It's sold by the pound mate.

Is the Fralin passive? If so, (I'd) get a new vol pot and try this. Hey presto, no more S1 - good on a J, not so good on a P.
I've almost always been in three piece bands - there's just something about the chemistry you get. Plus, it's easier to organise rehearsals.
Absolutely. 3 in the new experimental krautrock affair. We have just discovered the joys of a decent rehearsal studio with decent backline too.
Have you bought a house? Did you decorate, get a new kitchen or bathroom, build an extension? Why were you not happy with what you originally bought? Heart transplant my arse - it's a f***ing bass guitar. A nice one though and still for sale Brilliant! It's a 600 quid bass with good upgrades for a crackin' price, it's not a '63 Jazz F.F.S. Give the Pompey dude your money and walk away with a gem. I dread to think what kind of flak I'm going to get if I sell the things I'm thinking of.
I like the cut of your jib young man.
Specifications list the bass as having "2 Vintage Jazz Bass Single-Coil Pickups", so Fenders not DiMarzios
Indeed, stock Fenders, and sounded good but a little quiet - hence my reason for replacing them. Rumour has it that Ged uses DiMarzio DP149's I think, but I can't prove it.
Not up for a fight or anything, but can I ask something to everyone? When does this bass cease to be a Geddy Lee and just become a modded Jazz bass? I'm not familiar with Wizard pickups, or for that matter, the circuitry mods, but having played a new GL signature straight from the box when I was in the US in 2006 it sounded sweeeet as is...I would only have said the machines were a little grindy and suspect.
As for the modding - over time, I found I needed additional tones and I couldn't afford a second bass so I changed stuff 'till I got what I wanted. Now I want, need and now have something completely different and the GL needs to go to fund it, as I still can't afford that elusive second bass. If I could afford to keep them both, I would.
Surely pulling all the guts out of it and replacing it with something different is akin to giving it a heart transplant.
Hence the reason I'm including most of the original CVS. Have you bought a house? Did you decorate, get a new kitchen or bathroom, build an extension? Why were you not happy with what you originally bought? Heart transplant my arse - it's a f***ing bass guitar. A nice one though and still for sale John.
Would you be up for shipping it if i got a hardcase sent to you? This is subject to the outcome of a job interview i have this evening...
Wee, well cushty mush, I would wouldn't I? Good luck n'all geez. Translation from Pompey - 'Yep, shouldn't be a problem mate and the best of British this evening..'

My heart bleeds for you Tell you what mate, I'll look after one if your stuck for room / choice...
Thunderfunk, AE210 and AE112 or Ampeg SVT3PRO and Epifani UL410. They all sound so good that some nights it's difficult to decide which one to take! It really is a good time to be a bass player.
South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: WORKSHOPS
johnnylager replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
Bernie Goodfellow of GB Guitars in Brighton will also be attending the bash and bringing (I believe) a selection of EBS amplification, KSD & GB guitars to demo. More details to follow when fully confirmed. -
-
Just look at this - if that doesn't work than I would suggest professional medical help.

Madre de Dios - I had the honour of seeing this bass yesterday. It is quite simply the most stunning looking & sounding thing I have ever seen. Ever. It has to be seen & heard to be believed. Don't worry Russ, I kept my slack mouthed drooling to myself. You are a very lucky man and I am proper jealous.

Righto chaps, I spent far too long in Bernie Goodfellow's basement yesterday and he offered me a bass I would really rather not pass up! For this to happen, I need to shift my 2004/2005 (dated from the serial #) CIJ Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass, bought new by me in late 2005. Original specs here. I have added Rothstein JSP series / parallel switching to give the option of a more Precision-like tone. This also includes an SBE Orange Drop 0.047uF capacitor for better tone roll-off. This was followed by a set of Wizard 84's to give a higher output and a darker, bassier sound. The latest mod is a Hipshot BT-2 D-tuner, which is more than happy going down to C#. It currently has an aftermarket black WD Music scratchplate, which fits perfectly. I have taken very good care of this bass and it is in almost mint condition, bar some plectrum & fingernail rash on the black scratchplate - the OEM white one is almost mint. It was set up with a nice low action by Bernie at GB Guitars yesterday and plays like a dream, with just enough room to get stuck in without buzzing. It is currently strung with EB Hybrid Stainless Slinky's .045 - .105. I vowed I would never sell this after all the time and money I have put into it, then I visited Bernie's basement. Nuff said. I will include the tags, Hipshot allen key, original pickups, tuning peg, white scratchplate and the Fender gig-bag that came with the bass. I could even put it back to standard (other than the control plate & series / parallel switching). I would prefer collection or meet at a reasonable distance (I'm in Brighton), but I can look into courier if this is better for you. Ah yes, cost - The bass and bolt-ons probably cost me around £800, so say £475?
-
I was in there yesterday and I haven't stopped drooling yet. Nor scheming as to how I can get some money to buy a few 'bits & bobs'. At least, that's what I'll tell Mrs Lager

GB Guitars. Bernie is an absolute diamond, luthier supreme and a tasty player too. I've just spent 2 of the most enlightening hours of my life in there and I'm now going to sell everything to get EBS & KSD gear.
Dont know how the OP has managed to miss all the flame wars on mixing cabs
Looks like the 8x10 war is on the horizon though. Goody. -
I'll see about bringing the LH500 to the SE bash, if anyone wants a go, depending on transport arrangements
Oh yes please mister. I'm thinking about one of these (or the 1000) with (among others) Omnis or a barefacedbass Compact or 2 for me new rig...
