1.
Pics now added:)
Really nice Congrats!!!!
2. One of the best Japanese Fenders I've used, great bass, nice snarly, grinding bright tone. Build quality is 10/10. Neck dimensions totally different from the classic Jazz shape, it's ultra slim. The weight of the bass is very comfortable. It's a very good bass and the price tag is reasonable too
3.
I would go directly to Hipshot. they have an om-line store and will ship to the UK. If you need advice on the right model I suggest you email Jason Ungleich [[email protected]].

You could contact Alan at ACG basses, he is a Hipshot dealer. Peter
Super!! Cheers both.
4. For me new strings play a big part in my tone and playability. I regularly change them but that's just my preference, each to his own with strings and gauges etc but when Rotos go they go If it's tone control, eq, etc keep 'em new I reckon
5. Morning all, Could anybody point me in the right direction for a Hipshot, the last time I used them I had a fender with the old type machine heads, now I'm not sure which type of Hipshot is compatible with the new Fender machine heads, when I say new It's 2000 onwards. Cheers Jase
6. Lighter fluid? You'll be doing a Jimi Hendrix next
7.
it's odd how he's "seen the light" in scientology, but still hasn't regarding music theory and reading music....c'mon, Billy, it's not that difficult....
Wait a minute!!!! I've been lucky enough to meet and chat with Billy on two occasions, once many years ago when he did a clinic in Wapping High St, the Ampeg Promo Billy's back and once at a Mr Big Gig In Newport. All I can say is "speak as you find..." I found him to be a very polite, sincere and genuine person regardless of any beliefs he has and does it really matter what beliefs a person has? and whether a player can read or not? I don't think so.
8.
Rudd is the drummer I think, and now Williams is mentioned I remember he is bass man. BTW, wish I still had that jazz bass Jase!
Awww, feel guilty now. What are you using now chris?
9. I had Cliff Williams in my head have I got it wrong?
10. Being a lanky fool, my first dings are always on the headstock when I'm taking the bass off, nearly always wallop them on a ceiling beam, light fittings that sort of thing you should see me at low ceiling gigs, crash, bang, wallop!
11. The Pickguard has the same pre drilled holes as my 62, including the one in the middle, mine's a 2007 model with serial prefix S O, IIRC. T he cheaper basswood bodied models don't have the spiral bridge. Take a look at a JB-53 on the guitar emporium site, possible it's the Japanese Standard Jazz.
12.
gas for me to, it won't be long before i am off to birmingham and getting myself a fender jazz everyone needs at least one in their life. I am also hoping it will make my peavey/laney rig sound nice aswell. Only thing i wish i could order one from the states but QC is unpredictable so i will have to get one from the shops that plays nice. Also will shops throw in a hard case if you buy a fender jazz.
A US Jazz should come with a case, don't be told otherwise
13.
The build quality, playability and tone of my US Jazz is absolutely brilliant. I don't even want to add a badass, as the Fender bridge does the job great (although, this is the first Fender bridge I've had that where the saddles don't lower themselves every 5 mins). Great basses.
Same here, got a 2004 and a 2000 I think it is, both bridges are fine. I used to do the Dimarzio, Badass and Hipshot upgrades, decided to knock that idea on the head and use them stock, they're gigged regularly and are totally reliable.
14. Just chucking in my two pennies worth....I went from Geddy to American, neck issues for me on the Geddy, there's ultra slim then there's the Geddy. Had a touch of the old hand fatigue with the Geddy neck I still think it's a great bass but there's something about the USA (outside the neck difference) that feels right. As much as I enjoy Fender Japan basses my 62 CIJ is a back up bass should the USA's let me down which I doubt will happen. Thought I'd have a Fender waffle Looking forward to the pics of your Candy Cola!!
15. Yeah, a video library would be a good idea, love a bit of bass browsing
16. Hi Chris, how's things? Some superb advice there mate, I had originally thought perhaps there may be a drum issue but I didn't want to start to point the finger, you're right, it misses the swing feel there is certainly the lack of a relaxed snare approach or width and late as you say, which might explain why I can't achieve that swinging yet tight bass feel. You Shook Me All Night Long is actually in the set, along with Riff Raff and Highway to Hell, It's strange but the ACDC tracks are the ones that seem to lack the musicianship required to make them happen. They are the simplest yet most overlooked. Right, I feel armed with some decent advice I can approach the drummer with Not only great advice, a great bass too! your Jazz happens to be the bass I use the most, still plays like a dream Cheers Bod2, I listened to the track after your post and you're dead right, I shall be trying that out Friday night Tidy darts.
17. Right, for the last three nights I've been playing some ACDC covers with a band..."so what" you might say...I recorded the gigs and I suck to be honest, not at laying it down or playing in the pocket......I'm not cutting it with ACDC tracks all other straight rock and pumping type tracks I have no problem with, it's these guys ACDC, what is that feel? Does any body know what I mean? it's the simplest of riffs and licks but believe it or not "Whole lotta Rosie" is the hardest groove I've tried in ages, the riffs and such are fine, it's that verse thing..."never had a woman" etc, etc any body know how to really play it? it's not just straight pumping A's is it?...or is it?
18. I would like nothing more than to survive on my earnings as a player alone but the fact of the matter is I can't, sometimes I find myself having to do "other" work which I don't have a problem with, it's money, makes ends meet and all the rest of it. A lot of the players I know need to have some sort of regular income. The jobs I do outside music are just casual things, you couldn't make a career out of them. I know of a player who tours with a legend and does session work, believe it or not still needs to fall back on his day job. Still, I think somebody like that comes under the "pro" title, day job or not. You could say that players who get paid are pro but then again does that make me a pro truck washer? Or am I a semi pro truck washing bass player or a pro bass playing truck washer?????? Who cares?
19. Your Yamaha looks a bit tasty too
20. Thanks for the interview link Clive, enjoyed that! I dunno, I quite like the BB, wouldn't mind a blast on myself. I wouldn't be able to resist jamming along with all the old Dave Lee Roth material though
21.
hehe... as I stated I'm actually selling these basses to make room and to collect some money to pay a 1-month trip through the USA in May and, honestly, I'm not good at playing fretless basses I'm sorry
No worries, enjoy your trip
22. I wouldn't have a problem with the finish on any of my Fenders wearing really quick, I'd love it in fact
23.
Its been said quite a few times over the past few years and it makes sence but iver not read Fender admiting to it so i would say no, its not suposed to. Some people have HW1's that have no problems with the finish. I guess they would be intitled to a refund in that case ;-)
This is the reason apparently : "The thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the body wood's natural tone shine through"
24.
Thanks guys I hope to quickly find a new home for that gorgeous jazz
Well I'm skint...but I do have a CIJ 62 Fretless for trade...... maybe???.......I'll get my coat
25. Didn't Fender design the finish so it wore pretty quickly, like the custom shop stuff or am I talking ballards??
