Thanks man! Bump.

I guess weight will be the biggest issue, but if you're already playing a P-bass then perhaps it won't be so much.
As others have said, the Squier's are the ones to be looking out for. The lightest bass in that price range is probably going to be an Ibanez SR. Or if you can find one, a Yamaha BB will always stump the competition for the silly prices they seem to be going for. -
Bump. Discount on more than one purchase.
-
I'd be more concerned about the quality of the photo than the amount, although I agree that sifting through 10+ photos of the same bass is a little bit tiring.
But what annoys me more generally tends to be the quality of the photos. Learn to use a camera! -

I'm due to place an order for these from Thomann in the next couple of days. I'll let everyone know how I get on.
-
I also had a bit of an iffy experience there, and now use other retailers for all my purchases where possible.
Count yourself lucky that you didn't go in! Try attending the London Bass Guitar Show with no cash, where people are actually asking you if you want to try gear. It's torture in every sense of the word... -
They are indeed the black coated ones!
Bump. -
A picture like that shows me what colour it is and that's about it!
Seriously though, I'm not a stickler for quality photography, but the more pictures the better in my opinion. However, quality over quantity every day!
Unless you're selling a Fender. Then at least we know they're all the same really... Just kidding. -
They are indeed fantastic strings. And I've been reliably informed that they're now Stainless Steel, and not the Nickel they were originally (which is why a lot of people didn't like them).
-
That looks too cool to be a first bass! Congratulations.
As the above post points out, www.scottsbasslessons.com is one of the best resources out there for getting that right hand technique down. -
Peep Show - Sikth. What a mega-brilliant modern metal tune!
-
Pretty simple stuff. Got a few packs of these, unopened, that I need to shift. £16 or 2 packs for £29 with free delivery to mainland UK.
Great set of stainless steel coated (in black!) strings, and rather cool looking too! I just don't have a bass to put them on.
If you have an Ditto Looper pedal or any of Stuart Clayton's books as trade bait then let me know!
Payment by Paypal or Bank Transfer.

Hippo VBs. They're pretty fantastic for what I need them for.
-
It is a lovely bass. Great burl top and back and the matching covers are the icing on the cake.
-
These probably signify the end of the TRB range, which means no more 6-string basses from Yamaha if I'm thinking straight... Apart from the Patitucci sig'.
-
People tend to forget that there are a lot of teachers who purposely have more than one bass so that they are prepared for a whole range of students and their preferences.
I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable with just one bass for gigging though, or perhaps I'm waiting for the right one to come along, but it all depends on if you're doing covers or originals or dep' work and if you feel you want the versatility of switching between various sounds.
There are collector's too who like the look and feel of a various number of basses and want to own them all, and I certainly can't blame them. -
I've just started my build with Alpher Instruments, it's extremely exciting isn't it?
I opted for the John East simply based on two things. The first being that it is an extremely good preamp and is very versatile. The second being that nothing is permanent! It can take more than just a few minutes to decide that you prefer a certain preamp, so I was happy with it knowing that if I really had experience with another preamp that I preferred, I could switch it. I have no doubt though that it will do what I want it to do.
I opted for two humbuckers because I prefer humbuckers! It's as simple as that. Wizard pickups are rather sought after and quite rare on the second-hand market, that's all I know about them, but it speaks volumes to me! -

I always wanted a BassChat logo'd polo shirt with 'STAFF' on the back, like the kinda thing you see at venues.
Following the London Bass Guitar show earlier, wearing my Bsschat polo and now donning my free lanyard with 'Jellyfish' written on it. I then travelled to Westfield (to let the girlfriend do some shopping as payment for putting up with me playing all kins of basses!) We then went to Nandos for lunch and the lady behind the till took one look at me and asked 'Are you working in Westfield today?' and apparently if you work there you get a pretty nice discount!
Anyway, back on topic... I don't mind wearing tshirts related o bass, but none of those corny tag lines. Something discreet and tasteful, much like all of the tshirts on the Basschat shop. -
I feel like the scratch plate is a bit too 'stylish' for a bass that is designed after something that's rather old.
-
Cheers man, we're both equally excited about how the final product is going to look. They pick out some absolutely stunning pieces of wood that I've never seen anything like before!
Not much excitement to add yet, but I've kindly been sent (taunted with) a picture of the 2-band John East preamp.

That's a shame. My single transaction with them went flawlessly. I ordered a custom length strap and it came within 7 days. Dead impressed!
