1. What an awesome gig! I just can't get enough of the John Mayer trio.
2. A curious instrument indeed. I don't suppose I would want one but it would be interesting to try.
3. +1 to Music Radar. Mind you, the classifieds are so well used that you drop off the front page very fast!
4. Just came across this by accident on YouTube. What a crazy bass.
5. Very nice indeed and lovely solo at the end. I think that you should work on better sound quality though. I assume this was mic only. I just love funky bass!
6. Just bought James Durands Bass-tastic album off of iTunes. I absolutely bl**dy love it! I feel so inspired to really get back into bass after a couple of years in the doldrums. I love his whole slapping style, and for me, he really uses it to drive the songs rather than being just a bit of a 'gimmick style' in the way that some people seem to treat slapping. I can't remember when I last enjoyed an album this much. James is a member here, but I can't remember his forum name ....
7. I'm lo-fi. I'm monotypical. Actually I'm a multi instrumentalist so I guess that makes us shizophrenic.
8. I love status basses and that is an absolute beauty, probably the most desirable one I have ever seen! Sure with I had the dosh for that!
9. Oooh! That's a lovely bass. To bad I have my eye on something else at the moment.
10. If I wasn't saving for something else I'd have been VERY tempted by that. Someone needs to buy it before I come back to the thread!!
11. Yeah, big fusion fan. One of my favourite bands of the genre is Chris Poland's 'Ohm". They are just a 3 piece, so lots of lovely bass right up in the mix. Song here, but no 'video' content:
12. I agree that it is all good, with the free bump + nice comments etc. The flip side is that it's really depressing when you post a for sale thread on a forum and it sinks like a stone with nary a single comment other than your occasional desperate bumps.
13. I feel a bit thick for even asking this! My sons friend has taken up bass and got an Ibanez BTB off of eBay. Somehow he bust the low E string (can't imagine how???). Anyway, he got a cheapo spare from eBay but it was quite a bit too long. He stuck it on anyway and wound on a ton of 'thick' string onto the machinehead rather than the taper, and to cut a long story short, it not only bust the top of the tuning peg, but also the internal gubbins! So, I'm getting a new machinehead for him, but the string was too long? would I need to order a specific length?
14. Neither of those seemed ideal, but I have found that Thomann will sell single tuners - wrong colour but it will have to do!
15. Thanks, I'll check out the luthiers, although I'd prefer something old and used really. The trouble with Warmoth and Mighty mite is they work out very expensive with taxes and carriage etc. At least if you throw the money to someone in this country you are putting something back into the UK. chris b: I have a very expensive and pristine bass, but I don't like 'pristine'. I'd like to get something in bare wood to look more grubby generally, and just keep the good body in case I sell one day.
16. I'd like to get a replacement body for my 5 string jazz bass, anyone know who would make such a thing? They don't seem to show up on eBay!
17. My sons mate has recently taken up bass, he's getting on fine but (don't ask how!?!?) he's bust one of his machineheads! Is there anywhere that one can order a single machinehead? The one in question is a gunmetal Jin Ho R-4 made in Korea. His bass is an Ibanez BTB. Surely there must be somewhere out there where you can order a single one?
18.
.... I can't believe there's no one interested in this beauty
It's not that no one is interested, its just that your average joe doesn't have a spare £2K+ hanging around! The NS-4 is always top of my wish list!
19. I think you need to put up pix to sell an instrument. I'm not usually bothered enough to ask for them to be sent, but my head has been turned unexpectedly in the past by an interesting pic. I'm the fish who swam up and found no worm on the hook!
20. interesting project, but a couple of steps too far for me. I'm OK with fretting, but shaping neck and routing body I don't have tools for.
