I do so desperately want a Precision bass, and have done for a while. However, as a 5 string player, I fear that I just wouldn't be able to get on with one in the long term, even a 5 string one as I am used to narrow string spacing. Glad you're liking yours though.
I can't see any reason for downloading in order to check out a band. These days there are plenty of sources where you can legally stream music, that will give you a good enough idea whether or not the music is worth buying.
From my experience, this isn't the case unfortunately. For older songs and bands it's fine, but currently releases (especially from more obscure bands) and new bands I've found never really make much of an appearance until well after various release dates, at least for the type of music I listen to.

Guitar stolen from Badlands Guitars Brighton
Jellyfish replied to WalMan's topic in General Discussion
Just started working in a music shop and in the space of 3 days I've heard or read about three similar stories. Luckily we're small enough and in such a confined area of the high street that this would almost never happen (think Bass Direct if you've ever had the pleasure of going there). Good luck to them though. -
It's up to the person unfortunately. Campaigns like this (it's just a picture, I know) will probably never reach out to anyone enough to make them change their mind. I openly admit to downloading music illegally if I've never heard it before. Anything that I like I then buy a copy of either through iTunes or the web. Anything I don't like gets deleted after the first or second listen. I don't claim to know the music industry inside out, not the opinions of the professionals upon which the music industry is based, but I don't see why this way isn't acceptable. Of course, if you're downloading a song for the sole purpose of learning it in a band situation then you would hopefully be arming something from performing it live so I'd feel better (personally) if I had paid for it. Then again, if the song wasn't my choice and I didnt want to buy it, I'd ask someone else to source it for me. People like you are hardly the problem though, I know plenty of people's song libraries that are completely illegal.

I did grade 1 about 3 years ago now and it was extremely easy. I felt that I'd effectively learnt how to tackle the sight-reading part just by practicing new pieces on a regular basis. As far as I remember, it was about 8 bars and it two bars looked similar but one note varied in pitch which I guess was their way of trying to catching you out. Bass, tenor, and treble clefs though? Even for grade 8, that just sounds cruel.

Received mine yesterday and wow, what a lovely strap. Feels unbreakable and although I'm used to a 4" width, the near 3" width feels perfect with my 5 string (and fairly lightweight) Ibanez. The reduced length was the main reason for the purchase though and I couldn't be happier. It also looks wicked.

Am I a musician, or do I just have a good memory?

If you play music, you are a musician. -
I'd recommend investing in a decent audio interface/sound card so you get a decent enough signal that you can record in Logic. Other than that, any basic HD video recording suffices for You Tube videos and I assume you have some basic movie editing software where you can smack it altogether for your final product.

Since I started playing bass, I new I always wanted an Ibanez Soundgear. I'd tried only a handful of mid-range Ibanez's (the SR505 and 605) and they were a bit boring... I actually ended up buying an Ibanez BTB475 because of the wicked sound and quality B string. I later found out that that was because of the 35" scale . So when I had the funds to buy a nicer bass, I saved a bit more and looked for an Ibanez Soundgear Prestige, which was a bit of a gamble given my limited previous experience. Also, I wasn't a great player when I purchased it as it was an opportunity that came out of nowhere and I just so happened to have a bit more cash then usual (it was my birthday!). But now I'm really appreciative of how good my Ibanez SR 4005E is. The playability since getting it set up and the sound are what draws me in compared to any other equivalent basses. It really made me understand why people are willing to spend a lot of money (over £1000) on a bass because if mine ever broke, I'd definitely be willing to fork out the extra cash and buy a new one straight away.

For sale is my newly purchased (and unplayed...) Fret King Corona 'Geoff Whitehorn' Signature. The guitar feels great to me (as a non-guitarist) regarding the action and playability. I purchased it with the intention of learning guitar (and after reading great reviews on it), but it's really not for me! Since being purchased, it has sat in a stand doing nothing. I played it once for 10 minutes. The only sign of it not being new is that I've peeled the scratch-proof film off the pickups. If the scratch plate has one (hard to tell) it hasn't been touched. For more info, visit http://www.fret-king..._whitehorn.html I originally paid £499 and am looking to get £300 for it (yes, I am that desperate, no it isn't used!). Collection is from Birmingham, B23. Also included is the Fret King Padded Gigbag it came in! Stock picture because it's in the exact same condition! Or see below the picture for my own pictures.
ill give u £300 for it...
£305! But seriously, they pop up every now and again in the 'For Sale' section and seem to be going around £1350. Might be worth having a look yourself though.

Great basses. I've only tried the 5 string version and it was great, but ended up saving my pennies for a higher end SR. Only bad thing about them (and all Ibanez basses) is their resale value.

Recommendations needed for beginner bass books!

Crash Course for Bass Guitar is written by Stuart Clayton. Best book I've ever seen to be honest. -
