2.
Bloody hell that comment makes me feel old ! Which I am of course. Having just listened to 'Product' from 1979 I have been reminded of John Giblin.....a name that doesn't crop up much on the forum. More musical than Percy but less energetic and 'safer' but what a bassist. He wrote this one with Percy.....
Wal to Wal thingy
3.
Here we all come out the woodwork.....The Percy 'Sonic Explorer' Jones fanclub members. I have listened to him since the mid 70's and have to agree with Spoonbung regarding the 70's and 80's Fusion sound. Probably one of the most underated bass players ever and probably due to him doing 'his own thing' He really annoys me at times shifting from pure brilliance to 'wot the f**k is that all about' but I guess that is the enigma that is Percy Jones. I think his Wal sounds sweeter and less gutteral than the Ibanez , why did he change ? probably because Bilbo bought one This is great though ....off the wall....and in his own little world...
Yep, I'm another. Percy's the business. I also like this vid too!
4. I want this so bad it's unreal. I've no business being here... I'M SKINT! Swap my Fender Jazz Fretless for it...I'll get my coat.
5.
where did u get so many shoes from? tv? beautiful bass anyway, must mwaaaaaaah... (rosewood board isn't it?)
It's in a photographers studio...she had loads of them, really weird and slightly unnerving. Yep it's rosewood
6. Just wondering if anybody would be up for a straight swap- My Fender US Jazz De-fretted and epoxied/superglue. Dimarzio Pups. For your Fender US P Maple fretless (lined if poss) any color, gig wear and tear welcome! It's a gigged bass so it has the usual wear. It's the model before the S1 switch. Here's a pic: which shows the bass with original Fender pups, which have now been sold on.
7. That's a really nice custom job!
8. Goregeous bass Matt, brilliant condition too! Good luck with the sale.
9. Bugger!
10. Johnathan Hicks memory of his encores sums it up for me...shuffling, nowhere to go, umm, umm...the DJ starts playing
11. I'd love to do a spray job on my P bass.... at the moment it's the most disgusting colour Fender ever issued. Charcoal Frost ....very Midge Ure<_<
12.
Erm..yeah...apart from that one.
What?
13.
Matt Freeman is also a very talented bassist. True, he isn't doing it the 'proper' way with fingers
There is no "proper" way.
14. This is just delicious! Yum!
15.
The slots will fill up with crud and your fingers will catch a nasty disease and drop off!!
Ha!
16. Oooo, wrong section...sorry
17. Ello, I was thinking of taking the frets out of a maple neck, has anybody here done this and left the neck unfinished...not bothered to fill the frets in? Just wondered if it would it feel any different, cause any problems
18.
I really don't get it, I mean he is obviously talented but the tone is really horrid and there is nothing musical about it IMO.
Yeah, sometimes seems that Jaco solo's were hit and miss...actually, I think he may have said at some point that he wasn't the best soloist at the time...dunno, I may be wrong, don't quote me
19.
Oh dear.....
Not good?
20. Some Audio of Mr. P Full solo from Shadows and Light
21. I met Billy Sheehan and smiled like a love struck teenager and babbled about babble...think I was dribbling too! I've since been in touch with him, I'm 40 and still babble and dribble....I'm surprised he talks to me
22. Can't remeber what I was going to say
23.
...you're quite excited about the first rehearsal for a new project with existing band members, you put in alot of time learning the songs to get them right and then everyone else has only kinda half learnt the stuff!! aaaargh! i think its because being widdly, widdly guitarists they assumed this particular material would be easy and just skimmed over it rather than knuckling down and learning it properly. bah. lousy amateurs!! c
Yes, most annoying, thinking they can wing it or jam it, some can, most can't and we all need to practice and learn material. When that happens, I just f*** off home and tell them to come back when they've learnt their parts.
