Ampeg SVT 810 AV bass cabinet- bought new last June

Yeah I'd agree on the build quality, it's pretty ordinary. It's such a shame as most of the electronics are Ex soviet military grade from what I understand and they do sound amazing. Just had a quick look, the solder looks ok at first glance. Ill try it again at rehearsal tonight and see if I can isolate the problem

Thanks for the responses guys, ill open it up when I get home and see what the caper is and get back to you

Having trouble with my big muff at the minute, I'm not getting any output, then if I press Down on the volume knob it intermittently works. Has anyone else had this? Is it just a dry solder joint?

It's funny you posted this, I'm looking at trading up to an ad200 from a terror bass. I have the tb1000 and I'm really happy with it. For the extra £100 odd you will spend on a tb1000 over a tb500 you will appreciate the extra headroom. I'm not entirely sure my search will Be worth it or just the cudos of having an all valve head... I run mine through a matamp 610 and I've not used it live, but in the rehearsal room it stands tall and cuts through the band really REALLY well -

Did a youtube search on the ad, found a shoot out between it and my current amp the terrorbass. Now I am gassing after one of these!

Hey guys n gals, considering parting ways with this beast of a unit. This is an original Tel Ray Morley power wah boost as used by the legendary cliff burton. Has three functions, can be used as a volume pedal, standard wah, boost or micro amp which is great for those lead parts/solo's and combine the two for a huge sweeping wah! If you ever wanted to get that sound of anaesthesia or for whom the bell tolls, THIS is the pedal! It's is good condition for its age with minimal pitting in the chrome work, yes this is one of the chrome played sheet metal models. It's a 110v version but ill throw in little power pack transformer. Only selling as I'm not really using it much these days and I'm sure someone can put it to better use Would consider a trade for a sansamp bass driver, pedal board, quality effect power supply, jim dunlop 105q cry baby or possibly a mark bass super synth with cash adjustment. Let me know what you got! http://m1282.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/damoj2/image_zpsbb2ea370.jpg.html http://m1282.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/damoj2/image_zps8686a17a.jpg.html http://m1282.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/damoj2/image_zps8b382d91.jpg.html http://m1282.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/damoj2/image_zps53a1f484.jpg.html

It's all about cost mr foxen, a decent neck could set me back over a hundred quid, the reshape will be less than half that!

I've just realised that the ampegs won't run at 8 ohms, which my cab is. It would involve changing my cab too 😳 does the ad200 run at 8? If I had to pick an example clean tone it would be like the intro to my friend of misery by metallica, dirty sound would be similar audioslave. I know both of these are svt 2 pro, so maybe that should tell me something!

I need a custom neck plate - where would I get one?

Goof luck, show us some pics when you get it done! -
It's all starting to happen, picked up my jazz quarter pounder on the weekend, and just ordered the spb-3 precision quarter pounder. Also got a 500k stacked vol/vol pot and chrome knobs so should look pretty sweet! Once the gear arrives its off to the chop shop 😉
-
The trouble is, I've never actually heard one! Not a very common piece of gear to come by

I can vouch for their quality, I have a matamp 610 which I run my Orange tb1000 through. I do like the sound, but it just lacks something I cant quite put my finger on! Ill have to carry on gassing for a gt200!
-
I appreciate there is a big difference in quality and build between the two. I am more after a tone comparison. I have heard if them referred to as having a very "British" sound. Being an Aussie new to the uk I really have NO clue what that sounds like....

Ray was an amazing musician, and a part of one the greatest and most unique sounding bands of all time. It is a sad day 😔 and a great loss. For such an acplished musician and rock star, he always just seemed so humble whenever I saw him interviewed... RIP Mr Manzerek

Hey guys n gals just after your opinion on the above question. I really did the ampeg svt 2 pro sound and just wondered how it co Pares to the matamp gt200?

If you took a standard neck plate to any sheet metal fabricator who has a laser/plasma/water jet cutting machine this should be very easily achieved. Just show them the original and explain what you want different. If you got them made from mild steel you could then either powder coat or chrome plate it accordingly. You could probably get it cut from a sheet of stainless too. You may need to get a nominal number of them made to over the cost to the shop for drawing and programming, but I couldn't see it being ridiculous. You could then sell on the remaining plates as I'm sure you are not the only person to come across this. A couple of words of caution, be carefull how long you make the extension, in terms of balance small increases in arm length can have a significant impact. Also it may be worth extending the plate the other way and fixing an additional screw or two in to the body so the neck joint isn't bearing the brunt of supporting the bass while stood up, but maybe that's just me? -
"What do you play?" "I used to play football at school" "I mean what instrument" "I don't, I just saw everyone else lining up and I thought you were selling drugs!" Classic film!

A couple of weeks ago I was quite dejected about the lack of quality bass gear available to try in music shops. Someone suggested I get in touch with Drew at the Manchester Bass Lounge, which I had never heard of before. I will warn you now, if you have cash, and quite possibly even if you don't there is a VERY high chance you will walk out with something!!!! He has an amazing range of quality gear, and Drew is very helpful, and patient. I was quite overwhelmed with the choice, I thought I knew what I wanted but it certainly helped to have a try of some great basses and get a feel for them. Anyone who is in the market for a new bass, drop him a line, or check out his website manchesterbasslounge.com he is a top bloke offering a great service! Thanks Drew!
