In an accompanied solo, yes! Unaccompanied, random and unrehearsed is something I think works well.

Shadows and Light for me is a bit difficult to watch, too many edits of wolves and nonsense! The playing is great though!

Jeff Berlin uses a normal Dean....doesn't he? What about Geddy? or Tony Franklin, anyone know?

Seems to sustain some life in the strings, more so if you've got a wet fresh one but for me it's mainly to get rid of that awful sticky drag you get, rather than sustaining the strings life.

Have a read up on Billy Sheehan, he's got it sussed when using distortion.....don't quote me but I think he actually considers himself a distortion expert
