2. I love a relic, gorgeous. Wish I had the cash, good luck with the sale.
  3. Wow, that's in amazing condition! Lovely bass.
  4. Yes, sorry guys for the lack of pics...I'm working on it, honest...I'm stuck for a camera at the minute
  5.
Another long shot (I'm looking for a DJ4 if I can get it), but would you be interested in a Warwick Jazzman 4? Linky: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=48727 Regards Rich
Thanks Rich but I'm after a maple neck, Fender P or MM. The Glaub is a fine bass, just can't seem to settle with it.
  6.
couldn't interest you in a trade with a 5 string sandberg california custom, not what you were asking for i know soa long shot Nathan
Thanks for the offer lowfer but any more than 4 strings is a nightmare for me, never been able to get to grips with it
  7. I have here a Bob Glaub Skyline It's a few weeks old now, done a few gigs with it and I'm not really into at the moment. Sunburst, Rosewood neck, Vintage white P guard, a rather posh bit of kit! Love to hear if anyone has a Maple US J bass they'd like to trade. In same New condition. 8.
Hi Jase, TBH I need the cash (its why I have sold several other bits of kit recently) - have ordered a Shuker JJB and they don't come cheaply! Besides I will end up at the end of my gear sell-off with two P basses (US Fender and Shuker JJB) and I don't really fancy anything else (the only other bass I've always had a hankering for is a Thunderbird just because it looks so rock!)
Ok, no worries mate, hope it sells for you.
  9. Brand new Levy's gig bag with Lakland logo across front. I have a hardcase on the way so this will just be sitting in the house. I'm not sure what they would go for. The site I nicked the text from had them at $34.99 so £25 plus delivery? I also nicked a pic because my camera has packed up. It's just like this one and in brand new condition 600 denier polyester electric bass guitar gig bag with ½" foam padding, string and bridge protector, two accessory pouches and dual rubber padded backpack straps. Inside dimensions: 47" x 16" at lower bout.
  10. Nice one Clive! I fancy an Attitude now though!
  11. I've also just found out after tonights gig that on Sunday, backline will be provided...it's Ampeg

I got a Lakland P on the way, so I'm now tempted to try a bridge pup but still two outs....wonder what that's like, Dolphin bass as opposed to whale bass!
Custom strings is the next...Im almost being courted...
Custom? Like whale attracting frequency strings? Scallops I reckon! The one thing I could never suss was how to run a clean channel as well as evil distortion and The Model One whale bass.
Nope,Let Jim onto it....The Neck P/U IS phat..so much so I just let loose on it solo'd and its like having an extra octave down low. I chose a Willpower over a Model one,but kept the regular model P.....Still havent finished modding this Bass mind... Tonight I Bi-amp,just wondering if Ive enough cables....
Yeah, the Willpower lines up better. What else are you doing to the bass?
  15. Yes, I've had a similar experience with Ampeg, turned up at a gig and the main band were supplying backline an SVT head (not sure of the model) and an Ampeg 810. I was gagging to have a crack at the Ampeg stack...I did and what a let down, it just didn't happen for me or my bass at all. I couldn't seem to get the mid punch I like using, it all seemed very loose, warm and wooly. I was gutted. I'm sure it was a great rig, it just didn't happen for me at all. It was like the huge build up to a band or a new film and when you watch it you think, "what a load of old sh*te!" I'd prefer to use Peavey or Trace but at the moment I can't stop using my LH-500, all much cheaper.
This threads for Jase to have flashbacks with....
Tidy Job Ross! I miss mine so much it's unreal. Did you do it yourself? What do you reckon on the two amp thing? Much massive bass on the way!!
  17.
£110 for the p/up, pot, knob and fitting. I did the D Tuner myself.
Bargain!
  18.
It's like anything else, if you practice it enough it becomes second nature. I haven't done much fretless playing in the last 10 years or so, but in the early to mid-'90s I used unlined fretless basses for everything, and sang harmony, and was often quite drunk/otherwise incapacitated. So long as I could hear myself I was always fine. And before the lectures start I stopped playing shows under the influence after I over-did it one night, which wasn't my fault - it was my birthday and the bar staff and our tenor player conspired to spike my drinks and by the second set I couldn't even read my set list.
I suppose lines don't matter if you're that wasted
  19.
Thanks Jase - and I just checked out your band - really good stuff man, kind of reminds of Ben Folds Five (with a touch of Supertramp) with Jaco (or his mate ) on bass... actually your playing reminds me of Mike Watt more, which is a very good thing. Thanks for listening to my shizzle again - I'm gagging to do some more fusion stuff soon - the chops are back in, big time! Mike
Cheers Mike, I just googled Mike Watt, didn't have a clue who he was....I do now though Look forward to more of your vids and links!
  20.
Depends on your gig... sometimes even the bass player needs to connect with the audience on a level other than musical.
Yes, good point...how you do that unlined, is beyond me I need stabilizers!!!
  21. Did you route the pick ups yourself? It's a bloody good job, they line up really well!
  22. I can't see the issue with looking at the board on a fretless while playing, even if it is all night, who cares? Just wondering about flats......is intonation more controlable than say using Steel or Nickel?
