1. doh! I'm clean out of cash right now otherwise that would have been right up my street (not that I need another neck right now)
2. Hmmn, looks interesting, although I'm cleaned out right now having bought an expensive bass. I think I'd have gone for a pro job on the repair though. I may return if I get a bit of spare dosh!
3. Bought here from 'sgh', here's one of his pix:
4. Well, the title says it all, I'm back with status after many years away. I'm a tart and I missed the LEDs! My old one was just too heavy (5 string), but my new 4 is just sublime on all fronts. I'm happy. I've not really played bass for a few years now but I feel very inspired again. That's all.
5. Having got back into jogging in my old age, usually for about 40-90 mins 5 days a week, I'm wondering if there are any interesting bass-related podcasts out there that one can listen to occasionally instead of music. Anyone know of such a thing?
6. I love this percussion playing:
7. I'm not in the market for a bass right now, but that is an absolute beauty!
8. The other Bass I'm interested in is a Status.

Funky Slap video

Real nice playing! You could do with the BT a touch louder next time though.
10. I used to really be into 'flash' playing, be it guitar, bass or any other instrument. However, ultimately it all got a bit meh, a bit boring. These days I'm more into great (or flash) playing withing the context of a song or proper composition. I love slap playing, but I prefer to hear a Jamiroquai or RHCP song where it is serving a purpose, rather than an 'impressive' noodle. When I bought Stu Hamm's first album, I loved the track 'country music', however, whenever he seems to play it anywhere he goes as fast as possible and it has lost itself as a composition and become a show-off piece. It doesn't sound half as good.

Large Tramp!

My girls would have loved it but I'm 30 miles north of London so too far away! (not sure the wife would love it though!)
12. I love the sound on those early Stu Hamm records. I didn't originally like the shape of these, but now I find it very appealing. I'm just about to drop a wedge of money on another bass, but if it doesn't come off I'll have to come back for a good think.
13. silddx: really liked it. The first part really caught the pic for me and I liked the aftermath as well. I might have a go myself but it won't be that good!
14.
I can play a lot of different instruments, but I've never got anywhere with drums. It requires the kind of physical co-ordination of all 4 limbs that you've either got, or you haven't!
I've had a similar experience, play quite a few things but with drumming it is so hard to get your feet working properly. But I say go for it! we all have a different amount of natural talent at varied things, maybe it's one of your best.
15. jazzyvee: lovely looking guitar you have there!
16. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of a tele shape as well. I have an awesome custom 'tele' that I put together a couple of years ago, it has a trem (!) and midi, so nothing to do with a real tele, but it's a great shape.
17. Well you sure found your way around that well! I love that scalar bit across the strings. Judging from that vid I think you should get your own 7 string.
18. This sounds great, can we see some in progress pix now?
19. I like slap and I like to hear it, but Dood hit the nail on the head, as a reviewer you have a job to do.
20. I can't cope with the orangeness of orange amps.
21. Ex-Chapman stick player here, I used to have two! I gave up about 5 years ago as I was just struggling with them too much. I still have the best one, and I don't think I'll ever part with it. It looks pretty cool as I had SIMS put some LEDs on it years ago (for practical reasons - dark fret markers on Paduak is not the best combo}.
22.
There's usually loads of these on eBay, some loaded some just the bare body. There's also occasionally some bits on here. Having one made will be costly wherever you go.
I have NEVER seen a 5 string jazz body on eBay!
23. My no 1 jazz 5 string bass is amazing, the most playable bass ever - I don't like the sunburst finish though. I am considering switching to 4 strings and getting a bass with a more modern sound, but the jazz will be staying.
