1. This bass comes up for sale over, and over, and over again on US EBay. You'd think they might have sussed it out by now
2. Does it sound better when you lay it on its side? Edit : Looking much better now
3.
Seasick Steve - country blues for people who buy CDs at ASDA.
4. Excellent - hope the weather stays dry and warm
5.
Are these being collected from you or from someone else being sent to you?
From other people - there's loads of people out there who seem to have a phobia about dealing with couriers so I often volunteer to sort this out for them so they don't have to bothered with anything other than packing and printing the paperwork
6. I book basses for collection by courier all the time and from all over the world - Australia, USA, Continental Europe, Scandinavia and, of course, UK. I've never had a single problem with damage. The odd box that might have taken a whack but the contents has always been fine
7. I'm with Luke Haines, lol "This Seasick Steve performance with JP Jones is the worst thing that has ever happened in the history of everything"
8.
Thanks for your contribution. It was really helpful . Anyway, moving on
Sorry thought the OP was "is anyone watching" rather than "who likes". I was watching, I didn't like, in fact, to be really honest, I thought he was atrocious and felt like that was a chunk of my life I will never get back
9.
I think Molan's figure of £650 would be a very good deal, but you can certainly get very nice used Stingrays at around £700 - £800. So I'd agree that one is over-priced.
Last Ray I had was an immaculate black 3 eq model. Cost me £600 without even trying to negotiate. Generally black and white go for slightly less than natural. Other colour prices bounce around all over the place but really nice Birdseye and flamed necks can definitely add value
10. I've tried many times to 'get' Seasick Steve but I find him duller than a very dull thing indeed
11. Great little 'workhorse' head from MarkBass - really reliable and a surprising amount of tonal flexibility once you get your head around the filters (lots of people seem to think you can use one or the other but my favourite settings are with both filters engaged).
12. Decent condition used 4 string Rays are readily available at around £650.
13. We were entirely spoilt by having a bespoke build stage and top notch sound crew so it wasn't too tough for us. It's a bloody tall ceiling though! If you get a chance see if you can get up to the balcony area that overlooks the hall when someone else is playing. The view of the hall with people in and music on is amazing. In fact, if it's open maybe get someone to take some pics of you playing from up there. They'll look great in the portfolio
14. The new price is not being passed on to dealers yet so there should be plenty of pre-increase stock kicking around for a good while yet. There's a lot less of the new stainless ones around so I think may be the first to start rising. Increases will only be applied to dealer orders post July 1st so should take some time to filter through. It'll be interesting to see exactly how far this will push the 'street' price up. Fodera prices are also rising on July 1st but it's only about 10%. Sounds like there might be a few more increases on the way as well
15. I've played in that hall - acoustics are great fun We played for a Price Waterhouse summer ball and it really was an amazing setting! Hope you have a brilliant time.
16. 12's are most definitely the 'flavour of the month' at the moment with the various different 2x12, 4 ohm, Neo cabs offering a great one cab solution for lots of people. Meanwhile I've just gone from a pair of 1x12's to a 2x10!
17.
Molan: i sense a business opportunity for someone who has a music store as obviously there is interest in their gear.
Now you come to mention it. . .
18. I hear a certain bass store near Reading has a big stock of Elixirs arriving soon
19. TecAmp have confirmed they do not have a UK retailer or distributor in place at the moment. Umm, interesting . . .
20. I've written to them asking about UK distribution - will report back if I hear anything
21. I think the Lehle Basswitch can do this, p,us a stack of other things, as well. I know a few serious session and pro gigging guys who use these for live work and they say that they are fantastic little devices. http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/outboard-preamps/basswitch-iq-predi/
22.
A very stormy Monday! Also he did the original of "Ain't no Love" I believe. Sad Day. RIP.
Damn, I was listening to this just this morning
23. I gigged with one of these for a few years - loved how it sounded with a matching SWR Triad cab
24. Bought tickets for New Theatre Oxford and got 2nd row central seats. Haven't seen them since '76, wonder if they've changed much? .
