1. Looks great! One question....why did you re-cut the slots? Just wondered if it matters whether slots are filled or left open
2. I quite like watching a live bass solo, a player doing something random or unrehearsed I find interesting. Written solos can be really good too, something that's been worked on and rehearsed is just as valid as an improvised part.
3. That, is just gorgeous!
4. Did you have any issues with the neck joint? Looks Great, nice one!
5.
Can anyone put up a full review, you know, really put it through it's paces! I'm interested in one of LH500 as a backup. I'm mostly interested in what peoples expereinces are of using it onstage DI'd into a PA, the only reason I ask is because my Ashdown ABM has an input volume and an output volume (i know this has been discussed in this thread already). But with this I'm able to set the volume going to the PA, and then my onstage volume seperately, which is extremely helpful. How does the Hartke compare? only having one volume etc. Cheers Si
It's Pre Volume and Pre Eq.......does this mean it bypasses the amp volume and Eq?????
6. I used to own a 1978 Peavey Centurion head. I haven't tried the Peavey Tour 450.....I think there is a review of the tour series here:bass player tv
7. FWIW......If it's simplicity you want with just a very simple bass, mid and treble Eq with a punchy, loud and warm tube/valve tone, give Hartke a blast. Either way they're both good quality at good prices.
8.
Well it will be great if it happens that quick, I've got serious GAS for that amp.
I know what you mean...I've been using the LH500, I want another one, I also want the LH100 and of course I'd love to have a crack at the Kilo.....GASSSSS Gas for me was always basses but I'm into amps at the moment
9.
Yeah, that's what I was told. God knows when all that's going to be sorted, until that time I'm going to have to take your advice and be patient
It's supposed to be available after January and I think it's all being wrapped up with Sound Tech pretty soon.
10.
It's all down to some random politics between distributors.
I think they're going with Korg.
11.
Not very much according to this... But bear in mind I know bugger all about anything except early/mid 80's rock/metal and we didn't use these namby-pamby lightweight things back then
I used mine with a rock covers band, everything from ACDC, Metallica, Sabbath, etc....it's a pretty fierce little number, totally different sound to the HA3500 I'd been using previously. I liked the midrange tone I was getting didn't seem to lose the bottom end either, I didn't use much of the treble control, just adjusted things between the bass, mid and used the tone on my Jazz.
12. Maybe people are getting the Kilo confused with the LH1000.
13.
There are a few places showing this amp. However, from the horses mouth (unless the rep that was telling my friendly shop owner was full of crap) nowhere in Europe will be getting them for quite some time. All I can say is watch this space.
It's true, they haven't even gone into production, so I hear.
14.
Update: Was told by the fella in the know, that due to some argument between Samson Tech (Uk Harkte Distributors) and Korg (who are taking over distribution) that the Kilo is not coming to Europe for the foreseeable future So no try out for me. What the hell am I going to get that appears that versatile dammit.
Best things come to those who wait
15. I really enjoy this place, made some good contacts, made some good deals, found out about new players, picked up some great advice, had a bit of a rant I'm all for development and taking an idea to the next level and would be quite happy to pay a members subscription....good to grow I reckon and support the cause!
16. My name is Jase.......and I'm a Basschat addict.
17. Internals....hmmmm I don't know what's in the guts of an LH500 but it's something along the lines of the Alembic type preamp, don't quote me on that though, I'm rubbish at the tech stuff
18.
You're right DV are showing them, as are Thomann. The rep certainly didn't say anything about not being able to get them and the guy that owns the shop is under the impression that it'll be there fairly soon. We'll see I guess
Let us know if you resist temptation or not
19. Looks like a cock pit in a plane I didn't think the Kilo was available for a while yet.
20. I just had mine Wednesday and used it tonight.....very impressed, talk about plug in and play!!!! Very loud and punchy too. It's really nice to have the simplicity of just bass, mid and treble controls. Nice fat, warm and an even tone response, very clean too. Sounds great with a Jazz and a midrange boost.
21. Bass solos are great I love 'em! Any type of solo in fact, on any type of instrument! We need more solos, more improvisation, more expression and more experimentation...good on him!
22.
'Ladies Night in Buffalo' - Dave Lee Roth - the best thing Billy Sheehan ever did.
One of my all time favorite Billy lines, good call!
23. What a nice way to start the day.....some gorgeous Fender porn, brilliant picture with the Ampeg by the way!
24. Nah, there's nowhere to rest your fag and get a classic vintage burn mark, nowhere to have "Fender" written..I don't think they'll catch on
25.
Hi its been a long, long time since i tried these strings! I'd say probably 8-10 years since i last bought some! so i had forgotten why i dont use them! Anyway i got hold of a few sets yesterday to try on my sadowsky's!! All i can say is that i have no idea how Rotosound are still in business! They felt really rough, had really uneven tone from string to string! one string was bright and lively while another was dead sounding! This happened with both sets! Just plain RUBBISH!!! they had the ability to turn a great playing/sounding bass into the complete opposite! They must be giving different strings out to all the hundreds of named artist that apparently endorse these bad, bad strings!! .............anyone else had this experience? does anyone want a set of rotosounds? 45-105 been used for 15 minutes!
Yes, I have to say I was fed up of being disappointed pack after pack...I used to love the tone on these strings but for whatever reason things just got too inconsistent....the odd dead string, uneven tone, they started to feel unbalanced. Haven't a clue what changed but they just don't do it for me anymore. They used to growl real well to.
