Hey everyone! FINALLY I have some pics to upload, it is still a mile away from being finished, but I am in at least. I had my first trial session and the results were ok but not great. It was late at night, so the house was silent except for me, she couldn't hear the music, but could hear my bass. So I will try and decouple the amp via some concrete bricks, ply and thick foam. I was hoping that I could have isolated a lot more of the noise coming in also, but perhaps I was expecting too much. When we carpet the spare room upstairs, it will help (currently bare floor boards), and as I continue to fill my room, hopefully it will absorb some of the noise. While I'm not 100% happy, it is better than if I had just sheeted it in normal board, I am co Disney if that much. But at least I have my own space where I can shut out the world and play!!

Well, life has done a fantastic job of slowing this project up!!! the good news is it is almost done. I will start moving furniture in tomorrow all things being equal, once I have it set up I’ll take some photos and update!!

I’ve been interested in these for a while now. I haven’t been gigging much this year, so have been dragging my current strings out as long as possible.... this weekends gig proved it a Bridge too far ? just dropped the hammer on a set of cobalt flats to go on my sr5 hs, hoping the series pickups will help keep it lively. I got a set of regular slinky 5’s for the sr5 H so I should be able to a/b with the H is series mode and see what the difference is!

Hey everyone, sorry for the extended delay!! Finishing off the extension, issues with central heating and family in hospital have slowed up progress, but things are moving along now!! I'll update some photos during the week, so you can see, but things are progressing nicely. Two things to note, 1. Rockwool is itchy stuff!! Make sure you have the correct ppe for this! 2. Soundboard is BLOODY heavy!!! I'm ok as my room is small, but if you were contemplating doing a larger room, you would definitely need a buddy to help. Even getting the sheet into the garage was a ballache, at 36kg per sheet, the option of holding them overhead and screwing them up as full sheets is not doable!! I cut them down the middle to make it easier!

Taste is very personal. I had an obp-3 in my Spector Euro which was promptly replaced with a tone pump. The Aguilar pre's, to my ears at least, are much the same as their amps... VERY transparent. If that's what you are after then they are amazing. I bought the above Spector euro for that classic Spector growl, which had been tamed with the aggy pre so it just sounded like any other active bass. Some may say that is a good thing!! 😂

Ok, looks like it the same as the sterling up until 2008, it must have been around the time they switched the sr5 pickups to alnico that they switch the wiring to parallel. Sorry for the thread hijack to the OP!!! So after all that, if you want the sterling sound but can't get a sterling 5, get an sr5 up until 2008 😂 Now I want a post 2008 alnico pickup sr5 lol

Just posted in the ebmm forum too, hopefully someone can sort it out. It's my only bug bear with musicman, the product lines are really confusing!!!

It is however not what I have been assured of how mine is!!! 😂 Perhaps they changed the wiring on the sr5 to be parallel when they swapped back to alnico pickups? Perhaps someone more knowledgable can chime in???
