Think I'll see if I can try a bass with them fitted first, maybe the 62 USA Jazz, just in case. Anyhow chaps thanks for the insight, tidy darts

Ello, Been thinking a lot lately about changing the volume and tone controls on my Jazz for the stack knob configuration, I like the idea of the separate tones for each pick up. I came across one site but wondered if there was the same sort of service in the UK. Also if anybody here has tried them or is currently using them, I'd love to know what you think US site: http://www.has-sound.com/harnesses.htm Jase.

I really need to get my CIJ 62 done, I've only had it a few months and already it's wearing to the point that the odd note will choke rather than sustain or breath, think I'll keep using super glue, works well on my USA.

Lounge noodling beginner has sudden rush of courage

Nice one 2wheeler, balls of steel to go to a jazz jam night, not just a plain and simple jam night but a jazz one!!!!! and your first time playing in front of people. Magic! -
Mine marks, it's rock hard it's just super glue, about 6 tubes. The marking ( on my bass, don't know about HG Thor ) doesn't effect playability at all, it's weird, my board is looking a bit rough lately if you hold it in a certain light but it's still really smooth and even...odd!

It'd be the biggest book in the world.

Almost forgot, if you order do it by phone rather than online, for some reason delivery is £6 online, it was £1.95 delivery by phone....weird!
I've seen them on the 'bay before, but not as cheap as that. Where did you buy them from? +1 to that. I did an A/B test with the nickel hartkes against some d'addario EXL165; the EXL were a little fuller and smoother sounding, but not by a country mile. As stated earlier they did feel quite rough on the fingers (as kingforaday mentioned), but I welcome that on a sweaty gig!
From here H&R: http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_p...INGS&page=1

Just took a look at the System Three site, they offer pigment for their epoxy, that's got to be the next big epoxy thing, unless it's already being done, be good to get some trippy, experimental psychedelic boards I reckon
I put a model 1 into a Kalamazoo KB many years ago, and I'd have to agree with all the above - much better clarity and definition than the original mudbucker, and string spacing identical. They come (or used to) with 4-pole wiring and a micro-switch to allow series/parallel switching. Well-made too, sealed in an epoxy block, and black metal top. I later put the same pick-up into the bridge position of a P-bass copy to make a "poor man's 'Ray", and even though the strings were way off the poles it worked suprisingly well. If you find a UK suppler please let me know - my Gibson RD Artist has had its original pick-ups replaced with Epi EB3 units, I've got an original '60's Gibbo bridge humbucker, but a DMz model 1 would be great at the neck, or even both.
Haha! Mudbucker, yep a big block of epoxy, I didn't have the switch on mine but it was black metal, out of line with the strings as you say but sounded the business

Most memorable instruments you've played?
Ah, but that's what uprights do best! Gotta love the sound, but damn it's unwieldy to schlep around.
Do you have one then? What do they do best, Jam nights or being upright? I can imagine it's a pain to lug around, this particular one was, I'm told a 3/4 size, so like a big cello I suppose, a cheap Czech make????? That's what I got told. I should've kept it and let the kids paint it, being that I couldn't play it -
Folks, I'm thinking of getting the fingerboard of my fretless Jazz Bass coated. I remember someone saying that they got a neck of theirs coated by a certain Mr Shuker. Would he do such custom jobs ? Anybody had similar work done and if so would you recommend the luthier who did the work. Cheers
Hi dmz, Did I read in a recent thread your from Wales? Are you near Cardiff? I had mine done by Dave Dearnley in Splott, he did a great job took him about a fortnight, I have a pic somewhere if you're interested and I think his number is in the "Recommended Luthier thread

Credit where credit is due...it had Dave Brubeck on it ...Bilbo was a smidge right Joking aside, it has some huge artists on there, I've heard a few of the tracks but I'm no jazz expert. If you're into it...job done in my book!
