1. Definitely not interested in trades? I have a 2011 US Fender Jazz std that I am going to throw up on the forum soon.
2. I need to make a bit of cash for the 'Status' fund so I'm having a pedal clear out of the ones I haven't used in a while. [s]Not all the ones in the picture are for sale, since I took the picture last night, I decided to keep the Dunlop CryBaby and the MXR.[/s] OK now I have decided to let it all go. So added the other 2 on the list aswell. Pedals (from left to right): Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive [s]£40[/s] £30 - Classic pedal. Great Condition, has velcro on the bottom but I can get rid of that if required. No Box. Dunlop CryBaby Bass Wah [s]£75[/s] £60 Bass Wah. Great pedal but dont really use it in the current band. No Box. [s]MXR Bass Overdrive £70 - Brand new with Box gigged once. Brought it in New York when I was in a music store trying out a load of gear. Don't really need it as I use a SoundBlox Multiwave Distortion to do that kind of work now.[/s] [s]Behringer Vintage Bass VB-1 £10 - Its a Behringer. Its cheap, but it does the job of what it tries to do. Plus its a bargain for a tenner.[/s] [s]Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus £30 - Does what it says on the tin. Great Condition.[/s] PM me for delivery costs on top of this. Or if you want to pickup/meet I am in the Oxford area.
3. So my bass 'estate' has grown a bit over the past few years. I always used to be a 1 bass man and it hadn't even occurred to me that I would ever need more than one. I have a Warwick NT Corvette that I loved when I bought it, and did so for about a year. Then I went and bought myself a MIM Jazz from the for sale section here, threw in a J-Retro and some new pick ups to use it as a 'backup'. I liked it so much that it turned into my main gigging bass. The Warwick sat around for a year not being played at all, and I thought maybe I just prefer a Fender Jazz. So I went and bought myself a US std, also from the for sale section. Didn't really like the way it played, even though it wasn't much different to the MIM. I persevered, threw in another J-Retro, changed the bridge and it was a hell of a lot better and became my main gigging bass. I didn't pick up the MIM for a while, but then went back to it when I left the US over at my singers house. Annoyingly I liked it better than the US. It became my main gigging bass again.... I picked up the Warwick and took it for a gig on Saturday. We got on like a house on fire, like we had never parted. Sounded fantastic, played fast and fun. So I'm in a BASS CRISIS. Anyone had a similar crisis? and how do I get through it? or will this always happen to me and I am doomed to GAS, and buy basses on the forums forever?
4.
The drummer will dissapear just before you go on. This is anavoidable. Don't panic, just go find him.
Yes this. What is it about drummers? and why do I always have to go find the drummer, or shout out that we are down a drummer through the mike!
5. This isnt a great picture, but the only one I could find of my recent Jazz.... Too much gold? ha. Optima Gold Strings, Custom Gold/Black J-Retro, Gold Schaller Bridge and Gold scratch plate
6. I signed up for a month. Thought I would give it a whirl. Found it was just a big contacts book really, for gig venues and festival slots. Most of it you can find on the internet anyway. Read a lot of the articles on there too, but wasn't enough to keep me paying for it. Maybe give it a try for one month, then cancel it if its not for you?
7. Hi HMX, Yeah my band is Fracture. Rock/Indie outfit. The gig was at the Jericho Tavern. We are up the Art bar tomorrow night, Cellar on the 15th of March, O2 Academy on the 18th of April. What about you? you in a band in Oxford? Luckily my Lead guitarist has the exact same MarkBass Combo so I have a temp!
8. Since I posted this, I had a headline gig a few weeks ago, where I allowed the use of my MarkBass 151P Combo for a band before us. When I went on to play, the levels were all over the place, mids right up, highs right up, Gain ramped up above the volume. I reset back to my preferred settings, and during our last song the amp cut out. Turned it off and on again and it was fine. Next band practice and its cutting out constantly. Its now with an amp tech for repair. I will never ever be lending out equipment again! Will teach me for being generous and hospitable.
9. Bump for Price drop. Also will get the recent pictures up this weekend.
10. SOLD [s]Price now: £1100[/s] EDIT: Now added recent pictures finally! Heavy gigging and practice schedule means its taken me 9 months.... Finally convinced myself to put the Warwick up for sale. Bought this bass around 3 years ago now. But it has been sat hardly played for nearly a year, having 3 other basses. The pictures below are actually a bit old but will get some new ones up later on. Still looks exactly the same as it has been well looked after, regularly waxed. Comes with the Original flightcase, manual, tools, care kit. Sad to see it go but I'm really GASing for a Status and need to fund it somehow. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:112190] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:112191] I am based in Oxford if anyone wants to come and try it out. I am available to meet anyone half way for delivery pick up. Also I will consider trades as I'm a sucker for a new bass.
11. Originals band, but the way we do it is one person has 'Control' of the order we are going to play the songs in. Usually me or the singer, but then the songs are still tailored to the audience reaction at the time. Guitarists saying 'Wait I need to tune' is the thing that bothers me most though. Im no guitarist but unless you knock those pegs, need to downtune or there's something wrong with your instrument you shouldn't need to tune for a 40 minute set?
12. Excellent, Thanks for the Info Roland!
13. We have been given a headliner at the Dublin Castle in Camden for the 4th of December, next Wednesday. I have never actually been to the Dublin Castle, and this will only be our second gig in London, so looking forward to it. Anyone ever gigged in there? I read up a few reviews it looks to be a popular venue,
14. At a Mini-festival type thing, my Singer/Guitarist just as we are going on stage said to me: "f*** me I have had 15 pints, I feel hammered" He didn't remember going on stage, doing the gig or coming off. He sung remarkably well considering.
15. Bump - Still for sale. Will consider trades as well.
16. I have a Boss Chorus in the For sale section for 45 squid including delivery. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220396-fsft-boss-ceb-3-bass-chorus/
17.
Certainly a looker :-)
I agree, just looking at it makes me want to delve into 5 string territory...
18. I put some SJB-3 Quarter Pounders in my Mex Jazz and it really helped with a thicker sound. Then threw in a J-Retro 01 and now its a completely different bass.
19. Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus for sale. Great condition, but no box or instruction manual. Will take a photo or 2 later. EDIT: That's 45 including delivery, as I didn't state before. And its one of these: http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=152
20. We will be headlining at the Wheatsheaf in Oxford city centre on the 29th of November. Also supporting us are: The Omnivibes Mr Tom Damian Franklin If your around in Oxford come have a listen. Will be our first time playing there and the sound is always good when I have seen other bands.
21. I agree. I always used to be a bit fearful, but in the last few years I have dove right in and had much success in setups, resulting in lower action and more playability of most of my instruments. But there are some that just cannot be saved...
22.
Just got my lefty custom-made faux brushed-gold jazz bass pickguard delivered. Made by the Bass Doc and it is excellent.
Hey, that plate is absolutely lovely..... One of those would go lovely on my US STD. How much did that cost from the bass doc per chance?
23. Trade for a Boss CEB-3 Chorus?
24. Would you be interested in a trade with a Warwick Corvette $$ NT 4 string?
25. Improving our stagecraft is the current 'Hot Topic' for my band at the moment. We realised that apart from a bit of foot tapping and shoulder movement, we stood pretty stonefaced. So what we did to start it off was get really really drunk at a festival gig, bring a smoke machine and laser lights, and dance about and have a laugh on stage. Since we go the 'Dance Nerves' out the way we work on moving about and jumping and stuff to different parts of different songs in the practice room. It has seemed to help alot!
