1. That's a cool version of Giant Steps Mike and Push reminded me every now and then of aka Moon, Michel Hatzigeorgiou's live groove and feel, if you get me. Thanks for sharing
 2. Great looking bass! What's the Roadworn like against US or CIJ's?
 3.
I've recently decided to switch from fretless gigging to fretted. I enjoy playing the fretless, but I would tend to spend the whole time looking at my left hand, and gigs are more fun when you're looking at the crowd. S.P.
Yep, I always looking at my fretting hand on fretless, has to be done no two ways about it for me! I look on fretted too.
 4.
Why? Why does it have to be gradual? Surely a new editor means a fresh start? If these "improvements" continue at this gradual rate, we'll have a decent Bass magazine in time for my grandkids. The current team of crack music journalists just aren't cutting it.
Why give it a chance? The same reason you would give most things a chance, so they can have a fair crack. You might have a fair point if the current editor had been churning out the same old stuff for ages but that's not the case is it.
 5.
Bought the new copy yesterday with high expectations. Thought it was still lousy. Maybe a bit better, or maybe I'm just being hopeful? That wasn't actually an interview with Flea, it was just an advert, so you can tear that out. Is it that difficult to but a load of guitar magazines, read them, coipy the good bits and apply it to bass? Yes, a review can be entertaining and informative. Currently, they are neither. There are a number of posters on here that are both entertaining a informative. Sling them a few quid.
We've already been told about some changes that will be made but it's not going to happen in one issue, give it a chance. New editors first Issue IIRC.
 6. Still waiting for mine to be delivered.
 7. Don't stray too far from the bridge or the nasty Intonation Troll will eat you up....it's also been known for him to venture onto the bridge aswell ( he's on mine quite often) Keep your eyes and ears open....he's everywhere
 8. My band will be at The Summers End Prog Festival in Lydney.
 9. Why ruin a great bass?
 10. Still Looking
 11. I love all your basses! The Maple and the Franklin Bridge do it for me. Thanks WoT, there's nothing like a Fender Fest!

 13.
You know when you're playing and you're maybe tapping your foot in time with the beat, a lot of the time you'll be counting 1,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4, ... ...you're playing in what's called 'common time' or 4/4 time ('4/4' is read as 'four-four'). Each group of four beats is called a 'bar'. A note that lasts as long as a beat lasts a quarter of a bar (in this particular instance) and is called a 'quarter note'. A quarter note looks like a solid black oval with a stem coming out of it vertically (up or down) A whole note lasts for a whole bar (four beats) in 4/4 and a half note lasts for half a bar (two beats) A whole note looks like a hollow oval without a stem and a half note looks like a hollow oval with a stem. Easy, huh? The logic breaks down a bit when you go into other time signatures, where there are more or less than 4 quarter notes per bar, and/or the beat may not be a quarter note in length, but that's what happens when you try to simplify terminology.
A 4/4? That's it?...what an idiot Now, if the chap had said 4/4 time then I would've got him, quater note.... didn't have a clue! It's a bit like scales too, probably played them at one time or another but could never identify them. My theory extends to this: I know the four strings on my bass EADG and I know where the notes are on the fretboard...that's it! It's like knowing the alphabet but not being able to spell anything.
 14. These look a bit tasty too! Hartke Hydrive Combo
 15.
Tried Teen Town etc, gave up! Tried Silly Putty, School Days, etc gave up! Tried loads of Sheehan...bad clone tone! gave up! I can't really play anything by any of the bass players I'm into. I think I give up to easily too.

+1 on that but still doesn't stop me playing (and enjoying it). Recently gone back to where I started and dug out the Jamie Abersold stuff I first started off with and relearning some of the theory side I lost interest in. Now if only I could get over my fear of anything smaller than a quarter note..... Oh and if someone could pop over and show me what I'm doing wrong with my thumb when I try to slap, it acts like the equivalent of two left feet !!
Part of my problem is discipline, I complain about not understanding any theory (quater note???? )but I do bugger all to change it, I'm certain theory would help me as a player...but I just know that I'll never bother to find out, lazy or what? Also practice for me is hard work, I hate it, whether it's on my own or with a band.
 16. The whole bass sounds great I reckon, Neck, both or just Bridge....great playing WoT! Bridge pup fan meself
 17. Tried Teen Town etc, gave up! Tried Silly Putty, School Days, etc gave up! Tried loads of Sheehan...bad clone tone! gave up! I can't really play anything by any of the bass players I'm into. I think I give up to easily too.
 18. Aye, course the world needs another bass player....we'll slowly take over the world, go for it, enjoy it!
 19.
Should be an OBBM cable waiting for me when I get home tonight
Got a couple of speaker cables from OBBM.......Brilliant quality! Same for the instrument cables too!
 20.
Keep it,Low Bs are fun.
They're dangerous, they attract whales and unknown deep marine life.
 21.
I think it will probably happen, but will be a long process! I'm confident we could put together a decent set, get gigs, and have fun. My biggest concerns are the investment in a PA and finding time. I will keep this thread updated as and when. I feel that we will probably take it slightly less seriously than some of you and make little or no money. But I'm happy with that.
Serious or not, there's very little money either way. Good luck, show us your set list when you decide!
 22.
Popular music, ie, Pop Music has been around for a 1,000 odd years. In the early 60's, The right time, the right set of communication networks, the right economic situation was primed for the right pop group. The Beatles were the first band that were able to communicate ideas of sex, anarchy, hedonism, murder, mental ilness, black magic, loneliness and all other human emotions and failings/celebrations, into 3 mins of perfect popular music. The Beatles are without doubt, the most important pop band ever.
Beats me why anyone would want to communicate ideas of sex in their music, can't think of anything more disgusting!
