1. Number 9, number 9,.....chuck a hellbucker in the 9...imagine running two amps off that thing!
2.
Co-incidentally Jase, did you go the whole hog and do the scalloping on the fingerboard too?
Funny you should ask....I did at one point get Dave Dearnley to scallop the last 3 or 4 frets but it was on my "testing or prototype" bass a Charvel Model 3b, he also replaced the rosewood board for a maple one....I never really used them though. On my Fender I didn't have the scallops.
3. Yes Ross I've done it. I had a P bass, chucked in a Model One and replaced the P pups with Dimarzio. I had two seperate outs, each pup had a volume control. I ran it through a stereo power amp, A Pearce BC1, using the clean channel for the Humbucker from hell, theother channel was for huge distortion....cabs:a 2x15 for bass and a homemade 8x10 for distortion. One thing I didn't manage to do was also run a clean channel, adds definition tothe huge sound you end up with! I can honestly say it was the bass tone from hell....HUGE and that's without the clean channel, crossovers etc, etc...Yes, Sheehan-izing ones bass is awesome. DO IT! or buy the Attitude

5. Bill's always been a "bass player" ....he may be known for his solo playing but he's just as accomplished with the other stuff....one of the greatest Rock Bass players ever! There's some good stuff on his myspace from his new album Holy Cow.
6. My very first bass was a Vox Clubman....it was sort of ugly-ish, not as bad as the Vox pictured above, there's just no need of it!
7.
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but how can you say these are ugly! The phantom even won a design award. Though not from a bass player, obviously!
Oooo....nasty basses! Each to his own though
8. Well for me it's neither here nor there, I reckon you are what you are when you play......Alder, Ash or Walnut with a dash of pine, maybe there is something in it but there's no way I could tell by just listening to a player...I wouldn't know unless I saw it.
9. Vox, Burns...so damn ugly, still classic I suppose....ugly classics!
10.
I think its, 95ml x 65 x 16. mean anything?
Ummm sort of, just wondering if any of the Fender necks would sit in it comfortably
11. Would you happen to know the neck pocket dimensions?
12. Mail him your thoughts...he's always got a blog on the go
13.
Am I alone in disagreeing with you here? On high settings it squashes the sound up way too much, but on 2-3 it just tames the peaks a bit. As for how it sits in the mix, I play in a 3-piece rock band and don't have any trouble. A
I agree there Alien, exactly!....squashes the tone, I don't use mine but I should imagine it would be useful for slapping, tapping or popping maybe.
14.
ahh thanks for that! my heads swelling now! where would i get a spare tube,
These people are very helpful. Watford Valves
15.
My lad will be pleased asell as he will aquire my old set up, not bad eh 10 year old with a 4x10, 1x15 and a 360w head in his bedroom, god help my neighbours
Tidy! I bet he's chuffed
16. Nice dark rosewood
17. That's a lovely bass....if only it was a 4 string
18. They've gone up in price of late, a few months ago you could pick one up for about £260 or so, I think about £380-£400 now....shocking! It's not what Hartke is about really (for me anyway) affordable gear for skint musicians....not so affordable now....LH series have shot up too! Either way the HA3500 is a punchy little number, reliable with good tone shaping
19. I've seen some of the younger players post vids and myspace stuff....some really good players too!
20.
The response of the cab is great, really punchy and clear! You get a nice mix of high end clarity and low end drive.
....that's with your HA5500?
21. I love the VX cabs....good luck with the sale. What do you make of the Hydrive?
22. Just had a listen to the link........I just don't get you guys! So what do you get from playing that low? I'm not knocking you low end players at all.....WHY?
23. Maybe it would be a bit smater to pay a little extra......good info guys!
24. Could anybody suggest a flatwound......the cheapest make will be just fine for me at the mo!
25. Bit of a dilema, I can understand your concern in not wanting to shell out for something you're not into.....keep it cheap I reckon, doesn't have to be Fender...maybe a decent P bass copy will do the job.....I haven't a clue about punk but Sid V did have a rather cool P bass
