I am sure it happens now to an extent in all areas of the UK...but many of the people living near me on benefits own Ipads and iphones. I wish I could afford one of those
 2.
Not really surprised as we seem to be breeding a society that expects and demands so much. The sense of fariness is out the window and it is a free-for-all where people will take what they want and if someone is stupid enough to let them take it, then more fool them. And they say we evolve..???
Sadly this often appears to be the case. I remember struggling as a child...we were dirt poor like all other working class people were, I wore "hand me downs" with patches on the knees and elbows of my clothes. We used to wake up during the winter with ice on the inside of our windows as we had no heating. This generation don't know hunger.
 3.
Omar Hakim-Drums Mino Cinélu – Percussion David Rhodes – Guitar Friðrik Karlsson – Guitar John Giblin – Bass Jon Carin – Keyboards Kevin McAlea – Keyboards Jacqui Dubois – Backing vocals Sandra Marvin – Backing vocals
Wow! Some real big hitters there.....
 4. Great basses...very underrated. Love the Foundation - nice one!
 5.
Great stuff, many thanks....Just wish I had the money a buy one.
Had one but moved it on....it just wasn't for me.
 6. Allow me; http://youtu.be/80dsyo2Ox-0
 7.
The bass gallery has a CT replica / Tribute if I recall.
I had that bass built for me....it is a good bass.
 8. I would say that this is a bargain....and won't be hanging around much longer. Not too heavy either.
 9.
Has anyone ever upgraded their 'non Alembic bass' to Alembic electronics and if so did it make a huge difference? Thanks!
The compressed answer is...yes it would make a significant difference. I always much preferred the electronics package fitted to Wal basses than Alembic. Apparently Alan @ ACG utilises a electronic filter package system that is an improvement over both Alembic and Wal at a significantly cheaper price point. If you are serious about making this kind of upgrade it would be a folly not to at least touch bass with Alan (a member here "skelf") for advice.
 10. I emailed Jon recently and received a quick reply. This must be a good omen.
 11.
What is the difference between the SR500 and SR600? Are they available with maple board? Which of the SR series is most suited to reggae, using flatwound strings for a clear deep smooth tone?
The 500 has a Mahogany body, the 600 has Swamp Ash; otherwise they are identical. Neither come with a Maple board but both would be perfectly suited for Reggae as the pre-amp offers considerable bass boost/treble cut.
 12. I honestly don't think the body wood on these basses will make a bit of a difference. Six of one...half a dozen of another.
 13. If you have to buy a Fender then make sure it's an acceptable American model. If you want a really good Fender then buy a Lakland.
 14. There is something so right about this bass. I love it.
 15.
So it's my 21st coming in just over a month and I've been told by my parents that I can have some money towards a new bass. Thinking I'll go for a limelight and it's going to certainly be a 62 era P Bass. Now the question is; Do I go for Shoreline Gold with a matching headstock and Tort guard? OR Do I go Lake Placid Blue with a natural headstock and Tort guard?
It's always good to have choices. The best thing about having choices is making those choices, because we all know what we all like....don't we?
 16. Cod vs Haddock, Lager vs Cider, Salt n Vinegar vs Ready Salted......... Sigh.
 17.
Sooner or later it will descend into "my dad is bigger than yours!"
............!
 18. This why I never buy sight unseen online. I feel sorry for the OP. Poor show from both Sandberg and Thomann all round.
 19.
Surely the answer to your question is Geddy Lee anyway?
I would have to disagree with that.....
 20. I just don't see the point of this. A bass player is a person who plays the bass. This thread makes about as much sense as a "which male bassist has the best technical ability?" or "which bass is the bestest bass ever?". What next....who is the greatest ever gay bassist?...who is the most talented bassist of Jewish origin? Sooner or later it will descend into "my dad is bigger than yours!" Pointless.
 21.
But women are still under-represented in the world of Bass (although it seems not as rare as lead guitarists and drummers! :- ) , so it is lovely to see their achievements celebrated.
Also very true. I once heard a great bassist on the radio, and it really was great bass playing indeed. I was impressed. Funnily enough, purely by coincidence I saw that same great bassist playing the exact same piece of music on the TV a short time later....and I saw a great bass player. I found out that her name was Tal Wilkenfeld and that she was female. That great bass player was great at playing bass. Did I mention that half of my ancestors were female? I am glad that you are enjoying playing the bass and that you are getting lots of encouragement, stick at it. We usually become good at the things that we love doing.
 22. I used to own one of these in the 80's and it was better than my vintage Fender jazz. This is a lot of bass for the money.
