  1. Think it was something like a 57 P Bass..sunburst:-) Good investment on the Hoffner though :-)
  2. I've seen the Sting Bass in the Hard Rock Vault :-) lucky bugger getting one of those Hoffners :-) post a pic when you get it :-)
  3. Looks like I'll have to look forward to this crap if I join a band in the future :-( And I thought it was just get discovered and make a mint :-(
  4. There's an indie rock song in there and you've got to improvise 4 bars..I'm going to try just 4 harmonics and thanks to Jon for the table. That should wake up the examiner :-D
  5. Ace, mine arrives today. Hoping it will sound awesome and interested to hear the new pick ups. :-)
  6. I'm new to this as well..I think the chorus sounds like more than 1 bass, overdrive adds more sound I guess, not sure about compressor, and maybe envelope has the crazy effects.is that about right? Any idea about the Ashdown effects pedals? Any combo pedal recommended? Thanks
  7. Yep been listening to the breakdown of the bass lines but had to use my son's drums cd to hear them properly:-(. Think I'll struggle with the ear tests ..it runs in the family, my boy had trouble with his drums grade 2 test on Saturday :-)
  8. Yep I'll be good when I'm 85 but too old to gig :-(
  9. I'm doing the new Grade 3 as a first exam. Might need a bit of advice :-)
  10. That's 2 of us then so far John :-)
  11. I've always fancied playing double bass in a rockabilly band so I thought maybe a good way to do that would be to learn the Bass :-) I doubt if I'll ever get to it now as there is so much to learn with the Bass. Always wanted to play an instrument and it's been my biggest regret. I'm 54 next week. My 10 year old is a drummer and I saw a kid playing the Bass. I thought, that's it, I'm going to give it a try...2 weeks later a Bass arrived from Germany. :-) been at it now since January. All my spare time is spent reading, listening, learning and playing Bass :-)
  12. Yep I guess....just meant some of the higher frequencies that a tweeter would pick up....inexperienced sorry. Might get the combo with the 2 x10 and tweeter and add to it later a cab without tweeters.
  13. No tests yet, just starting the new Grade 3 :-)
  14. Ace, I can learn from you Bert :-)
  15. Thanks for your welcomes and Bert...... You'll never play for Iron Maiden then :-)
  16. I've been watching a lot of tv lately...I noticed most of the punk guys on Ricks and that surprised me, a lot of the mainstream 1970s guys on Fender P Bass...not heard a Rick but they do look really cool...
  17. Cool thanks, theres hope for me yet. I'll have to practice my fretbuzzes
  18. I'm thinking of my next Amp from my practice 15 Fender. I've been thinking of the MAG C115-300 Evo 11. Its for gigging.........in my bedroom at the moment but I'm looking for a big step up from what I've got. I'll be using a Fender P AM Standard P Bass on it. Looking at the postings I've heard elsewhere that it lacks power than the advertised 300 rms but it seems to me that the options are the 550 Touring 115 at about £565 or the 300 at £288 and get a cab to go with it later, maybe a 2 x10 for some top end?? Does that sound like a plan for a newbie?
  19. Nope, perhaps I should but not heard of him sorry Immo..... it just sums up my playing
  20. Hi guys and thanks Jon for telling me about the site. I'm a newbie since January. I'm on a Squire P Bass at the moment but a Fender AM Standard 2012 MN CCOLA is on its way to me. Just got a 15 w Fender practice amp at the moment. read a few books, had a few lessons, and I'm working on the new Rockschool syllabus Grade 3. I live near Port Talbot. Regards, Paul :-)
