Just wondering...did the word Indie come from Independent, as in the record label/companies???

Depends who you're talking about, if it's just another Indie band with a small deal I doubt they earn mega bucks. Is there anyone on this forum who are signed I wonder?

I have 2 fretless and 1 fretted, thought I'd need three but it seems one of each is all I ever use. The one fretless just gets looked at and occasionally played. If cash wasn't a problem I dare say there'd be a few more to look at and occasionally play

Self indulgent even.[/quote] Yes, time does march on, I think he and other legendary bass players earned their place but at the same time bass playing has moved on, there are other players with valid things to say.

I'm quite enjoying this thread, it's good to hear all the different opinions on the players mentioned, it's healthy in my opinion, although I haven't made any serious comments about any players.....yet. Ferret brought up a good point on the Jaco side of things....about people not knowing who he was, I was going to suggest that generally it's musicians who know about Jaco but saying that, there is only one member in a covers band who I play with that sort of knows who Jaco was and these are players that have been around for ever who love to talk nonsense about guitars, music and players, weird innit!

I'm surprised Geddy, JPJ or Jack Bruce haven't had a mention yet.
