Feeler here for selling my lovely Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, it comes fitted with a Hipshot D tuner and has a black scratchplate, I really am in no rush to sell this as I used to own 4 of these when touring a few years back and this is the last one I have which is the best by a mile, the action is low and the condition is very good, except for the small ding on the bottom side which I cannot fathom out how that happened. Anyway I am looking for £550 + postage, will ship in a hard case. or if on the slight chance you have a Barefaced T'Midget I will swap with cash
Interested in the ibanez synth, how is it? True bypass? Is the autowah capable of stuff like RHCP's '21st Century'? Cheers.
2 years old, don't think it is true bypass, it has enough wacky sounds to create most stuff, the best thing is it tracks really well in synth mode unlike the boss equivalents.

Totally non-scientific Barefaced Compact video clips

I think that Jazz with Flats has such a lovely warm deep tone, I was expecting them to be on the Precision instead, good work. -

Just to end this thread I bought a Roland Cube RX, I must admit it is such an excellent bedroom amp, shocked how nice it sounds and that makes me have a few hundred pounds left in my pocket which no doubt will be heading towards Mr Clabber.
okay yes, brilliant no, but that could be just my experience the Compact.
Hmm could be back to the drawing board then.... not sure if 175 watts GB 3.0 through a compact would work that well, think it needs to be pushed. I do however have an MB LMK but then I am not sure how well the 8" GB cab would be with the MB head and Compact cab.
at 4 ohms it really does open up. the 8 is just soooooooooooooooo tiny. its is only a 300 watt amp but within its limits i don't think it can be beaten. Thinking about it i used the 10 with a compact which is a 15 and it was fine. Do it, do it, do it, do it
haha well looks like I might well be joining you if I shift a couple of basses... the BF compact is exactly what I wanted to pair it with too, did it sound ok then?
i used the 10 with a 12 under it and it was fine. If you can try it before you buy but i don't see why it wouldn't work. The 3.0 at 4 ohms really is a different animal
so with the full 4ohm load it really opens up then, just checking the cab ratings 8" 175w 95db and the 10" 2002 97db just as if adding a 15" I would want a near match, hmmm now to do the maths.
I'd suggest a used GK Microbass combo - they really are small and pretty light and can gig very well (with DI). Can't really go wrong with one?
I had one for a few years, still a tad too heavy to lug in the bag, even though it sounded nice.
i remeber the GB guys on TB saying if size is THE most important factor go for the 8 if not go for the 10. There are both awesome and cute in a bite your hand of type of way!!
I am warming to these alot, what I am thinking though is adding a 1x15 cab for med size gigs wonder how the 8 would sound with a 15? as it would be nice to push a few highs out ove the 15" cab.
i have the Shuttle 3.0-10T combo and it is great as a preactice amp but it does sooooooooooooo much more as well
Yeah I am really tempted by these, as I like the option of adding another cab if needed for a small gig... trouble is the 8 and the 10 are roughly the same price but the size is quite a bit different and think the 10 maybe hard to stick in a back pack because of this.
-
Thanks guys but aren't the models you mentioned practice amps not tiny amps, I want something around 5kg has something no bigger than 30cm cubed to fit in a back pack.
-
Hi, I need a tiny practice amp, has to be around 5kg, be good quality and have a fairly small footprint as I will be carrying it in a backpack. My options are: Roland Bass Cube RX - Cheap but not sure if it will be loud or good enough Markbass Micromark - Love this size and Markbass tone but expensive Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8T - Will have the best sound and be able to use the head with other cabs but again expensive. I like all of the above but cannot decide, has to be able to play with one guitar with pedals.

Hmm this has got me thinking, does anyone here use Flatwounds on a Status graphite neck? if so does it take away the clankiness that the roundwounds bring? or would halfwounds be better to give a little bit more clarity?
Its a mexican standard Fender Jazz though, am I missing something?
me too, I couldn't shift my Mex Jazz in same colour with Badass and Dimarzio pups for £200

Just bought the same case this weekend and I have the same problem, also do you find if you keep the pedalboard in the case the lip is high at the front and you accidently kick it, I want to remove them rubber feet on the bottom if possible.
Hmm! Tough question! For moving about, the Tecamp M212! Very light. Very very loud and can produce a brilliant tone. For pure volume and clarity in a small 4x10 package, the HS410. Its gives you everythig you play...very very precise. For old school fat warm bass with a classic/vintage tone, the Orange cabs. Perfect for a Precision/Jazz. Crank the gain and its perfect for heavy music/punk. For a combination of vintage/dirty rock n roll with clarity and lots of artiulation, the Aguilar 212s. They also look very cool. Actually, so do the Orange cabs. Hmmm...I have too many....and I cant think which I'd want to sell...arghghg! Hope this helps!
Thanks for that, gives me a little insight to why you have the different combinations, helps.... erm no, now I really am scratching my head on what I really should be looking for, always fancied a lightweight 4x10 for that loud punchiness and then I also fancy a 15 with a 12 for a deeper tone, I can see why you have these different cabs now
I just wasn't into 15s until I bought my Orange. I really couldn't get on with others I tried. This cab suprised me....a lot.
Just seen your list of cabs you have wow... which is your favourite and why?
One man's dull is another man's warm and fat. I'd also highlight that although no 15" will do anything useful past 4kHz, and many cheap 15"s have output to that treble region, the weak point with common or garden 15"s is a lack of output in the upper midrange combined with too spikey a sound (everything happening around a narrow break-up peak) in the treble. Don't group all tens into one sound, twelves into another and fifteens into another. As JTUK has said, the GS112s are pretty short of midrange and treble (with the tweeter off) compared to at least one fifteen I'm familiar with. Alex
Thanks Alex, I had a pair of GS112's before my Schroeder, the sound to me was very warm almost a dullish sound but to my ears was good tone, but with 2 guitars didn't push through that well. I just want to be able to add a bit more depth to what I have already got but if I have to replace my cab for a something with a 15" speaker I don't want to lose that midrange bump which the schroeder pushes out nicely. I do like what you are doing with your cabs, they seem interesting, the big one seems nice.

Just starting up another band, thought I had finished but the bug hit again, had my 2nd practice and all is going well, the only thing that I would like to change is maybe my cab (maybe). I am using a Schroeder 1212L with a MarkBass LMK which in my last band was amazing, still baffles me how much output I can get from this little box, but the new group has a guitarist with a completely different sound. In the practice room I unplugged my Schroeder and tried a 1x15 Ashdown cab to see what the bottom end would be like and I wished I hadn't as I really got used to hitting that low B and getting the thud in your chest feeling, but it was useless at the higher registries and therefore I feel looking for a single 15" cab would be no use. What it boils down to is I would love to have that 15" feeling again accompanied with the 1212L for everything else but can't fathom out what I should look for, either buying a 1212L 8ohm cab and a single 15" 8ohm cab. A single cab is the preferred option but I cant see anything that would be a full sounding without a mixture of a 15" and 10" or 12" in a single cab weighing peanuts... does anyone have ideas? Thanks Ash
