1. Still no pics...bah! The OP is obviously a NBD tease.
2.
Well, if £400 is a good price, I think I might be quite happy then.
It is a good price as they retailed new for around the grand mark. These are serious professional quality instruments for sure.
3. I had an absolutely excellent transaction with Salotti for his Corvette. Excellent packaging, comms and super quick delivery from Italy to the UK. This seller is highly recommended, buy with utter confidence. Bump!
4. I would say that £400 is a good price for one in good condition. I own a 2010 Korean Pro series unlined fretless Corvette and the instrument is sheer class and easily on a par with any German Warwick. Earlier pro series were built in Germany. Modern Rockbasses are excellent instruments...but certainly not as good as the pro series in my experience. If you require any info on mine just drop me a pm
5. Oh dear, read this expecting to be giving advice on eye tests and spectacles....I jest not! ACG are stunning instruments. I recommend that you talk directly to Alan about the kind of bass that will tick your boxes.
6. Tough one this. I had a similar situation with a Lakland 5501 that arrived with several bashes via mail order. Because it was a relatively inexpensive I took it on the chin after the company agreed to give me a discount and send me a luxury gig bag and a couple of sets of strings. I could live with it under these circumstances. Your position is slightly different - the Gibby must have been expensive.
7. Super, super nice instruments.....as good as anything on the market.
8. Very cool. I owned one of these back in the day. Pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures pictures They tell more than a thousand words after all.
9. Congrats...stunning instrument indeed.
10. I am another victim of an 80's Jaydee Supernatural that had a terminal neck back bow....for the massive inconvenience and heart break that I suffered I personally would never go there again. Good luck to you though, I hope you find a good example. They are exceptionally beautiful looking basses.
11. Sting is a great bassist...in no way a virtuoso, or master of the instrument...but a really great bassist.
12. Big thumbs up for fretless here also....I just love it. Regarding the Thumb your instincts are guiding you in the right direction, my unlined Warwick Corvette growls and bites like a Tyrannosaurus Rex....and sings like a songbird. Warwick do fretless basses very well indeed.
13. Great to read about this development. Chris May and Jimmy Moon are both gentlemen of the highest order.
14.
I know nothing about all the scientific facts etc.. but the maple boards are definitely brighter to my ears, and I have even swapped the necks and tried both necks on the same body and electrics/settings etc.. I'm sure people will tell me I'm wrong though!
You don't need to know anything about scientific facts...sounds are perceived by ears not statistics. Your ears define your subjective reality...they cannot be wrong!
15. Awesome in its awesomeness. Frank is a legend....but make sure he doesn't hoover all of the buffet up!
16. +1 to Warwicks. They are a bit unfashionable at the moment for no apparent reason whatsoever...thus the second hand price makes them a steal. My main bass is a Corvette and it is superb.
17. Agree with the above posts. I was lucky enough to own both a great Hard Puncher and fretless Tokai "Jazz sound" jazz bass during the 80's - they were both absolutely fantastic basses and much cheaper than my more expensive 70's Fenders.
18. I owned one back in the 80's. I can vividly recall it being significantly better than the USA Precision that I owned at the same time.
19. Percy Jones is a fine purveyor of the veritable ghost note.
20. Hmmmm.....already too expensive and overpriced IMO.
21. Make it fun, interesting and always encourage her....do not however attempt to force it upon her in any way at any time.
