1. Removed most of the unneeded wood and drilled the holes for the tuners.
2. Glued on the fingerboard and sawed of the excess wood at the sides (flush with the rough neck). Milled the fingerboard to headstock transition, also made the groove for the nut.
3. Finished off the groove ends. Decided to go for a little bit different approach from my previous builds, the groove ends on this neck will have no covers.
4. Finally made some time to do something on this one again. Routed level the neck and routed the truss rod grooves. The headstock end of these grooves will be finished further on the milling machine at work.
5. Marleaux Diva?
6. New toy, a BaCH BPB-60 butterscotch. Custom-order, started out as a bit of a 'lack of lefty offers' jest on a Dutch bass guitar forum, the Dutch importer took up on it and did some asking around with BaCH, this bass is the end result. A big thanks to Rob at NumberOneGuitars.
7. My engineering instinct and training tells me it's optimum when the zero fret has the same height as the other frets. Whatever the fanboy experts and some luthiers say contrary to that is wrong.
8.
I take my hat off to you mate you are one clever f***er wish I had the skill and talent you obviously do
Skills is matter of training and trail and error, talent is a result of these two combined.
9. mk4-4++ Finally done something on this one again. Prepared and glued the headstock scarf joint.
10. If you like BEM, here is it's little twin. The top comes from the same slab of wood.
11. English is not my native language, these are the kind of subtleties I miss out on sometimes.
12. You must keep in mind that the fret ends are unfinished and there is only a sealer coat on it, you need to finish the neck yourself. You also need to enlarge to holes for the tuner bushings and make the holes to mount the neck. It's only a basic neck that needs some work before you can use it.
13.
A simple and basic Tribute L-2000... but it's mine. You get a lot of bass for a very nice price. Good affordable lefty basses are rare, but this is one of them.
And now with a full maple neck on it, the necks on sale at the G&L web store.
14. The rest are two acoustic basses, a four string and a five string, they are standing in my living room. And then there is an old double bass thing that stands in the way somewhere in a corner in another part of my living room. .... Or do you mean the empty spaces? That's a work in progress and will be filled in due time.
15. Applied furniture oil to the fingerboard. Mounted the tuners and put on the final layer of Danish oil. Volute mk.2. The neck profile is asymmetrical now and has a flatter shape, removed 3 millimeters from the neck thickness.
16. Once again, no progress on the mk4-4++. Yesterday evening I got the urge to modify the neck of my mk2-7. This was the first bass I made, over four years ago, after a break of about 15 years from the one I made before that. Meanwhile I've already made eleven new ones since I build this one. The neck profile, thickness and volute were not up to my current standards of building... time to do something about that!
17. Outstanding amp housing build, the end-result looks great. Very nice design and top-notch fabricating skills.
18. Just for fun... A up to-date picture of my complete electric herd.
19. Finished the G&L modification. With I bit of luck and some good will the new build will continue the coming weeks.
20.
New toy! A lot of bass for a very nice price.
And now with a full maple neck.
