  1. Thanks to Scott's Bass Lessons I found the sweet spot for palm muting on my P Bass right brfore the Bridge and it sounded great coming out of the Ashdown Rig :-) Might use that technique on my improvisation test on my forthcoming grade exam

  2. I'll get the MAG 115 at some stage.Gazz.... I know that I'll be able to get full power then..... How do you switch the tweeter on the cab.... It's supposed to be switchable to high, low and off according to an ashdown brochure but I can't find any switch on the 410 T. Have you got a triumph or a dyna fat bob by the looks of it in your photo? I've got a couple of Harleys but I like the Bonnie and the Thuxton.

How do you set up your Amp generally... What settings do you use.... See my other posting earlier today :-)

  3. The Cows in the field loved it :D

Here's our Bedroom Rhythm Section..... we've got the kit, just need to be able to play it....

In which case I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions about it, when you've had a chance to get used to it and give it some exercise.

    Cheers

It arrived yesterday Geoff. :) I'm a novice but I'm running it full input, half EQ all 5 knobs, half compression, almost half overdrive and quarter output and most of my notes aren't going into the red on the level meter. I didn't like the sub-harmonics much but it seemed ok on about a quarter. The deep button seemed a little too much for my P Bass. I used a LoMenzo distortion pedal too on these settings and it was good, not too much.My MAG 410T cab is supposed to have a switchable tweeter but for the life of me I can't find a switch  I don't know how to get the best from the Amp so I'd be interested in any advice. The valve/tube emulator is linked to the overdrive and there isn't a separate button for this, its just the overdrive button. There's a funny looking plastic polo mint type hole on the back of the cab next to the cable in hole and I'm not sure what thats about  I had to take the clock off the wall and the old lady said that the kitchen lights below are flickering. :D

Even if you just play sitting down at home, better than giving up altogether, bass playing becomes part of us. Lovely Rick mate.

    +1 :-)

    What's the difference between 4001 and a 4003?

  7. I like my squire P bass and use it most often but when I get my USA P out of its case , you can tell that it's much much better.....It is far heavier, I can play a lower action on it without clanking frets, when you tune it it keeps the notes after you've put it away and use it again, easier to play but it takes no prisoners... Make a mistake and you can hear it plainly, it's so deep I have to turn the practice amp up, easier to adjust the intonation and rod...... Expect it'll sound much better on a decent amp too..... Buy the best bass you can and pay for it when you can :-)

  8. Welcome..

Gee I haven't heard of Man since the mid 70s..... I used to deliver newspapers for the guitarist I think who used to own Glanmor Post Office Uplands Swansea .... And we used to sit on the wall outside his window on a sunny say listening to him jamming... Oh yeah and I went to see them at the Top Rank in 1974 the night before my Welsh O Level...got pissed and woken up by a bouncer under the staircase at 2am.... Yeah, I failed it :-) enjoyed the gig though :-)

Thats one of the new MAG heads with the grind emulator, right? If so, I'd really like to know what you think of it.
    Cheers

Not sure what the change is Geoff but its got the sub-octave and compression on it as far as I know :-)

  10. I play my first Bass, a Squire P Bass every day and bring out my Fender P on the weekend :-)

I heard a guy from the Affray play a Bongo and it sounded great though :-)

I tried a Stirling the other day in a shop but didn't like it so I grabbed a Mexican Jazz and that sounded better but both sounded fairly crap on the orange combo :-(. .... Maybe because they had it turned down way low and I could hardly hear the Bass

  11. I'm probably going to put in for the grade 3 exam by the end of the month..... Almost cracked the 3 pieces..... Working on 2 more for the performance certificate but might leave that till after Christmas . I've been practising the scales , arpeggios and riff but havent had any practice with the ear tests.

Check out my 3 vids on utube if you want a laugh... Search ukflamesey

    :-)
