1. Bought as part of a larger all EBS pedal project but never used. In absolutely 'as new' condition including box, manual, plastic cover etc. These are at least £180 new so I've knocked a straight £50 off the price. Happy to ship anywhere at actual shipping cost I haven't taken any pics because it is literally 'as new' but happy to take some if required. These are very funky pedals that a lot more than just a simple wah. There are options for: Wah Volume Wah or envelope filter character Tubesim Reverse action Lots of info and sound samples from EBS here: http://www.bass.se/2009/wahone.htm
2. A couple of Chunk Systems pedals bought to try out but decided to use something else instead. Both are boxed and as new. The 00 Funk manual has gone missing somewhere but they are available to download easily. I'm selling them initially as a pair because they work so well together and even Chunk have a number of demo sound files set up with both of them chained. New price on these is now £460 (£230 each) so I've knocked a straight £100 off the new price. Happy to ship anywhere at actual cost of shipping. I haven't taken pics of them as they are literally 'as new' but can get some if required. Here's some blurb from Chunk: The Agent 00Funk Mark II turns bass guitars and other electric instruments into instant funky squelching fatness. 3. Completely as new, and relatively hard to find as a PJ set. Bought for a project but not used so in 'as new' condition. Would cost about £190 to buy new so £140 for the pair is a good £50 off. Shipping to be added at cost and happy to ship anywhere. I don't particularly want to split them but if anyone wants a bridge J then I'd sell that first and then the P. Here's what Delano say about them: PMVC 4 FE/M2 How to improve a classic pickup design: Delano takes the classic P-Bass™ pickup design a major step forward. The big ferrous poles grab all the strings movements with zero loss. Specially engineered ferrite magnets and custom wound coils make up for a bass transducer ready to redefine the word PRECISION. Just imagine meaty P-Bass™ tone with in-your-face Stingray™ style grind and attack, then you got at least the frame of the picture. Due to its tight broad frequency range, this is a GREAT pickup for nu-school funk and rock players, it loves droptuned basses and massive tone tweaking. JMVC 4 FE/M2 These split coil humbuckers are the result of consequent research and modern winding technology. The gorgeous visual impact of their 9,5mm pole pieces is clearly audible: Ultra fast transient attack, powerful low-end response, detailed midrange and brilliant highend for direct in-your-face, take no prisoners bass tone. Even the very bottom range of droptuned basses will stay tight, focused and alive. JMVCs can handle massive tone tweaking and interact superbly with active circuits and effects. They are available in matched pairs or individually. NOTE - The sale is for a PJ set with one P pickup and one bridge J pickup not a pair of J's as in the above picture. I couldn't find a pic of a single J anywhere!
4.
Ooooo I hope this means Ped's organising our presence there for next year too! I'd love to help out with the PR/rep stuff again
Looks like we should be on again A lot more time for us to get organised this year too!
5. I think, to a degree, it also depends on just how well known the songs are. If you're doing something really well known and get an audience singing along it can quickly go very disjointed if the audience sings one line and you sing another. In most cases the audience will just assume you are right because you're up and playing the song in front of them but it can give some people a bad impression.
6. I think almost any EBS pedal would be better than it's equivalent current Boss model There are some older classic Boss pedals around but much of the modern range don't seem to sound as good.
7. I agree, way over-priced. It's getting close to a late 70's P price and that's, generally, a much nicer instrument. Lazy listing for Central London shop as well. There's stacks of information around about Musicmaster basses. Feels like they are trying to use a lack of info as a rarity factor sales pitch.
8. You don't see one of these very often - a complete EBS demo board with a set of virtually unused pedals and interconnects. These steel housings are usually only used in EBS main dealer outlets to demo the core range of pedals. Not only do they work well as a nice little, robust, stage board but they even have lots of handy example settings to use as a starting point in case you knock any of the dials off position - how many times have we all done that! All the pedals are the latest true bypass units and are in perfect working order. I think they all have their individual boxes and most have the user manuals as well (these are available online if not). This complete rig was owned by a studio session player and is not a retail ex-demo unit so it really hasn't been abused in a shop anywhere. The board doesn't have a carry case but there are some brands of pedal board case that I'm reliably informed will fit. By my calculations the cost of these pedals new, along with a steel rack and interconnects would be close to £1,200 so the the asking price of £650 is, therefore not far off half what they'd set someone back and they really are in 'as new' condition! I'd much prefer to sell them as a complete unit - seems a shame to break them all up
9. I could do with a set of these for my Sei, I reckon these are the same gauge too!
10. These USA Laklands are excellent, I much prefer them to the Skyline series (although these are also good). Lakland's candy apple red is a particularly good colour as well. Really deep and glistens under stage lights
11. I'd definitely go for .2 series if possible. Some decent upgrades in there and have a better rep for reliability (the 6.0's aren't particularly bad but some early 9.0's had some overheating issues).
12.
Never fancied a Ritter but that is something else . Can I swap the missus for one
Is she sleek, sexy, with a nicely rounded bottom and a delicious growl ?
13.
Yes, the Mini CMD 121P works very well for both DB and electric bass and - as others have noted - is pokier than the GK (which I have also owned). I prefer the MarkBass by a substantial margin. The only downside is the MarkBass is heavier and - as a cube - slightly more awkward to carry
I'd agree wholeheartedly with Clarky's sentiments. I've also owned both and the GK really struggled up against a live drummer. Great for home or studio use but I wouldn't gig one without an extension cab and foh support
14. They definitely sound different. BassGear had both in at the same time and I had a brief blast on each - decided I needed to have more time with the HD's but they sold within about 24 hours of arriving I am reliably informed I'll be able to try them again later this week Quite looking forward to hearing the HD210's as well. I'm currently using the AE210 so it'll be really interesting to see how the HD sounds up against it. However, I have to admit that the one I'm really excited about hearing is the new NV15. I've always liked three way cabs and have had good results from both SWR and Ampeg in the past. A Berg should really outperform both of these. I think I'm on 'emergency cover' duties on Saturday so may well be locking the doors and hiding myself away in the amp and cab demo room. . .
15. Good to see the demand for Jimmy's basses has remained high
16. Wow, that looks just like my old one These DN board AC's are uniformly great basses!
17.
Love that Ritter!! Do I dare ask the price???
Not exactly sure but it starts with a 6. . .
18. This, but with frets: Played through one of these: But by spring of next year I may be Gas free - on both fronts
19. I'd say there's more scope with the MB to get a rounder DB sound as well.
20. My Sei Original headless is 6lbs 9ozs. My Ritters are all under 8lbs as well, I think the lightest one is only just over 7lbs
21.
So is this a common problem with these heads ? Or just a dodgy batch ? These have been out for about 2 years now, I would like to think Ampeg would have the problems sorted by now.
Still a problem I know someone recently who went through 3 brand new ones and each one had major issues - even more worrying is that the issues were slightly different each time! There's one Ampeg dealer I know of that won't sell the PF series any more because they've had so many warranty returns (plus they don't feel they can 'responsibly' recommend them to their customers).
22. The two new Mesa heads look interesting as well The Prodigy is 250w and weighs 29lbs whilst the Strategy ups the power to 465w and weight to 49 lbs. The Prodigy looks like a bit of a winner to me. 250 valve watts should be pretty loud, it's surprisingly small and light and it has a funky half power switch so you can use it in a studio environment at 125w (the Strategy has this feature as well). Release of these has been really delayed though - should have been out middle of lsat year I think.
23.
Thanx... I've owned many tube amps and preamps and one of the "best" sounds I've heard came from a Demeter thru the power section of a Trace Twin Valve (120w with 2 KT88s). But I was looking for something a bit less transparent and moore "tubey", would prefer to get an amp instead of a preamp+power amp since they're not easy to match both electrically and mechanically
Both Jule & Demeter have integrated solutions now but all feature a class D power amp. I have to say i've heard nothing but good about these power amps and they are not supposed to sound at all 'clinical' or thin. From Jule it's available with the Monique in either standalone or rackmount form and James Demeter has it available with the HBP1 or the VTB201, both are rackmount though. Demeter also have a new power amp that looks like a killer. It's a 1600w 1U rackmount that "uses tubes and Jensen transformers to drive a high quality class D power amp". I haven't heard this so hard to say how good it is but it weighs just 11lbs!
24. I always aim for 2-3 winds for sake of tuning stability and neatness. Does depend on the type of tuner though. Some simply won't take more than 3 winds before they start going badly out of kilter.
