1. I was funking around with my MXR envelope filter just this evening, got some great Bootsy-like tones from it
2. I've played the one that BassGear used to have http://www.bassgear.co.uk/products-page/bass-guitars/fodera/yin-yang-standard/ I think it arrived over here and was sold in under a week! Fodera can sell all they can make of these & I know Phil has ordered more for delivery sometime in Spring I have to admit that I approached it quite negatively - not least because I owned a, much more expensive, Yin Yang Custom at the time. However it really won me over after playing it for a bit. Looked great even though it obviously doesn't have the amazing split wood build quality of the Customs. Sounds was rich & full with plenty of attacking snarl & growl but if you soloed the neck pickup & wound the tone off you could get a great Precision type thump as well. Not sure if the guy who bought it is a regular here or not - maybe give Phil a bell or send him a message & I'm sure he'll be able to give you a more details
3.
USA? Link?
http://www.theperfectbass.com/explore.cfm?STORE=Y&N=155&SN=425&CT=101&PG=101&W=STORE&P=N&S=1001081&U=1&SS=1&CR=Y&modify=0
4. I love the bubbling little bass line played under this soulful mix from the, wonderfully named, Winston Warrior Solar Radio have been playing this for ages & it's taken a while for me to get into, partly because of the use of autotune, but I just love the bass. Give it a listen all the way through to hear what I'm on about Wish I could play anything like this fluidly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy7eRbQJQE0
5.
off the bloody chart this.. Julian Crampton on bass..
Love this - it's been a mainstay on my iPod since it was first released
6. Just spotted these sale prices: Shuttle 3.0 - £325 Shuttle 6.0 - £345 Shuttle 9.0 - £435 3.0-10T - £510 (extension cab £310) 6.0-210T - £670 (extension cab £345) Best two deals, if someone wanted to bring one back, are the Shuttle 6.0 & 9.0. If I was going over then I'm pretty sure a 9.0 would be slipping into my suitcase. . .
7.
Have a great gig.. I'm gigging in Henley that night..
Not the Victoria I hope?
8. Interesting if you're a Ricky fan http://www.premierguitar.com/Video/20111207/1717/Rickenbacker_Guitars_Factory_Tour.aspx It's not all guitar related - some bass stuff kicks in around 12 minutes.
9. Interesting if you're a Ricky fan http://www.premierguitar.com/Video/20111207/1717/Rickenbacker_Guitars_Factory_Tour.aspx
10. I think they are more of a home / studio amp (the clue may be in the title, lol).
11. That's the one - £102 seems like someone got a bargain.
12. Just spotted this, good condition SWR Studio 220 sitting at £100. Can't copy the link from here but just search & it'll pop up
13. I used to listen to them quite a lot but seem to have dropped off the playlist recently - will have to dig them out again
14.
Just 'sheer laziness' I guess!
I admit defeat on that front Nige
15.
Great track... Just been reading some history with that track [urban myth has it that Stevie Wonder played kit on it] And the Detroit Spinners were called just 'The Spinners' before they left Motown. It was changed so as not to get confused with an English folk group called 'The Spinners' Garry
Ok - so this version doesn't have Jamerson on it & the arrangement is a bit 'messy' at times but you have to love the suits & the dancing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0B1KgPZn0A&feature=related Also this - another great song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dln3ifkCfXs&feature=related
16. I'm a huge Philly soul fan, haven't listened to Ghetto Child for years - have it playing right now
17. I have to admit that I a Pod XT Live and really struggled to get a sound that didn't come across as 'over-processed' but I only ever used the standard patches and didn't try to re-programme anything. Conversely I've tried a few Sansamp products and seem to be able to dial in a really nice tone (or variations of tones with the pedals that allow you to store 2-3 different settings) with very little effort or tweaking at all Just 'horses for courses' I guess!
18. Nice, never seen one of these before, is the cab set at 4ohms to get the max output from the head?
19. Quick note on the handle - if you write to Euphonic they might replace it for free. That's what they did for me
20. It's currently at BassGear but that's only 20 minutes from mu house
21. Was it originally natural? If so then a coloured refin will devalue it. Same goes for the scratchplate.
22. So this may well be the closest I'll ever get yo a YOB Fender J - I think this may well have to be mine
23. That may well be the nicest '70's Fender I've ever seen!
