  1. Not everyone's taste but certainly mine. This was a huge influence on me. Jeff Berlin is one of my favourite players. I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time with Alan Holdsworth a few years ago... such a lovely, humble man. He was an absolutely astounding talent.
  2. Swoon... Be still my beating heart. Stunning and very tempting.
  3. I don't want to be 'that guy' but do we really need yet more Fender copies? (As good as DL's will undoubtedly be).
  4. I really like this idea. Why not?
  5. Stunning Tobias clone. Looks very high-end indeed. Lovely... good luck with the sale!
  6. Agree 100% regarding the Steinberger: one of the pinnacles of bass guitar design IMO. Disagree 100% regarding the 'amorphous' Spector description: one of the pinnacles of bass guitar design IMO (and yes, Warwick 'borrowed' the design). I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I had the funds.
  7. It was indeed due to a rogue batch of Mahogany and the fact that the demand for Jaydee basses outstripped the capacity for on-point QC (at that time). I had one of these during the late 80s and the neck developed a back bow which would rival a banana. The only bass that ever made me cry. I'm over it now.
  8. Fantastic singer and bassist. I loved Budgie back in the day. Healing thoughts go out to Burke; that final Budgie release could also be very interesting.
  9. Stunner... Love these sort of gig stories/ photos of basses.
  10. I think so. Mine was really nice overall but the pickup routing on the bridge pup was oversized and very sloppy (surprising given the CNC tech).
  11. I can totally relate: My experience with the flea was the same. Oddly enough, I found the pups much too 'dark' .
  12. Truly excellent all round... but never apologise for being Scottish!!! Loved it.
  13. Fabulous idea, a really unique thread. I'm not your guy but wait with baited breath to see how this goes!
  14. That is a killer bass right there!
  15. Beautiful flame ash on the natural finish, never seen that before on a Vigier. Great basses!
  16. Maybe it's one of those urban myths?
  17. I know that Ian Waller and Pete the Fish at Wal insisted that the dense and heavier Mahogany core was a prerequisite for 'that sound'. I'm guessing Chris May is on the same page?
  18. Beautiful! Fantastic basses.
  19. Fantastic basses! I owned a progress 3 deluxe; sublime design and build quality, wonderful playability and KILLER tone. Alas, at 11lbs my spine couldn't take it, so I had to move it on.
  20. Thanks! It really is special in the flesh, very tactile. Funnily enough, when it arrived and I removed it from the packaging my confused wife stated, "It's bent!! Send it back" lol🤣
  21. Sure thing!
  22. I recently bought a brand new Spector Euro LX (Poplar Burl): Its my first ever Spector and I'm so impressed with it. Possibly the most beautiful bass I've ever owned (from a very long list). So much so it makes my ACG and Vigier look plain! I personally love 'that EMG sound' but, as others have said, the Tonepump is 'hot' on stock settings. I've just made the adjustment described elsewhere to turn it down (a nice feature). I was surprised at the reductionist control-cavity; very clean, precise and empty lol. To my ears, this bass sounds similar to the old Steinberger XL. Fat, burpy, well-rounded low-end. All in all: A beautifully designed and built instrument. Flawless in fact. Looks sublime, plays like a dream, well-balanced, relatively lightweight and sounds incredible. What else is there?
  23. Be still, my beating heart. Outstanding!
  24. Perseverance is often worthwhile... I found them really fantastic to deal with.
  25. I loved the Steinberger tone
