  1. Just bought myself a LoMenzo ......... It's cool looking though :-) I'll wait until January now before getting anything else :-)
  2. Check out the Ashdown Facebook page, there is a fuzzy photo of them in development...... :-)
  3. Looking forward to these much smaller pedals coming out in January :-)
  4. G that's clever :-)

  6. I've had great advice and help from Guy
  7. Nice :-)
  8. I got a leather Stevie Ray Vaughan replica from the States on the net. Thought it might look as if I can play Bass :-D
  9. Cool colour..I see it's a special..is that like the P Deluxe with a J Pickup as well?
  10. Ace Deb :-). I got my Fender P out of its case today after 3 weeks and enjoyed it. You might need to tweak it a bit..mine wasn't set up right. I've had all sorts of issues with it, intonation off, pick ups too low, action far too high. Thought I had it ok but was getting some slapping on a fret ... So I had a tweak with the truss rod today ( buttocks clenched) and slackened it off a bit I think..anti clockwise a tad and it seems better now but what do I know :-) trouble is my practice amp can't seem to cope with it..getting some popping .... It sounds soooo low.... My lottery funded Ashdown should be ok when it arrives...
  11. I live in the area but I can't play...... I'll come back to you in a few years :-(
  12. Might look good smashing it on the deck though if someone else buys it for you :-(
  13. Any 81 on BC as Discreet might be a dead man walking :-(
  14. Cool I've got a baseball cap and I'm getting an Ashdown rig...... And I can play like a JJB sports sales assistant..... :-)
  15. Ace, I've got a P so I'll put my boot through my practice amp tonight :-D
  16. I bought some cheap CDs yesterday including Stranglers hits...... Any idea what kind of pedal can create that JJB growl eg the intro to Peaches? What Bass did he use generally back then..a P?
  17. Yep, LMAO...... I'm thinking as I can't play bass, I'll stick a pedal on and I'll sound great :-D
  18. Just ordered a diago powerstation and a couple of fender custom shop tweed patch cables to match my bass cable :-) I'm going to get the ashdown bassometer as my next pedal :-). .... Then maybe a chorus and a fuzz or something...might try the big muff thing and see what that sounds like.... Might buy some more at next years Bass Show :-)
  19. Ace thanks guys.....rock on in a fuzzy way :-)
  20. Hey guys, I've got my first pedal..an Ashdown LoMenzo distortion pedal and bought a 9v adapter for it. I might get a few more pedals but I'm not sure how to connect them up and power them. I've been looking at your pedal boards etc and just took a look at diago mentioned on page 67 of Bass Guitar Magazine this month. The pedals seem to be connected to each other with small cables. So do you plug your bass into the first pedal and then plug the amp into the last one? .... And is it input on the first pedal from the bass, output into the second pedal etc..... What are these small cables called? Diago seem to have something to power all the pedals..... How does that work? Do you just plug it into the first pedal maybe? I don't want to have to use a 9v adapter for each pedal...... I'll probably just rig up a few on the floor unless you think it is better to start making up a board where the pedals seem to be attached by Velcro ...... I doubt I'd use my own board, probably buy one..any recommendations for a newbie? Thanks :-)
  21. I'm thinking of getting my first set of new strings. Thought I might experiment with my squire P Bass and leave my Fender P as it is for a while...... Might get elixirs for that ( good choice ? ). As a newbie I press the strings fairly hard and sometimes I slip off the edge of the G string so I thought I might try heavy guage. Thought maybe custom slinkies...... All strings except the E are thicker...... What do you think or maybe rotosound in a heavy guage........ Will I get a deeper sound out of heavy guage on all strings?
  22. Age 54 and spandex don't go together but I have bought a rattle snake hat band with a rattle on it :-) ...just need to be able to play bass and then join a band :-)
  23. I don't think it's going to work though....... Almost bought a limited edition Hoffner Jubilee for £650...... Probably get a Hagstrom Viking next to see what it's like playing blues, probably a sunburst Hoffner............ And when I'm rich and famous, a Ray, Gretsch, Rickie, .and Jazz........ So I'll probably end up skint
  24. Me, I went from a squire P Bass to a 2012 Fender AM Standard all within 6 months....... Guessed it would be cheaper in the long run :-D
  25. I dunno , as a newbie TAB helps me work out if a third or fifth is being used or used in conjunction with fingering positions what scale is being used ...... But in the last few days I've been working out what notes they are as well..... So I started with just TAB, then TAB plus type of note, shape of notes, timing of notes from the score, and now TAB plus naming the notes...... Maybe in the future I can play automatically just from the score and understand the note name, why and how it's used.... I hope so... On the other hand I might just slap and pop everything in sight or just play straight sixteenth notes... I bet that's done before :-D
