The P is a veritable silver bullet!

Well, I finally cut a deal with Bassbros recently after being a bit of a voyeur for some time. The deal was struck with Will over the course of several WhatsApp messages-and I had to prompt him a couple of times-but otherwise I reckon they over delivered. I received a fair trade-in and my new bass arrived exactly as described on a day of my choosing, perfectly set-up with new strings of my choice. I'll be back.

Not sure about hating my basses, however I never love any of them because they all leave me in the end.

In my opinion you don't learn to play a musical instrument you just play. Have fun. Nothing else matters.

Sims Super Quad pickups and builders who use them
White Cloud replied to Jolltax's topic in Bass Guitars
I owned an Enfield Lionheart and it was a superb instrument. Very 'Walesque' by design, although I much preferred it to my Wal playability wise. The pickup system is extremely effective and very clever indeed. That said, as has been said, I only settled on a couple of settings/tones, whilst the other gazillion went to waste.- 26 replies

A mysterious chip appears on your brand new bass guitar.... you....

E: I'd rejoice. Nobody likes pristine basses, right? -
Same, including a faulty preamp and proud inlay.

Don't you just hate being flannelled

Bands mean people, and people are a problem. Always. -
If you could, would you be a Pro player
White Cloud replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
I had the chance to go pro towards the late 80's through circumstance - you know, one of those right place, right moment deals with a Glasgow band flying high in the charts ... As a school dropout with no qualifications two buses arrived at the same time and another opportunity coincided, namely the offer of a 'job for life' which paid well and offered a good pension. Once I'd weighed the implications I opted for the steady income stream. No real surprise, I hated the job. It's particularly difficult for those more inclined to creative expression to fit into the mainstream. Nonetheless, in the end it gave my family a comfortable life and I retired at fifty-two. Given the 'what if' factor, would I do the same again? Definitely not. If I had the chance I wouldn't do anything again. Why would anyone. Life's about new experiences, right? My only regrets centre on the things I didn't do. -
Each mistake is a lesson and each lesson makes you better. Just never give up

Pop an Allen key or screwdriver into one of the facing holes and turn: right-tight (less relief), left-loose (more relief). Just like the rod systems featured on Musicman and a few other brands.

Me too. One of my least favourite basses ever. Immense preamp and pickups tho!

I'm genuinely surprised about this. Honestly, I've played gigs forever and nobody's ever cared a jot about my gear. Maybe it's because of my playing 😂

For me it's akin fixing stickers on your car ... Just no! Then again, horses for courses, live and let live and all that. I read once that Gail Ann Dorsey always secretes a picture of Marilyn Monroe underneath her scratchplates - now that does appeal to me.

I had a Wal and an Overwater at one point, both in the region of 11lbs. That was too much for me and they got flipped.

I love Karn and Pastorius and see no need to pitch one against the other. It's like arguing over What's the best curry down the local tandoori.

Thanks, I'll try them out 😃

How's the tension?

Which bass do you want, even though you shouldn't?
White Cloud replied to BassAgent's topic in Bass Guitars
Completely impractical for anything I've done, like, ever. Nonetheless, I recall starting out in the early days and hanging around the local library (I was wild back when): there was this picture in a book of some hippy playing one of these and, y'know ... Bass porn to an impressionable young lad -

So sad to hear this news 😔
