1. Punk was in many ways anti-music....but was totally necessary at the time. In fact, judging by the state of the current popular music business we need another punk like event to do the same all over again.
 2.
Hold them in the same group as The Bee Gees and Alt J. You may have some awesome tunes but until you stop pissing about with the vocals I just can't listen to you.
If I were to play devils advocate I would suggest that although he is intensely annoying to some....he is inimitable. Is that ever a bad thing for a vocalist? Just wondering.
 3. Oooooh, the Laklandbird also has a supertone bringing up the rear. Beautiful bass! Me likey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 4.
That's probably because there isn't much alternative decent fare on primetime weekend TV. There's a limit to how many repeats of Grand Designs and Foyle's War that one can digest. I do agree, though, that BGT is utter rubbish - although holding a rabid fanaticism for The Voice, while not quite agreeing with all the judges' preferences.
The voice is ruined by Jessie J & William imho.
 5.
Best live sound; Percy Jones playing a Wal at the Venue, Victoria around 1979. Never heard anything that compares or comes close. Absolutely staggering sound. Best recorded sound - Chris Squire on Close to the Edge.
You have taste sir! Cannot argue with either.
 6.
Couple of new pics, now has a wenge back, spec also slightly changed... ebony board with wood block inlays and binding, should look v sexy! http://s1294.photobu...html?sort=3&o=1
That is going to be a gorgeous bass.
 7.
Johnny Marr playing in May this year, with Andy Rourke as a special guest. https://www.youtube....be_gdata_player
Very cool.
 8.
I'm offended by your comment, please don't be mean to pond life
I would like to take this opportunity to unreservedly apologize to all forms of pond life for my previous comment - especially tadpoles & newts, who actually have more talent, a better attitude and a higher IQ, than Liam.
 9. Beautiful bass. Have neither the required cash or trade at the moment though ......Bump!
 10.
Thank you. Possibly in several years time once I can play a bit. Maybe I shall also purchase the SR 1200??
You mean you cant play the Yamaha?? Well done with the purchase awesome bass dude. Play it in a healthy fashion.
 11. Good luck with the Yamaha.....it will serve you well sir!
 12. Sorry, but I just never bought into the Oasis are magnificent hype...and I consider Liam to be pond life.
 13.
Wow - that brings back memories - had it on vinyl!!!
I am a big JLP fan. I still remember hearing Ralphe Armstrong's bass solo on "The struggle of the sea turtle to the sea pt3" - really blew my socks clean off my feet lol.
 14. So many different tones that are great. It's horses for courses. I think it's actually hard to get an overdriven bass tone just right; Justin Chancellor on 10,000 days nails it..but to my ears Geddy Lee has got it wrong over the last few years (Rush fans, I am one of you don't hurt me!). Personally this is the one that ticks all of my boxes. http://youtu.be/Rf6tp2c6nMM
 15.

One of their best. I recently saw them perform this on "Rockpalast" on Sky Arts and it was even better!!
 16.
Andy Rourke: great player, end of. And for all you people who missed Mr Marr on Jools...
Thanks for sharing....that was really good. Didn't realize Marr had such a good voice.
 17. Interesting to note that the judge who presided over the whole legal unpleasantness commented that he found Andy to be honest and straightforward....and Morrissey evasive, truculent and to be of only a moderate intelligence! Wow, what a spat.
 18. Excellent...so glad I am not alone in my admiration.
 19. Totally agree with all that has been said so far...thoroughly enjoying discovering their material in depth in my maturity. Very creative and original indeed.
 20. Okay.. so my eldest daughter has recently "got into" the Smiths therefore I have decided to actually listen to them a bit too. As a young (rock biased) player to me they were "uncool" - all I could really remember about them at the time was an extremely controversial and wacky Morrissey with flowers hanging out of his jean pocket, and various guitarist pals raving about Johnny Marr....but in retrospect some of their material is guitar indie at its best, and I am loving it. Many of the bass lines really stand out to me as genius. I read recently that during a court tussle over royalties Morrissey had branded bassist Andy Rourke as a "nobody" if not for him...which I feel is a real disservice to a really great bassist. Here is a killer bassline - any other love out there?? http://youtu.be/kGnjrTkv1gs
 21. Oooh... had a fretless version of this back in the day. Very nice!
 22.
What's a shredder! *looks anxious*
Lol a flashy/technical show off (no offence to shredders).......
 23.
I think I'm some kind of oddball (I know it's obvious) when it comes to kit. I kind of see a Bass choice as a very personal thing. I have read comments on here saying that the bass I own is a pile of sh*t. I'm not bothered, the bass I own fits me & my playing style perfectly, there are other more famous basses that I personally dont like as I dont like the feel, weight, balance, neck......whatever, anyway my personal view is that I see kit as a tool to do what I need it to do there are some pretty kit out there but you get the kit you need & make sure it fits you. I have seen very loyal attitudes towards certain brands on this forum before, I often dont share their opinion. Some people will like certain things others wont. It just down to the individual.
Spot on sir.
 24. Welcome Yolanda. I enjoy your music very much, nice to have you onboard
 25.
Just like Sean says , you get a lot more than just the ARE and IRA when you pay the extra . Whether it is worth more than a grand more depends on the priorities of the person buying , but my point is that if you are looking to spend money on a high-end bass for whatever reason , the Yamaha is actually a bit of a bargain when you compare it to other basses of similat quality , most of which cost a lot more . A full spec US Lakland , NYC Sadowsky or Mike Lull , for example , will easily set you back a grand and more than one of these Yamaha's at U.K prices , but these BB's are easily in the same league as all of them .
Fair enough...a sound rationale!
