  1. Oh, I owned one just like this about 25 yrs ago....it was a fantastic P bass. These were the Lakland Bob Glaubs of their day - i.e. as good as vintage Fenders and arguably better than the new US Fenders equivalent of the time. Good luck...bump!
  2. These are really great P basses. Better than your average US Fender in my opinion. This is an extremely fair price! If I still played 4 strings I would have bought it. Good luck!
  3. I agree...ugly beast! Now, if it was an Eagle or perhaps a Mockingbird.....?!?!?!?! BC got it right with those babies for sure. On the plus side, this is a really great, great price and would make a young metalhead VERY happy indeed. Best of luck with the sale.
  4. Awesome bass and Karl is a great seller...c'mon somebody - this is well worth this price all day every day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Wow, that is very lightweight for an Alembic! Beautiful top on this bass - the price is very fair too. Alembics are an acquired taste but there arent many basses that sound better. Good luck!
  6. I owned a very similar Vigier Arpege in the 80's - an incredible bass. Best of luck with the sale, killer instrument!
  7. Strange - I played several Laklands religiously live for a number of years and I found them to be truly exceptional....much better than US Fenders. Perhaps the new ones are not of the same quality????
  8. I was lucky enough to own a Mk1 back in the mid 80's - bought it brand new on the never never (£750).....didnt eat, drink, drive or have a love life for the next few months as I payed it up on my meager wage. Was it worth it? Well...Yes...and no. You have to consider the fact that during this time there were very few hand custom luthier type basses on the market (Alembic, Wal, Status, Jaydee, Ken Smith, Vigier) or you could have a P or a J or a Rick - today there are a confuusing myriad of builders making incredible basses that have incredible elecs and stunning woodworking. The generic tone of the Wal was sublime, and I agree with aforementioned testimonies above - it was the only bass on the market that could compete with the insanely expensive Alembic series basses of the era. The sounds were to die for. The electrics/pickups/tonal controls are what make these basses special. There is nothing complicated or flashy about the design or woodworking of these basses..relatively simple/understated bolt on neck design, simple laminated body facings onto a core...but in fairness built to a great standard. The negaitves? Mine was VERY heavy...it hurt to play for more than 2 hours live. The neck is an acquired taste with its distinctive old school Fender vee shape - but it grew on you ...and it actually improved my left hand technique. I eventually traded it (a direct swap) for a Jaydee Supernatural that turned out to be a complete disaster as the Jaydee neck failed and ended up with a terminal backbow that resembled a banana which rendered the bass as useless (JD had received a rogue batch of Mahogony during this period) but thats another story. The biggest regret of my life was parting company with my Wal.
  9. Beautiful bass!
  10. Now this really is a steal at this price. Had one of these in the 80's and it was the cats pyjamas!
  11. I agree with the weight = tone arguement..but it kills my shoulder all the same. I had a 4 string mk 1 with identical facings back in the day. It sounded incredible - but weighed more than my car This bass looks superb, good luck with the sale.
  12. A word to the wise - after recently selling a Sadowsky Preamp here at BC I attempted to ship my parcel to Spain to a fellow member using the parcel2go company. I would advise anyone here to AVOID this company as they messed me around no end. I booked my parcel uplift with them and payed in full using google wallet - a matter of hours before the booked uplift I find that parcel2go have cancelled it (without telling me) as they asserted I had not payed! My parcel was not uplifted despite me providing proof of payment. After several days of "tooing & froing" I eventually receive a grudgingly made apology and a refund. Beware parcel2go and avoid - I will never use them again. After delving into google reviews of this company it becomes alarmingly obvious that I am not the only person to have had very negative experiences of this company.
  13. I'm surprised this hasnt been snapped up at this price...gorgeous bass. Have a bump on me!
  14. I cannot believe this has not been snapped up!?!? A handmade English Overwater for £600.....insane!
  15. I rate these Laklands very highly...and this is a great example at a very reasonable price! Have a bump on me.
  16. Pm sent. I want it!
  17. Sold pending payment!!!
  18. considering that it has not only a Badass but a Hipshot D tuner fitted this is a great buy. Only few mies from me too. Devil, get behind me!!!
  19. BUMP! Buyer has went off the radar.
  20. Sold pending payment !!!!!
  21. Bump! Nobody here has a passive Fender, Lakland or anything else and wants to give it a Sadowsky active EQ for a measley £115????????????? I'm surprised fellow bass chatters!!!!!
  22. Still toying with the offer of a trade for Paulie's Blackbox and one potential buyer is also making tentative enquiries. I'm really surprised nobody hasnt snapped this up. Great piece of kit for not much cash. Humpty bumpty in the meantime!
  23. I have been using the 2x10 version extensively for over two years now and I think it is really great. Like some others here on the forum I sold my old tried and tested Trace Elliot gear and switched to the BG500 combo. Lovely features, great tones...very very loud. Whats not to like? Perhaps a little bit heavy, but not an issue for old schoolers like me who cut their teeth lugging 150 watt amps around in the bad old days that weighed around the same as a family car!
  24. I am going to bump this again...purely because I gigged my new SR1205 last night and have played it all day today - and it really is an amazing bass for the money. Plays better than my old Wal did and quite frankly is a huge amount of bass for this cash!
