1. I'll be A/Bing a Compact and a Peavey 4x10 on Sunday. I'll let you know what happens.
2. Some interesting answers here What made you the bassist you are today? - Playing in bands since I was 14 or so [25 years] Who do you think had the biggest influences on how you play now? - [s]Steve Harris[/s] [s]Larry Boothroyd[/s] Rob Wright Where do you think you want to go from here? - Bigger gigs Why do you think you want to go there? - Because I haven't done many big-uns Do you believe you have a "personality" on the bass? - Yes - other peoples copied badly and combined in a right din Specialist question: What is it you love about that 1971 P-Bass? - The fact all my heroes - Geezer, 'Arry, Dobby, John McCoy, Bob Daisley, Jimmy Bain, Peter Baltes, Marcus Grosskopf, Rob Wright, Rob McKillop, Matt Freeman, Trevor Horn all had them. And Brian Fox. Probably. Never owned one meself though - must try harder.
3.
Respect to anyone who can play with a pick. I'm awful.
Glad to see the beret back mate.
4. The Korg Pitchblack has a few fans on here, accurate to +/- 1 cent, the TU-2 has a few too, +/- 3cents. I don't know about the Big Dot though.
5. The Body Glove jobbie is excellent - http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=9790 Talked about here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=soundslive
6.
you might want to look into hatke or something else along those lines aswell
Indeed. I can thoroughly recommend the LH series. Less [knobs] is more. If there is something you really want to try at GAK, it wouldn't do any harm to ring them the day before you go to make sure it is in the store and not just in the warehouse. They can normally get it there for the next day.
7. The bass sound on that first track is ace. +1 for a used Ampeg if that's your bag - you'd get far more for your money.
8. Excellent mate. More bass in 'Ready To Rock' please! Are you putting WPOD up?
9. I've just been experimenting with pedal order. I was going TU-2 > BassBalls > Hyperdrive > MultiComp > MicroBass II. I've now taken the TU-2 out of the chain and run it off the link on the MicroBass and it's really opened up the sound of the BassBalls and the Hyperdrive. Just saying, like.
10.
The NS design was developed and registered by Ned Steinberger around the middle of the seventies. Soon after Stuart Spector got the exclusive to use the body shape, and started making its own NS basses. Later, around 1984 Warwick was licensed dy Spector to use the NS design. Yoy can see very first Streamers has "Licensed By Spector" on the trussrod cover. A few years later, some problems emerged between Spector and Warwick, and the struggle ended in front of a Court.
Apparently. From the Warwick forum Spector all the way for me. Nice bass, nice price.
11.
I just love the symmetry and balance of a 4.
Listen to you Mr La-de-daa. Who has hijacked his profile?
12. 4 all the way for me. None of me heroes have 'em, none of me favourite bands have 'em and as Silverfoxnik will tell you - I don't have the ability for them. Nik - just 'teaching' my neighbours how to play Levitation by Hawkwind through your 1x15. It is an 1100w driver isn't it?
13. I got a branners Geddy Lee off a UK gadgey on the 'bay - well off the bay actually - and after minimal setting up it was fine.
14. I thought they were about £600 new in the UK. Plenty of Shermans to import from, but the rate is sh*te. £350 new seems good.
15. Eee-ooo - think of your finish man!
16. That's the 4th thing I want to do on the 4th of bloody April now. The babysitters 18th is looking like the best though. :brow: Good luck.
17.
Pretty much all the SBs that I've played (quite a few, I was around when they first came out) have been extremely heavy.
Yup - I had an SB Elite I for 20-odd years. I had a couple of years off the bass a few years back and sold it when I took it up again as eventually the weight & lack of forearm contour did for me. I should have just put it on the wall though.
18.
And to think that BGM slagged off the gb g spot in my basses. Twice.
Gimmick.
19. You forgot Big One x2. Muhahahaha. :brow: I've gone deaf just thinking about it. Or is that blind? Or is that for another reason?
20.
Don't listen to them, cream pick up covers are the devils work, next they will be telling you to get a tort scratch plate.
Don't listen to him, he plays a Jazz. Cream on. Nice bass.
21.
I've actually had quite a few people say how lovely my Warwicks are. Sadly, they've all been male.
Nuff said.
22. One of them core stability exercise balls and a Spector.
23.
Basic problem is, try as I might, I cannot get on with the narrow J neck (doh) whereas I absolutely lurve the neck on my white 2009 MIA Precision.
41.8mm nuts rock.
24.
I've been trying to adjust mine like that for a while now but the bridge on my Spector must hate me or something, because it's horrible to adjust. Once it's locked it stays put and works perfectly but I don't like the fact that all the saddles can move when you are adjusting one of them..... by the way, did you do it to the angle at which the headstock is angled back from the neck or the angle of the strings over the nut?
Headstock. It's all in here chaps. It took a little getting used to, but I love it now - more than a standard bridge.
