1. Here, Strings Direct or cheapest online I can find. Last shop I bought from was Bonners in Eastbourne, even despite the 'not quite as helpful as he could have been' Ronnie Wood lookylikey. A visit to Bernie at GB is great, but put a few hours aside for it and only take as much cash as you need
  2. Kids In Glass Houses? EDIT: I wish they were in Japan. Permanently.
  3. Very nice, good shout.
  4.
Marcus Miller is a Gay-Hole.
5. Anyone tried one of these yet? Any good? Cheers, John.
  6. Loud, deep & growly. Got it too.
  7.
looking to buy 3 or 4U roller rack; one of the two wheeled, extendable handle, suitcase type. It is to put my fafner in so I can wheel it to and from the tube station. Where is the best (and cheapest) place to buy something like this?
The internet. Gone.

Nice. Every home should have one.
  9. I must formally thank the boyo Si for putting me onto this bunch last year, priceless.
  10.
I've always loved Primus/Claypool, but this album just takes the biscuit. Anyone into it? Cheers, Jake M
Yes, very much so. I've loved Les & Primus since we managed to clear the front room at a party by having Seas of Cheese & Frizzle Fry on at the pain threshold with about 4 of us musos utterly caned and crying wth laughter. Whales is the natural progression, in my opinion.
  11. Especially when they're stuffed full of 'Bootsy powder'.
  12. How much for the cat?
  13.
"I buy new strings rather than cleaning and re-using" - because nowadays, I can afford it.
+1. Just.
  14. As it says on the tin - 17" Tiny CRT monitor, maybe 8 years old, 15-pin D-type lead. Trade for 4 cans of cooking / driving lager. Collect Newhaven or meet Brighton or it's environs.
  15.
If it was me I'd recommend the Sansamp Para Driver over the BDDI, very similar units but the Para Driver has the mid controls, mids and mid frequency, which makes a whole difference. The BDDI soops a lot the mids and makes your bass dissapear on a band setting whilst, with the Para Driver and the mids control, you can avoid that scoop and bring the bass more upfront. I have also owned the MXR and I found the clean channel very useful but I didn't like the distortion because of the preset Eq curved. No experience with DHA but between the other two units I'd go with the Sansamp Para Driver.
Glad you like it!
  16.
Can't you get some bling diamonds and other assorted rocks in there also?
It'll be cubic zirconia to keep the price down. Chuck some pics of the blue one up to make me jealous will ya? LED's on too?
  17.
Mr Lager - never mind the reading - when you getting one!? He he!
Ooh you tease. When I've moved house and not before! A blue one, with blue LED's. And gold hardware. Might even get the Pompey crest on it too, though it will be fun talking Bernie into it. Pimp as f***.
  18.
But in a band situation I can imagine the big One being the daddy
Alex postulated the idea of 2 running together the other night - I've only just finished cleaning myself up. EDIT: In a good way and a bad way!
  19.
My names Jon and i've been playing bass going on 4 years, nothing compared to how long most of you seem to have been playing for! Currently using an Ibanez GSR205 and recently got myself a Fender BXR-100 amp. Hope to learn alot whilst im here
Good man, welcome.
  20. Love 'em, me. It'll be the 'Ray that's doing it though - pre-EB 'Ray's rock. I've had Hybrids on a few basses now - Jazz, another Jazz, Spector, 'Ray, brief flirtation with VMP, etc. Wish I'd found them years ago. If you didn't get on with the others though, they're just a different gauge. The Stainless Slinkys are good too if that's your bag.
  21. Anyone remember the Venoms Legions answerphone message on the cassette of the Nightmare single? Class.
  22. I currently shove it all in the front, but I might try the compressor in the loop, as I would then be compressing the whole preamped & eq'd signal. [The LH loop is post eq / pre volume].
  23. Gutted for ye Matt, if I could help you out by relieving you of this I certainly would. Have a bump.
  24. Living After Midnight - Judas Priest.
  25.
I also have a custom build 15" driver with an aluminum cone (that Johnnylager's using at the moment) and I like the tone of that too..
So do I - when you need it back Nik, just give us a bell - can deliver!
And I think Alex Claber's first cab designs are based around 15" drivers as well IIRC?
Yep - and I can thoroughly recommend the BarefacedBass Big One. For the first time since I got shot of me Sunn 2x15 in the 80's, I was able to hear myself properly wherever I was on the stage, so was the drummist. Thread here, my brief review here. EDIT: Alex is doing a 2x15 too...
