Yeah its a lovely bass and the neck is fantastic but to be honest Cai its not getting used and I fancy some kind of precision now for a change

I bought this off here last year. It plays great but since I bought the maple Jazz It hasn't even come out of the bag. in Warwick gig bag and fitted with a locking strap I would like to trade it for precision of some kind, maybe a Squire or an SX I would prefer a maple board but its not set in stone Im based in Manchester

So who's seeing the New Year in with their band?
ianrunci replied to Jase's topic in General Discussion
We were at the Royal Spa Theatre in Bridlington with the Joe Loss Orchestra. It was except most of the patrons were on borrowed time I think. Still, the money was good and I have no qualms being a musical prostitute The bass player in the JL orchestra had a nice looking rig though, a 7 stringer and a EA amp and cab. not sure whether it sounded any good though cos I couldn't hear it -

I bought a second hand Warwick CCL 210 on here for 180 quid and I saw another one go for £180 on fleabay the other day. Well worth a punt if you can find one. They are close to £600 new so if you can pick one up for under £200 you have a bargain. They sound great and you can add an extra cab at a later date

I would recommend an Ashdown Mag 300 as a budget head. you can pick them up for under £200. I know a lot of people don't like them on here but I thought mine sounded great so its obviously down to personal taste. Try before you buy is the key. As for cabs I used a Hartke 2x10XL and an Ashdown Mag 1x15 and got a great sound. You can pick them up pretty cheap as well if you shop around
Ian - is the original burst finish still there under the undercoat, or did you strip it? Might be interested if there's a chance of restoring it to original. Would be very interested to see some pics too, if that's OK. Jon.
No I stripped it to the wood. They also did them in a black finish so I suppose that would be the easiest finish to achieve. As for the original finish Im afraid thats well gone -
So presumably those pictures are not of your guitar? Would be interested to see pics. What sort of state is the body in visually? Is it literally all just in a bag? Ballpark figure?
No they aren't, It was my intention to spray it white originally so its been undercoated in white The body and neck are one piece, its been filler primered and undercoated and that's it, it needs flatting down and re undercoating before the top coats. All the parts are literally in a plastic tesco bag lol. I'll try and get some pictures up before Monday, got a busy weekend so it may take a while, but hey "life is long and there is time to kill today" Not got any idea of a ball park figure, just whatever someone wants to pay for it I suppose or even swap it for something -
This was a project I never got finished The body was under coated ready for a top coat but I never got round to it & will need redoing now. I have all the original parts in a plastic bag including pick ups, machine heads bridge and tail piece etc The only thing missing is one of the saddle screws off the bridge. The guitar is an Ibanez Studio 50 or ST 50 as it says on the truss rod cover don't really know what its worth so I am up for any offers, also willing to trade for something interesting I can send photos if anyone is interested This is how it used to look
Spend £2000 on a car and a few years later it's probably worthless. Spend £2000 on a bass and a few years later it's may still be worth £1500 or even more if you wait long enough.
Problem with that is often boutique Basses are difficult to sell as most people tend to plump for well known names. I mean look at Warwick's, you pay £1100 for one and its worth £450 the week after, what's the point of that? The only names that really seem to hold their price are Fender, Gibson, Rickenbacker and Gretch. The rest are down to finding a buyer who actually wants a particular instrument. You also seem to get trends where certain boutique makes are popular and then 2 years down the line no one wants them
If I had the cash, I'd have that off you right now. That's lush.
Your right there mate. I played on this a couple of weeks ago and the neck is fantastic. If I was a bit more flush I would snap this up now. I would recommend this to anyone its light, plays fantastic and sounds like thunder, you must be mad parting with that one Dave
