I've been playing for 45 years and still haven't arrived at this stage yet!

Overrated: Rickenbacker's. Overpriced one trick ponies that are a mare to set-up with soft fretwire. Underrated: Rickenbacker's. Regardless all else whenever I've hated mine then sold them I've immediately missed them. Weird!

Very good basses in my experience. I reason if they had the 'F' word on the headstock they'd sell in large quantities at double the price. It's worth noting that the necks fall into the skinny category and may need a regular tweak upon the truss rod.

Got to admit, when I saw the topic I thought this thread was going to be Spinal Tap related ...

I have total admiration for the capabilities and creative vision of the musicians involved - and the fact that they are making a living doing what they love - but that was a tough listen (and I like modern jazz).

On reflection, I've seen Rush many times...the first being the Hold your Fire tour in 1988. For me the HYF tour was my favourite with the others incrementally tailing off. Law of diminishing returns? Don't get me wrong I'm a Rush diehard however, I found it almost painful at the end given Ged's loss of vocal range.

As ever, bands require people and in almost every circumstance people are a problem. What's the answer? To be honest, I don't really know. You can never control external influences (especially other people) but you can control how to react to them. I reckon it comes down to two choices: Compromise. Accept and be prepared to repeatedly take their inadequacies and foibles on the chin. or Leave and try to find people who better fit your model of the way you'd like things to be.
