Seperated at birth. -
You wait... your back will be turned for one minute and... *gone*
Have you seen Transformers? They are all going to recombine and tale over the Midlands in the name of the South. Then come back home. Probably.
No, I didn't in the end. I did not want to waste his time in the end as I was still trying to decide what to go for.
I don't think it would be a waste of time, but good luck whatever you choose.
[The Compact is a] Fantastic cab, if you want a one cab solution, and having heard what you like I would recommend this or even more Alex' Big One (has a smoother mid range, and hence even more clarity) and an LH500 on top of it. That would be you sorted, for ever (OK you could put 2K through the Big One if you wanted, but you dont need too). 'Nuff said.
I recently moved from ABM to LH1000 and have never looked back. I've demo'd both the Compact & Big One with the LH1000 bridged & I found the Big One better in my bands environment [2 guits, drummer, punk/rock] as it has a great off-axis response due to the midrange driver, meaning you will hear yourself better & so will they. The head is the same weight as an ABM and the cab is 18lb lighter than me old ABM 2x10. Happy days.

2 guits, 3-piece drum kit, me, no PA - 20 minutes including soundcheck, parking the motors & first trip to the bar. Time is lager.
-
Good luck mate. Any room for Mrs Lager in your crate?
-
Have a careful look at the ABM 2x10 if you want to stack vertically, 'cos on the combo & cab I had the handles stood way proud. This would make it hard to stack 2, even with feet stuck on. Try it if you can.

Songs you play when you've just got in from the pub
johnnylager replied to far0n's topic in General Discussion
AC/DC - Back in Black, of course. Doesn't everyone? -
Or for an alternate view.....They're great.
Yep. I miss the one that was on me old Ged Jazz so much, I'm just about to get one for me Spector. Anyone got a gold M4 they don't want?
-
They're in a straight line but offset to smooth the response out front. Alex
I know a song about that.
Dunno.. but I'll ask! I expect the answer might include the word OFF! How's things btw - are you still annoying the neighbours with that 1x15 of mine? And is Mr Claber building you one of his at the moment... Saw some posts with one of his cabs recently and it looked really good!
Cushty mush, you? I would think my neighbours can now play that tricky run in the middle of Levitation no trouble and I am indeed awaiting the arrival of a Big One [steady son], so Denton can learn it too. You around Monday 6.00ish and I can drop the Demetriades back to you? +/- pint of course...
I'm off to meet Paul Herman tomorrow with Mike G at the new Wal workshop, so if anyone has any questions they'd like answers to, post them up here and I'll try to find out as much as i can...
What can he do for £50 and a crate of Stella? A big crate mind, 24 tins. Foreign silver top stuff too, none of yer UK gold top malarkey.
The gauge doesn't really matter...
Doesn't matter? Everyone knows the Wal sound changed when the UK went from imperial to metric wire gauge.
I'm also probably more likely to go for the big one rather than the compact. Do you think the heads running through the compact would be able to compete with 2 guitarists and a loud drummer at small-medium sized gigs, sometimes not di'd?
LH-1000 + Compact - yes. LH-1000 + Big One - oh yes indeed and better off-axis response meaning you will hear yourself better & so will they. See here. For what it's worth, the guitarists in me band prefer the Big One. So I've ordered one. And some ear defenders.

I have just been the recipient of the latest BGM from young James. Tidy.
-
I have recently engaged in the purchase of the curiously named Bottom Feeder from Ray and it all went swimmingly. Happy days.
-
I've used an LH-1000 into both the Barefaced Compact and Big One and find it excellent for the punk / rock that I play. My Spector drives the preamp valve [changed to a Ruby] well and there's a nice growl when I give it some. The simple tone controls do it for me. It's loud too. Very loud through the Big One. Very very loud indeed. The GK is a totally different beast - 4eq, voicing filters, bi-amp, silver bits, more lights - never used one, sorry.
Doesn't that make them poles?
Rascist.
I'm sure that ... Bernie Goodfellow ... would make for [a] fantastic interview[s]s[/s] ...
It certainly would. An audio interview would be even better.
-
To be honest, I'd rather dip my bollocks in boiling fat than buy a Behringer. I used a mates for about 15 minutes in a quiet rehearsal in his house and it blew up, scorching the wall and tripping the electrics. Machines idea is a good one.
Mind you, to me everything below Leeds is "The South".
From here, Maidstone's the North East.
How so? what if its a good the 4ohm as well?
An average 4 ohm. My bad.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Have you tried the Hartke LH's mate? I moved from an ABM EVOII to an LH1000 and it's just great. A good 8 ohm cab will cane a 4 ohm too.
