bass! If I hadn't blown all my wonga recently I could have been seriously interested.
