Yes we are an originals band, and I supplied the Sound guys with a Tech rider with stage plan and all that jazz, with our equipment that we are bringing fully detailed hmmmmm I like the stickers Idea, I have cards and EP's to dish out with all the details on it. Plectrums is also a good idea, non muso's think its cool to have one in their pocket/wallet. A Hat as well! I didn't think about that. I better get one.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I checked out the back line and the bass amp they have for the stage we are on isn't too great so I will be taking the orange rig. Looking forward to it and will get some photos for posting!

So my band are playing our first big(ish) festival this weekend. ForeverSun in Dorchester, Dorset. We don't have the best slot, Sunday at 14:00, but its our first proper festi so we are all pretty excited. There are some pretty big named bands on the bill. Happy Mondays, Buzzcocks, TopLoader, Dub Pistols.... http://www.foreversun.co.uk/ Anyone ever played it before? or anyone also playing? Or any festival tips for a first time player long time festival go-er?

Just shy of 5 minutes is what it takes me and my drummer to set up his kit. That's if we are in a rush. A full DW Custom with the Large Bass drum. He stands on the stage, I pass each piece of equipment to him in the right order, he sets it up. Sometimes he will have a few adjustments during the sound check. We have it down to a fine art. If he's on his own, it will be about 15 minutes.

I have found that I do mostly get an email notification of a private message. But there are times when I don't. Also sometimes when I have had a new private message, or a reply from a PM from someone then it does not show at the top of the BassChat window. As in I don't get the little red 1 at the top. But when I drill down to the messages then it shows in Bold text as a new message.

Is last night's audience of one a record?
DogHammer replied to leschirons's topic in General Discussion
Played to a few empty rooms/bars/pubs. Its pretty disheartening. We wont play a gig if a world cup game is planned to be on. Its hard enough as an originals outfit trying to get people to come to your gigs let alone when the kickball is in the way. -
You have been playing bass for 30 years? Gigging, receiving praise for your musical creations and bringing joy to others with your playing while they watch from the crowd or listen through their CD/digital player. All for 30 years so far. Your bass has always been there for you. You can see it. You can touch it. Its definitely there and always will be. It may change form when you buy a new one or modify it, but its still your bass and wont ask you for a thing, but will give you everything. So your Bass lets you bring happiness to people, happiness to yourself. Have faith in your bass my friend, because that bolted together piece of wood is your God. Its definitely mine.

I regularly exercise (Cycling, MTB) and regard myself as reasonably fit.... But after a good hour or so of dancing around like a loon on stage with my bass, and drinking a fair amount I must admit I do get the 'Next Day' exhaustion. The drink probably doesn't help, but still.....

So we have recently released our first EP. Was our first experience into proper recording. We have done a bit of live recording at a studio before but never individually tracked parts. I think it came out OK. I had an issue with my parts afterwards during the mixing. The bass I used didn't track as well as I expected. Seemed to come through a bit muted. Safe to say I will be using something else for the album. Its only 3 tracks, 2 of which can be listened to on our soundcloud here: http://soundcloud.com/fracture-oxford also can be bought on iTunes and Google play if you search for 'Fracture - No Control' Anyone who has a listen I would be grateful for some feedback

Optima golds were the only strings I bought for a few years. Loved them on my MIM Jazz and also the US Jazz. I still wouldn't have any other string on the Jazz just because they sound and play really good to me. But..... I stuck some on the Corvette, and it has absolutely killed it. Sounds terrible, and for some reason I cant get a good setup on the bass with them. Only thing that sounds good on the Warwick to me is Warwick EMPs.

On further investigation it looks like onE of the pre-amp valves is blown. That will be why its not working then...

Alright, so if im using a 2 pole speakon cable from the Amp to the Cab, then it should be fine? The back of the cab says only use the connections wired in parrallel?
-
Ok, I may sound like a bit of a noob here but here it goes... I have today received my first ever Amp and Cab seperates. I have always been a combo man, but bigger gigs are making me want to go a bit bigger and louder. Anyway, my issue is I have an Orange TB500H amp, with an Orange OCB410 Cab, and they both have 2 Speakon connections on the back. Do I use 2 speakon cables to run this cabinet? or will 1 speakon cable do it? I have plugged in a single speakon cable and nothing comes out of it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear this up for me!

Why so much buying and selling of basses?
DogHammer replied to jakenewmanbass's topic in General Discussion
I can imagine that some are searching for 'the one", and having some great pleasure along the way. The used market is flooded at the moment, and as one BC member noted earlier, you can buy and sell, and the sums lost in a transaction can be counted as little more than a "rental" fee.
Definitely a +1 to this. Another factor for me is that I just love a new bass! Buying a new bass seems to spur me on sometimes and gives me loads of happiness. Though when I buy a new bass I usually think to myself "Maybe this is the one......" then it turns out it isn't when I buy something shiny and new/old. -
Afraid not. if I had another Fender Jazz I'd probably go back to a Deluxe model. Still like to try a Sandberg VM4.
No probs. The Jazz is upgraded with a J-Retro and different bridge if that makes a difference. Ha, I would also like to try a Sandberg VM4! Hard to get hold of one for a trial in lefty though.
