I'm up for this, I'm in London. I may be very near Northampton in a week or two.

I'm with you on this one Discreet. I used compression on gigs for years, but after reading the thread about compression a few months ago (the one that turned a bit sour) I tried gigging without it. What a revelation. I'm now in full control of my dynamics. For live playing I want to be able to express myself fully on stage but I fully understand that a FOH engineer will probably want to compress me in the FOH mix. And for recording it's a must but I prefer to use parallel compression, again, to let the dynamics of my playing come through. To the OP - unless you're after that compressed sound I wouldn't say you're missing out. Give it a go, but don't think you have to use it just because others do. You have more control of your sound and dynamics in your fingers than you might think....
Personally I get cover through Music Guard - that covers my instruments for theft and accidental damage but also provides competively priced PL cover. Two birds with one stone.
I got my equipment insurance from Music Guard, it came with PLI included. £14k of gear covered & £2 million PLI for £400, and I got somebody else named on the policy too. I did the deal on their website but I did make three phone calls to get some questions answered and I found their staff to be really helpful and friendly. They weren't working from scripts and I couldn't fault them. One of my questions to them was who is or isn't covered by my insurance and PLI. The answer was this - if a punter falls into our gear and hurts himself, it's his fault, his problem, he won't get a payout on my policy. If he knocks gear over and damages/breaks it, I'm covered for the repair/replacement. If he knocks gear onto another punter/musician and they are injured, they are covered but he still isn't. I do take a lot of care at gigs to make sure leads are taped down and stands have yellow & black warning tape on them, at least I'd doing my best to not be the cause of somebody tripping over my gear. Thankfully I haven't had to make a claim, so I can't comment on payout or responsibility issues.

I think you nabbed the Q-Tron, I'd just made my mind up to get that. Too late though

I picked up the GR2 that was on sale here recently. For me, it's the best filter I've ever had. So squelchy, very funky. I still love my Mini Q-Tron but I don't use it live because of the volume jump. And my MXR sounds a bit thin next to the GR2. I'd still love to get my hands on a big old Q-Tron and a Proton at some point though, but I'm more than happy with this GR2. Awesome.

I just bought a pedal from Lee. Great comms and quick delivery. It was well packed too. Thanks Lee.

I just bought a case from Andy. He's easy to deal with. The case arrived quickly, and was really well protected with loads of bubble wrap. Top job. Thanks Andy.

Duck Dunne and Al Jackson do it for me. And Steve Cropper. In my book he's a fully paid up member of this rhythm section. Pure gold.

I just bought a pedal from David. As I said before, he's easy to deal with, and when the pedal arrives the next day, it's all good. Thanks again David!

Normally I don't go for this sort of thing, but that was lovely. Beautifully played by all of the band. -
I tried a volume pedal a few years ago but it was overkill for my needs. Now I have 2 boosts on my big board. One is a clean boost for a simple increase in volume. The other pedal is a fet boost which really kicks in the treble as well as volume, and works well driving dirt pedals into nastier sonic territory. I prefer having the boosts because I don't need gentle swells, I like to quickly go from normal volume to fixed, pre determined increases at the press of the foot switch.

I bought a guitar from Rob. He was a pleasure to deal with, and as he only lives a few minutes from me, it was such an easy process from start to finish. He's a nice guy too. Trade with Rob with absolute confidence. Thanks Rob.

A mixture of George L's and pancakes here.

I got a job lot of George L's from David. Another easy BC transaction, good communication and speedy delivery too. Definitely recommended. Thanks David.

I've been using a G30 for about a month now and I'm dead happy with it. I got a charger & 4 rechargeables from Maplins at the same time. Last weekend I used a different bass on one gig and I forgot to take the transmitter off another bass so I had to do the gig with a lead. It literally got under my feet and in my way. It's funny that it has never bothered me in 30 years of playing, until now. I love the freedom of wireless for moving around, and it comes into it's own at soundchecks where I'm often out front mixing with an iPad.

I just bought a pedal from Ed. Great comms and it arrived the next day. He was a pleasure to do business with. Definitely recommended. Thanks Ed.
I just got one and I'm not too impressed. It thins out my sound no end and I have to blend so much clean back in to try to retain my tone, I may as well not turn it on. Although I haven't tried it live yet but I don't think it'll be a keeper for my needs. I have plenty of other pedals that do the low-medium gain drive a lot better.
I finally gigged my Bass Soul Food last night, and I have to say it sounded loads better at high volume than it did quietly at home. It retained the low end well and added some nice bite to my sound. And running it into other dirt pedals worked well too. Pedals just don't sound the same at bedroom levels and gigs. I take back what I said about it, It's now a keeper

I just bought a detuner from Dave. And I got him to make me a couple of speaker cables too. Everything I heard about his cables is so true, they are fab. Great service and fast delivery, another easy BC deal. Thanks Dave.
Tarkin has massive low end, and the particularly useful "Mids" knob. It certainly cuts through, and makes the Bass Big Muff sound like a joke...
That pretty much sums it up for me too.
-
The Nano Muff is a single Muff pedal. A Double Muff has two muff circuits, one cascading into the other, when you flip the switch. I wouldn't expect that the newer NM circuit to sound just like the older DM though, as is the case with EHX's other reissues like the QTrons.

Dude, how do the B and C models sound on bass? I can see guitarists getting a lot of bang for their buck with this kind of pedal, but do you think they're worth the price for bass?
