1. Desperately sad to read this news. John was a truly excellent bassist. Sublime taste and tone. What a loss
 2.
im not a Stingray man but i do love them. Ive always owned Jazz basses. when i played a SR4 it blew me away. i ve owned an SR5 that was amazing. still have not owned an SR4 which are different, in lots of ways. anyways this guy is great on a Music Man.
Still have that on VHS...bought it when it was originally released. Excellent! I have some old demo's that I recorded with one of my old bands back in the 80's...I recorded them with my old Stingray...probably the best recorded bass sounds that I made. Considering my other bass was a Wal custom at the time it says all there is to know about that....now. I cant even remember what happened to that old stingray. And I knew a guy who knew a player who had a brother who owned a stingray just like it...in fact it not only looked like mine but sounded just like mine...and he wondered why I never kept mine. Great basses.
 3. I would say that £90 for a de-fretting at the Gallery is very good value for money. I would also say that de-fretting a factory fretted board would be no drama. I know that it is not the ideal way to go, but from personal experience I have never had any big problems using round wound strings on untreated fretless fingerboards ( I have owned a few) despite what many say.
 4. Beautiful. I love explorers. I'm about 90% certain that Ibanez manufactured these during the 80's...they were readily available in the UK.
 5. Tony Levin on the Peter Gabriel Album So - I have no idea what kind of amp or other gear that he uses. Just awesome.
 6. Brilliant P basses...cool seller. No brainer. BUMP!
 7.
I just don't get it. Clayton has whored his name round so many bass manufacturers, I've lost count. I really just don't like the guy, met him once and he was thoroughly unpleasant. He's not that good a player and (go on, do this) a quick search on his name in Google images just seems to show hundreds of the same photo...the same smug look on his face, a la; I'm-not-looking-at-my-bass-and-you-know-I-think-I-just-cracked-out-a-very-smelly-fart-as-well. Right place, right time I suppose. Dee Dee? At least the guy played and effing Precision. Maybe I'm just tired. P
Nancy, you are not a big fan of Mr Clayton....I can sense these things!
 8.
Glaubs people, you know, the Fenders Fender should have made Superb P's.
Word!
 9.
Perhaps you were, iirc this track is credited to have Glaswegian backing vocals. Rush Exit Stage Left 1981 Closer to the Heart https://www.youtube....h?v=4Mw_c9U7p14
Unfortunately I wasn't there! :-(
 10. Totally agree...NM was a very big influence on me during that classic Whitesnake era. Superb bassist. I would love to have played with Rush during the Moving pictures tour that spawned "Exit...stage left!
 11. I would guess that this bass sounds awesome.
 12.
I've played both and the Japanese one was better constructed than the USA one .
Me too.
 13.
Bump, nobody got an opinion on these?
I almost bought one a while ago, the most comfortable 35" scale 5 string bass that I have ever played.
 14.
Ha ha the bloke also had a Wal defretted identical to mine in a funky red Wal case in his cupboard, he wasn't selling that tho.
He has good taste! (like you )
 15.
Thanks it really is great. I saw it advertised locally and nipped up to see it and loved it.
Wish I had seen it first
 16. This is a gig that I truly I would have loved to have witnessed.
 17. Beautiful bass, that is a wonderful acquisition well done.
 18.
Yes sadly this is true, thanks to so called austerity punishing the poor for being poor
We are all in it together...apparently.
