Level Frets

The reason I posted was, I'm sure I read somewhere that Percy Jones had a "fret levelling" job done on a bass
2. Nice looking bass, been oggling rics/ricalikes myself lately. Is it me or do those pups look huge?
3. I haven't used one in years, used to have a 78 (I think) can't fault a P bass, great sound! If I was going to GAS out on one it would have to be a Tony Franklin or a 57 Reissue (or a vintage 57 )...lovely necks on those. Mmmmm: http://www.wata.com/Htmls/pb57.html

5. Nightmare....my amp decided it was going to do its own thing, by crackling, phutting, farting and just as it would settle....... off it would go again So in Swansea The Office last night, there was a bass player doing a good impression of Norman Collier.
6. I love the idea, just wondering how much use it would get, bound to have guitarist on your back for even thinking about one
7. That's a gorgeous looking jazz OHM......I'd love one of them

Level Frets

Just come across this on ebay, anybody had any experience with level frets??? 10.
It completely depends on the gig.. I voted all three anyway. For a pub: Backline only. Art centre, small theatre: Backline and FOH. Festival, big theatre: Backline, FOH and monitors. There'll never be a situation where I'll do without backline.
Same for me too.
11. Aye, nice to see a thread like this, rather than the usual drivel of complaints. I for one hope BC keeps on evolving, cheers Basschat! Jase.

Hartke HA 4000

Yep, seems the Hartke stuff has Jack Gremlins I'm going to take it to the usual place to see if a normal jack can be used, if not...... looks like I have to get in touch with Hartke.
13. I've just moved over to a VX 8x10 from TP 4x10's. I had good results from 4x10's but prefer the paper to the aluminium cones, still get the same midrange cut as the 4x10's but as you'd expect, gives a much more warmer punch.
14. Billy is great for things like that, always willing to have a chat, they say never meet your hero but Billy is such a nice guy.
15. Spot on with point no 2 OTPJ.
16. It's a drag when other members get loud throughout a gig, I bet it's a nightmare for you on upright, I don't play upright but if the volume situation arises with other band members on electric I just let them get on with it...avoiding all "volume contests" Hope your blisters calm down for your gig

Hartke HA 4000
Is it one of these fully enclosed plastic jack sockets that are soldered directly onto a PCB ? I had to replace a couple of these on my HA3500. They're not the best quality jacks unfortunately but, because of the PCB mounting, it can be tricky to get replacements (have to ask Hartke for them). It might be possible to repace the jack with an "open type" Switchcraft jack and just solder wires from the jack socket and onto the PCB ? It's a bit fiddly but the end result would be a much sturdier jack socket. I did something similar to this on an small Fender Champ because the cheap plastic Fender jack sockets were brittle and would fall apart through use.
Cheers BOD, yes it is one of the enclosed type....you've hit the nail right on the head, it has to be the jack, suppose it makes sense if you had to replace them on a HA3500.....tidy darts! I was beginning to think the amp was just unreliable Ta very much!
18. ......so it's basically the look rather than the tone difference?

Hartke HA 4000

Actually, I think it may be the input socket/jack on the amp....I tried the route Vasquez suggested and the amp still seemed a little untrustworthy .... But what I did notice was the jack appeared to be very slack inside...as if it hadn't clipped onto the lead in the usual way and comparing it to the -20db input I think (hope) that's the problem...
20. Mahogany body, nice bass! sunburst too

Lovely basses too
