Had a pub ring us up last week because they'd had a cancellation and needed a band. (Apparently we'd been recommended to them by another of their regular bands). Was a small country pub which we'd never been to before. We were pretty wary of volume because of the size of the place and were all a bit dubious about it because of its quiet country pub vibe. (We are a Classic Rock/Metal covers band playing Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Whitesnake, Saxon, Maiden etc) The place soon got quite busy, people getting right into it and we got loads of positive comments and promises of rebookings etc. A pretty good night. So was very surprised to recieve the following email this morning!!! Dear All, I was unfortunate enough to catch your gig at the xxxxx at xxxxxxxx last night. I have never before in my life had the misfortune to witness 5 grown men looking so ridiculous and sounding so God damn awful. Can you all please note that it is now 2007, not 1980..!! Your performance was just one huge procession of crap music played badly and as loud as your equipment would allow. I managed to put up with your onslaught for 10 minutes and then had to leave the building. It was the musical equivalent of aural rape. I don't doubt that, were you to respond to my criticism and attempt to improve matters, your answer would be to recruit a third guitar player....... 'cos two guitars playing the same old tired riffs with exactly the same sound must?be better than one right...?? And so three must sound better than two...???? But then, why stop at three.... Finally, just one more observation, the tall geezer with the Les Paul slung just below his testicles...... Pleeeeeease...!!! Valhods. To each his own I guess but how annoying!!!! Grrrrrr.... I have of course sent a reply back!!! peace c
Nothing wrong with a tall geezer and a low slung guitar, I've been gigging with a band for the last few weeks doing the same type of stuff, we probably got the same set list as you mate and it goes down a storm. There's always one , with nothing better to do, has a huge knowledge of music, blah, blah, blah. What a pointless little man.
these days i suffer from nerves really badly - and its not good! never used to bother me in the old days - i think its an age thing, now i'm 38 i just feel more kinda exposed and less confident generally than i did in my youth. its definitely not about lack of confidence in my abilities or inexperience because i've done hundreds of gigs in my time. annoys me though as it spoils alot of gigs. the worst bit is all the waiting around between soundchaeck and actually playing....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! peace c
After years of playing and plenty of live experience, all manner of gigs I still get nervous, ( I'm 38 too 3V17C) all the time, every gig with out fail. Weird, you'd think you'd be able to shake it off or just become used to it...nope not me, I suppose it keeps me on my toes though and when you say "brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!" I know exactly what you mean

Hi I'm looking to do a straight swap: My Geddy Lee neck for your Jazz Rosewood, MIJ or MIA. Not too sure if neck pockets would be the same measurements. The neck is in good condition, I have used it live many times, so it's worn in. If anyone's up for this or have had experience in swapping a Geddy neck give us a shout. Cheers, Jase.
Nope http://www.bbc.co.uk/humber/content/articl...b_feature.shtml You have heard of google I assume Actually naming bands is a real nightmare, especially if you have to market them too .. Finding a name that does get 400 million hits on google, says wahat you do, will fit on a flayer and still be legible, doesnt upset your core audince and still sounds good is almost impossible ...
True OG, we just decided to bin our name "Multi-Storey Earthworm" although our name didn't really upset any one it just caused a few giggles nobody was taking us seriously. -
I remember reading about Bravewood basses who did that kind of thing... Not sure if it was only for their own instruments or if ti's a service though..
No, Bravewood don't offer it as a service, it's in the FAQ section http://www.bravewoodguitars.co.uk/ -
Just out of interest, who's the most aggressive player you've seen or heard and who's the most wussiest or should that be non aggressive Not that I think one or the other is best....just wondering.

Haven't a clue, they sound like super old strings but if they were changed they'd lose the funk

Hi er20ic, I have a Geddy I have to say it's the only bass I haven't modified. ( apart from a pick guard ) It has it's own sound It's gritty , punchy and bright. Comes with a Badass bridge, super slim neck which is very comfortable. The bass itself is not heavy at all very comfortable in a gig situation. All in all it's a very good bass If you decide to get one keep it in it's stock condition for a while see how you get along. When ever the Geddy pops up in a thread I always pipe up they really are a very nice bass.
Jase, have a listen to the soundclips ive posted a few replies up - that should give you an idea of the sounds I get with my all Hartke rig and a jazz bass.... But to answer your question, all hartke gear ive ever had has been reliable, NEVER ONCE let me down, and sound wise the 3500 is punchy as you like, as powerful as you will ever need, and loud enough to cut through in a band situation.
Cheers Luke, Yep you're right, it sounds great

Right, so....if 280 watts RMS is just that, then what does it mean if it says 580 watts peak ?

I've been looking at the Tour 450 since MoJ mentioned it earlier, I'd have one I reckon going by my last Peavey experience, good price £259 in Nevada Music.
