1. Some appalling tape of a jam band we got together to record (in me folks house - they were in) an 'Evil Dead' inspired tune, 'Raped By a Tree', with the thought provoking lyrics of 'Gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta get away 'Gonna, gonna, gonna, gonna get raped by a tree' I remember this was my first foray into the wonderful world of effects, with whatever the guitarist (who was in fact a bass player) brought with him all plugged in and turned up full. I only remember fuzz & wah and playing whatever parts of Metallica's 'Anaethesia - Pulling Teeth' I could. Loudly. And not feeling embarrassed in front of me folks. Must find it...
 2. Crikey, he's quite a bit better than me. Who says the Jazz bass doesn't rock?
 3.
OOh didn't realise they did a 3" version...
It's all about that extra inch mate...
 4.
I'd love 'em but if I bought them, I'd be sleeping in Birkenhead Park for the rest of my natural, drinking Frosty Jack and remembering when I was married.
+1. And I live in Brighton.
 5.
What on earth is that!! If it had rocking chair style feet I think I would be after one! Superb. Would probably mod it a bit and add a headrest
Me too. I'd spend more on it than it was worth, de-value it by doing so, then want something else.
 6.
Oh dear
Oh dear indeed. Medic - this man needs help! And you'll have to wait 'till I've finished with Girls Aloud. Won't be long Edit: Finished!
 7.
i think the basic idea is that people want is similar to the the features you get with an ebs microbass but without the 2 channels and the distortion.
And the price!
 8.
I'm Hoping to find a way to phatten my tone with effects pedals.
Aphex Bass Xciter?
 9.
Some really nice comments and not one 'I hate Warwicks' post.
Where's the BBC when you need him?

 11. Fingers or plectrum - must be, I sound f***ing rubbish even with expensive gear!
 12.
Out of the 4 I own, I'd say that my Aria Pro II Elite II is the top dog. I love it, it's so comfortable and has a really nice growl to the sound. It's completely passive but when I got it first I thought it was active, the output is very high. Needless to say I was a bit confused when I opened the control cavity and realised that it wasn't active. My new jazz is catching up on it but I'm still in that honeymoon period so we'll see!
I had an Elite I Cliff stylie for 20-odd years and although it was heavy and left my forearm red raw every time I played it, selling it was up there in the top 5 of stupid thing to do. Got nearly twice what I paid in 1986 mind Do love me Jazz now though...
 13. Where's Machine when you need him? He's also able to speak Brummie ABM EQ: Shape (Push Flat) +8dB @ 50Hz & 4kHz, -8dB @ 400Hz, filter slope - 6dB/octave Bass +/-15dB @ 45Hz Slider1 +/-15dB @ 110Hz Slider 2 +/-15dB @ 340Hz Middle +/-15dB @ 660Hz Slider 3 +/-15dB @ 1.3kHz Slider 4 +/-15dB @ 2.6kHz Treble +/-15dB @ 7kHz shelving MAG / EB EQ: Deep +8dB @ 50Hz Bass +/-15dB @ 100Hz Lo Mid +/-15dB @ 220Hz Middle +/-15dB @ 660Hz Hi Mid +/-15dB @ 1.6kHz Treble +/-15dB @ 7kHz Bright + 10dB @ 10kHz Hope it makes more sense to you....!
 14.
Thanks Dave! So - how about £10 per head?
Sounds good to me
 15.
...it has to be out that house by tuesday morning.......apparently!
I feel your pain
 16.
Thanks - re: issue, can't you DI from a Punch Factory? - the spec sheet for this says "Balanced Pro DI output". In which case TU2>MXR> Punch Factory would work on all levels?
Doh, of course, most Aphex pedals do including my Xciter. I'll give the next soundman a choice of 3 DI's next time and watch him sweat Yup, TU2 > MXR > Punch Factory would give you a compressed DI out.
 17.
I now realise my 3 year long quest to find the perfect bass for me has been a futile exercise...
Take longer Have a nice break mush
 18. I have a similar set-up to you mate, but the OD & DI are seperate (unless I use the SansAmp as a 2nd OD) I go - TU2 > J-Lo fuzz > EBS MultiComp > Bass Xciter > SansAmp DI. I found the OD sounded better compressed than being fed a compressed signal. It's a fairly recent change - Cheddatom's idea in fact - and works. Like if you went TU2 > MXR > Punch Factory. It does mean that you would be sending an uncompressed signal to the desk if you DI out of your MXR though, should that be an issue. I tend to use the amps pre-EQ DI out...
 19. Modded Geddy Lee with Wizard 84's to give it more bollocks, a series / parallel switch to give it more bollocks and a D-tuner to give it more er, bollocks. Love it. Would also love a Wal, a nice Precision, a Status S-2, a G&L Asat, a MM Sterling, a Rick 4001, a Spector and a 5-string and that's just this week. None of it is ever likely to happen though, so I mod the arse out of what of I've got to keep me ticking over. And of course, I love it.
 20.
...she's good at baking too!! lol
Game on! Oh, I've just re-read it - you said 'baking'

 22.
...and this forum appears to be a good place for info.
Youre life will never be the same again! Welcome Dave.
 23. Thanks Nick, nice one mate, top job Nowt that hasn't been seen before, but you're welcome to try 'em - a Geddy Lee with Wizard 84's, a Hipshot and posh S-1 stylie switching, EBS MultiComp, SansAmp ParaDriver, Aural Xciter and a J-Lo fuzz. Will even stretch to new strings! Will also bring me ABM 500 combo in case we don't have enough amps. Can't wait. EDIT: Come on lads, the Yorkshire bash has 5 pages...!
 24.
i've never taken a spare bass to a gig.
Me neither and never needed to - saying that's bound to jinx it. Never had another bass to take though, one does me. At least that's what I tell myself
