  6. Welcome Dave.I've got a lot of Texan biker buddies.... Rye/Livingston/Beaumont/Katy/Waco and College Station. Got invited out for a ride for a couple of weeks in 2008. Hired a Harley and did the Hill Country and a bit of Louisiana down the side of a lake in East Texas, over a scarey bridge to Lake Charles. I don't ride much now since I took up Bass last year but I've still got a couple of bikes. Got more Basses though Can't beat Texan hospitality so pleased to give some back Paul
  7. Welcome Steve, I'm near Port Toilet. Would that be Brett from the drum depot Gary? Come along to the Cardiff bass bash in march :-) Cheers Butt :-)
  8. A few months ago I put nickel slinkies on my Squire P Bass. I didn't cut them too short and I got about 4 winds on the tuning pegs. Intonation was spot on , easy to tune each fret spot on and they sounded great. Lately I don't think I'm practising any more but my fingers are getting really sore. I've tried fast fret. Do these strings chew up your fingers the older they get... are they losing some coating or something? They still sound good but the older they get the more they hurt Poor old pinkie
  9. I'm thinking of one and hope to take a look at the bass show :-)
  10. I'm thinking of bringing my beatles bass this time with my Ashdown Mag 300 head and 115T Cab
  11. I've booked myself into sticky fingers restaurant 7pm on the Saturday if anyone fancies it :-) ..but I'm not buying lol
  12. Maybe they can slap the monkey instead :-D
  13. What do you do when you hit the wall with your practising, playing etc? Put the bass aside, do something different, have a break.... Do some theory.... Polish your bass...keep going but do something different? Grab a different book and play a different style? Is there ever a stage where you won't get through the wall, accept that or give up? Me..I just do something different and go back to it at a later stage..... And keep going, sometimes with a swig of Jack :-)
  14. Sitting in a Captain's chair, in front of my iMac , with my Squire P plugged into an Orange Micro Crush playing some really cool blues tracks/examples from Bass Builders Blues Bass The Complete Method by Jon Liebman
  15. How about putting a BC card in the Lanyard with our names on it ready for collection so we can see who we are
  16. I'm planning on buying a Saturday ticket when I arrive :-)
  17. Me too.... wonder why they've discontinued the Pelham Blue already on the Midtown.. I was keen on that
  18. I'm after a Bass in that style .. I've thought about the Hagstrom Viking, the Jack Casady, the Midtown but I'm looking at the Gretsch G5440. I'm hoping to take a look at the Gibsons at the London show but I'm not sure if the Gretsch will be there as they don't have a stand... unless maybe it will be on the Fender stand. Thinking maybe Fender own Gretsch but could well be wrong. Would be interested in knowing the price of this Gibson but the Midtown is a Grand with case so I guess it will be much more. The Gretsch is about £829 but without a case..so about a Grand as well with a case, if you can get one... only seen them for sale in the States that fit.
  19. ..or maybe ... here's the finger slap head.... Free lanyard for the best T design :-D
  20. The bass boost button on my mag 300 has the same effect and it's made worse if the bass is on 3 o clock. I run mine with all levels about 12 o clock , input at 3 o clock and boost off.... Only occasionally does the signal go in the red then ... To my newbie mind it seems to be the low bass signal to blame
  21. cool sitting at my desk with itunes on, bass in hand, playing track 68 of 100 Rock & Roll Workouts for Bass, full of GAS...but I do have a virus
  22. planning on getting my ticket at the door
