yep bought a pack of 3 a month or two ago... they're ok sounding but they're way rougher on the fingers than any other nickel set i've tried, feel more like steel ones, so its back to elites for me!
Ahhh, that's what I wanted to hear, I've moved from Rotos to D'Addario to these. I was hoping they would have the steel feel. Roto's were my string for years but I started to notice that the life span got less and less. I don't expect they'll be better than Pro Steels but it's an option when you're skint

Maybe look at something like this, you can always sell it on if it's not your bag or get it re-fretted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/yamaha-rbx-270-fretl...1QQcmdZViewItem
Lenny "The Guvnor" McLean, he was a real hard case. I don't think he liked jazz though. Sorry. Errm... thomann?

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/stagg-abs2-rb/8561 - Fits a Jazz nicely, but the strap will need to come off if you use straplocks. Not dirt cheap, but takes a fair twatting without complaining on those rare occasions the drummer deigns to carry something other than his rucksack full of White Lightning. Doubles nicely as a brace between the bass drum and the sofa at rehearsals too.
Cheers chaps, that's great!!

Well, if they're as good as a HA 4000 or a HA 3500 WE'RE ON A WINNER Will post results soon as I try them at a gig which will be over the weekend.
-
Just ordered a 3 pack of these HSB 445 3P, just wondering if anyone has tried them. £14.90 for 3 packs not bad at all

Fagins Llantrisant. Really good gig to play with a receptive crowd, nice chap running the place. A convenient side door to the stage, straight out of the van and start setting up , no lifting for me though pulled my back Saturday night. Bit of an odd sound when you're playing, must be because the stage is like an alcove type of thing. Had a chance to try our new Behringer desk and a vocal monitor called a "Thump" it's one of those light weight type of speakers that have plenty of power. A good gig!

The Dolls House Abertillery More stairs....this time even worse, steep and a very low ceiling, ended up pulling my back. In house PA but the sound guy was more interested in his 28 versions of Stairway to Heaven on his pc than actually sorting a decent sound, still I managed to get a nice tight sound from my HA 4000, think it might be something to do with using D'Addario strings more these days, still get good response from them even if the band want to tune down a semi tone, I normally hate tuning down but with these strings seems to be a little more tension Not a bad gig though.

Ponty and District Club Pontypridd. A place with evil stairs I forgot about the stairs....still a tidy gig, a darn good turn out for the boys. As much as we appreciated the in house PA, the lights, the smoke machine, the dressing room, the nice people that run it, the nice people that go there....it sounded DREADFUL!!! We had monitors everywhere but they just didn't seem to do the job, the sound guy is a bass player so we sort of had a huge bass and drum sound We couldn't hear each other very well, the vocal mic was feeding back as soon as you looked at it, t'was hard work so we thought, Ah feck it! although the sound guys are a little on the green side lets just enjoy it for what it is....a rock band with a s**te sound Ended up being an enjoyable gig
Because I'm now so damn anal about dings (I must buy an old knackered bass) if I'm doing any adjustments involving a screwdriver I cover the immediate paintwork with cling film - it's saved me from a few scratches. God I'm sad....
Hmmm good idea, I'll remember that one
-
Did a DING!! just last night on my new CIJ 62 fretless, thought I'd adjust the pick up height and......OOPPS! slipped off the screw head and put a little "skid" in the paintwork, didn't go down to the wood though....... may as well relic it now!

Think I'll give them a blast on my fretless.
yeah not bad that - i'm in the process of relic-ing a MIM Sunburst Jazz - don't really know why, just thought i'd give it a whirl!! will post some pics up once its done (providing i don't ruin it of course!!) peace c
Look forward to that, I've been thinking about getting my CIJ vintage white done. Are you doing just the paint work or is the hardware getting the treatment too?
-
Just had a crack at it....works tidy

Yeah, bit pricey as you say, nonetheless nice bit of porn to oggle

I've read in a few random reviews that some of the CIJ signature models, Dunn, Redding have the slim neck profile like the Geddy, also found a site which had a Geddy with a 3 bolt neck plate: http://www.chrisguitars.com/bass.html Scroll down for pics of the Geddy neck. I'm gassing now for a Noel Redding

Some differences FWIW Neck Radius 9.5 on USA and 7.5 or 7.25 on CIJ (not 100% on CIJ ) Geddy is 9.5 Body weight, my CIJ is lighter than the USA but both are Alder. The nuts are made of different material as are the pick guards. The volume and tone knobs are the smaller push on type on USA they're the screw type. USA pick up cavities seem to vary as do neck joints, both the CIJ's I've had are identical. Truss rod adjustment on USA have access CIJ necks have to come off, well mine do anyway. You get a case with USA and a Gig bag with CIJ. bit picky innit? Guitar Emporium offer try before you buy if you fancy a CIJ.
