1. I'm not a huge fan of the aerodyne myself, can't quite figure why but it doesn't do much for me. You could get a mark hoppus signature bass, and then add a jazz bridge pickup, then you don't need the scratch plate. Might need to add a volume pot though. If you really wanted a jazz neck you could do a trade via these pages. There are plenty of people wanting a precision neck on a jazz bass so you shouldn't have a problem. You should e able to get this done for your budget or close to it.
2. No problem at all. I did exactly the same thing to my mike dirnt signature. To my knowledge I've not seen a slab bodies p/j with tele headstock before, so it is quite unique. At te end of the day, if you can't find what you want made by someone else, then make it yourself. As far as depreciation goes, I can't see it being a problem, I can't imagine that you are the first person who has wanted this done, therefore it should still hold its value as long as you can wait. Now GO DO IT and show us the pics 😈
3. Hey b'cers, So I am suffering a bit of GAS for a five string and wondered if I could get some advice. I really like to Warwick corvette standard 5, but I picked up a RockBass 5 today and it was a bit meh. I'm not talking about sound or build quality, just the proportions and feel didn't wow me. I am hoping someone will jump and say the warwick WILL feel far more superior but thought I'd ask the question, so id love to hear your thoughts. Cheers.
4. A "the silence is deafening" type bump

10. Syb-5 sold. Post updated
11. I heard a great one the other day. Bloke had always wanted a les Paul (can't remember the model but it was worth about 2.5k) and he started with a black les Paul copy. It took him a few years but he kept trading up and adding a little cash but got there in the end! So keep you basses looking the same and you will be fine. Or go with the have so many she can't keep up method, you might have to take some stick to get there though
12. CEB-3 sold. Original post updated
13. I have a boss oc-2 and syb-5 and odb-3 if that's of any interest?
14. Hey guys, I have a chrome jazz bridge and a chrome jazz bridge cover taken off my, you guessed it fender made in Mexico jazz bass. Not really sure what these go for but does £10 each sound fair? Also have two 250k pots ill do for a fiver??
15. Bump
16. Are you after any trades?
17. Just out of idle curiosity, what is the string spacing on this? What is the nut width, and most importantly what is the neck thickness front to back? Also this may sound like a dumb question but is it active or passive? I think spector have the battery in the rear route cavity as opposed to a battery box. Cheers
18. Where to start..... Fernandes gravity 5 deluxe Warwick streamer stage 1 Sadowsky NYC 5 Music man stingray 4 and 5 Aria proii black and gold Matamp GT200 Ampeg Svt2 pro Ampeg 810 GAS is evil.....
19. To the OP, you should always play for the enjoyment. The irony is that if you do want to get paid, you need to be good. That take lots of HARD work and practice, which can some times be a bit of a chore. The band I am currently in was started just to do something "fun" but the fun part will be playing it live, so it a bit laborious at the moment. I don't see a problem with the two quotes you put up, neither one mentions money (although it could be inferred), but they both said thu want to play live. I can relate to this is a big way, I have been in 3 different bands in the last 18 months and not done a single gig yet!
20. Hey all having a bit of a pedal clear out as these are surplus to requirements at te moment. EHX Small Stone Nano in full working order, good condition but no box £30 If you are interested in pics please just ask but will try and get some up soon
21. Cheers pete, certainly cheaper than warmoth! Although I'm not sure i have the confidence to try.... 150 quid is a lot to blow if I get it wrong!!!
22. Can anyone recommend a timber supplier in the north west? Also anyone who has built a bass from scratch, could you give me a guideline on price for a swamp ash/maple jazz 5 string??
23.
There is nothing like playing a bass you made yourself ! Its not a cheap way of getting a bass though, just the hardware alone can match the price of a good 2nd hand bass.
That's what I'm beginning to realise. I think the best way is buy second hand bits but that means waiting until they come up. Pimping a squier is no good as I want a rear routed setup.
