  1. Bloody spewing I missed it. Will have to wait a year for it to come on sale again now!!!
  2. I have he odd night where I don’t set a foot wrong, but they are the minority. Most of my gigs, there would be the odd bit here or there. Very occasional, I would have a bit of a blinder, but I have never had to stop a song (luckily!!). I think you need to play as a band an awful lot to avoid this (a few nights a week). I fall into the category of “remember all the notes in a song” type of player, which plays into the hands of disaster if you forget. I want to learn to be a player who always knows what key/chord progression a song is. It won’t guarantee against disaster, but should always keep you close enough to be out of trouble!!
  3. Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone signed up for the Ed Friedland walking bass lines course via Scott’s bass lessons? i messed about with it too long and missed out, just wondering if anyone has had a look at it yet?
  4. Let me know if you decide to sell again!
  5. Thank god for that!! I was beginning to think it was just me 😂
  6. Really?? 215’s???? i have a set and find them fine for vocals but they become overloaded with bass frequency very easily!!! Any time I have tried to run them with bass through they just distort!
  7. Absolutely. In my experience, if you want to attend a jam night, it is really a two step process. 1. Go, introduce yourself and ask for a list of half a dozen songs they play regularly, and go away and do your homework. 2. Go, say remember me? Can I get up and play one or two? I learned all the songs in your list, so happy to step in on any of them. Once you have proven yourself capable, you should then be able to attend more regularly and get more opportunity ultimately, I was running a jam night, I would be hesitant to just let someone unknown get up and have a bash when I know I have a room full of regulars who can help me entertain the punters!!
  8. What bass are you running??? i suspect that your issue is not your amp, but either your eq, or the height of your cab. If it is not either of the two, then you are getting frequency interference from another or multiple band members.
  9. What a lovely example!! One string too many for me though!! Good luck with the sale!!
  10. Silly price this!! Imamazed it’s still here. Like everyone else, if I had the cash I grab this!! GLWTS
  11. Just a quick update on this, my replacement strings arrived today 😄 i suspect they would have been here weeks ago, but they got sent back to EB on account of them not putting my phone number on the shipping info!!! well done EB i’m one happy bunny 😄
  12. I got to be honest Blue, a late 60’s svt through an 8x10 is my idea of sonic heaven, but until such time as I can afford to pay a road crew to carry it for me (no time soon!!!) it’s not an option. The Fusion 550 keeps me happy!!
  13. @blue I did like my rb1001rb, it was very clear and bloody loud!! Like you say, it had headroom for days especially at 4 ohms. My only gripe was that it was difficult to get what I would call a “warm sound” but that may just be my paying style. When I switched to the fusion 550, it opened up the option of that warm vintage sound I was looking for plus still had the ability to do the GK sound. If you get the chance, give one a try. Plus I enjoy watching the motorised Knobs move 😂
  14. I love the look and feel of my Spector euro and rebop basses. I am lucky enough to have 2 euro’s and 1 rebop which all have different voices, so have some versatility. I love my GK Fusion 550 and Neo cabs, the head can go from warm and vintage, to bright hi fi or balls out grit. The combination of the two is just how I always sounded in my head, but couldn’t translate into the real world.
  15. The problem is that it’s easier to appeal to “rock” music fans from the decades up to the 80’s because by and large, “rock” music fans from that era like the same songs!! It was after this time the all of the sub genres all splintered off, now what defines “rock” is hugely different...indie is a long way from death which is a long way from grunge which is a long way from tech..... just do what I did, bin the radio off, sign up to iTunes and just ask Siri to play whatever the hell you want to listen to. Granted, you might miss the whatever the newest stuff is if you don’t keep your finger on the pulse, but it might just save your sanity!!!
  16. When I first got involved with my last band, which was a grunge band, I though it would be a dead easy gig playing some really simple but popular songs. Some of you would say the same now... I was quite quickly brought down to earth!! Not only some complex bass lines, but some awkward time signatures as well. Rob DeLeo is one of my favourite bass players of all time. Considering he plays in a “rock” band, some of his lines could quite happily sit in Motown or jazz. Hugely underrated bass player.
  17. Don’t feel dumb, I am a qualified industrial electrician and I have to stop and scratch my head a little sometimes 😂 MOST amps will run a minimum load of 4 ohms, so you can usually run 1 x 4 ohm cab or 1 x 8 ohm cab or 2 x 8 ohm cabs IF they are run in parallel (the usual 1 x cab into a single lead into one of the two sockets on the amp) there are some amps that will do 2 ohms (2 x 4 ohms cabs for example), the ampeg svt springs to mind, but they are not the norm.
  18. I took your advice and emailed them, to which I got a very apologetic response, and a quick quiz for some more information, including an address to send a replacement to. Lets see what happens next!!
  19. This is why you have to play your best at all times, you never know who is watching lol. It can be downright soul destroying at times!!
  20. Hahaha!! The thought did occur!!! The other set was perfect though!
  21. Hi everyone, I had to do a last minute restring to one of my basses before tonight’s gig, and I feel like I need to have a moan. A couple of months back I ordered some Ernie Ball cobalt flats from a US based website, and had a friend in California ship them over to me (this site had a crazy deal on), but in putting the strings on, I found this issue. As you can see from the pics, the G String (😂) has what appears to be rust/corrosion on the surface of the string in sections, while all the other strings are fine. This is the second set I bought, the first were fine. Seems really strange that only one string is showing signs of this, and as the strings are in plastic, I can only assume it left the factory this way?? i know it may only look small, but these are not cheap strings, and I suspect this string will go dead rather rapidly due to this VERY frustrating
